“Only renewed intellectual preoccupation with the challenges of our time, equipped with a firm grounding in the past and a comprehensive vision of the future, can promote a move beyond mediocrity” (West, 550).
The Omaha Community Playhouse’s (OCP) mission states, “The Omaha Community Playhouse is a performing arts organization that enhances quality of life through live theatre, professional touring and arts education. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of audiences and participants through entertainment, thought-provoking stories and first-hand involvement” (Omaha Community Playhouse 2016). This mission statement points to many functions including live theatre, touring, art education and entertainment. Yet, to what purpose do these entities serve? The statement articulates such an impressive amount of ventures
The employees at Quicken “express an appreciation for the inclusive and creative culture, nurtured by leaders who encourage them to innovate without fear of failure along the way”. (Fortune, 2014)

The book goes on to talk about theaters that are a part of “ …League of Resident Theatre (LORT) theatres, non-LORT theaters operating under special agreements, and other notable professional theaters throughout the United States.”(Voltz, 143). The chapter starts by explaining what LORT is and how a theatre becomes a member. After that, the book breaks down the theatre and talks about the general employment, casting, script submission, and internships for each theatre. Just like any other job there are going to be stressful times, but the book gives tips on how to reduce ones stress as much as possible. The final piece of advice is to write down the ones own experiences. So someday future generations can be inspired by advice that can be given from those experiences.
I belong to the community of makers who strive to continuously innovate and are energized by the challenges and potentials of the creative process.
Like frantic assembly we wish to make ‘thrilling, energetic and unforgettable theatre’ like that we have seen in their performances of Beautiful Burnout, Othello and Blackwatch. These Frantic shows have been a big inspiration to us in many ways. When we saw Beautiful burnout live we were in awe of the pace, energy that flowed through the performance. We were also given the idea of having a mentor and mentee in our performance from Frantic. Blackwatch inspired us in our flashback scene in which we act as soldiers from the grandfathers past. It also showed us how people act in the proximity of death.
Built on the Connected Learning framework, the space created a tangible connection between youth interests, educational achievement, employment opportunities, and civic engagement (Sebring et al., 2013). There were many occurrences during my time at YOUmedia were students directly impacted their communities or peers through various forms of art. One such occasion was during the “What’s Going On...Now”
The ‘make it happen’ culture and providing customer service which the customer deserves, without fail are what I strive to achieve in my work. Going above and beyond in customer service is one of my values and having this supported by an organisation is appealing to me.
“The theatre is the only institution in the world which has been dying for four thousand years and never succumbed. It requires tough and devoted people to keep it alive” – John Steinbeck. Devotion is a key part of being a performer; being devoted to your performances - and to yourself; your ability; your development; your belief in yourself. I understand this can be tough, but the experiences of theatre are so precious and valuable and they genuinely excite me - therefore I make this application using my head and my heart. What I do is a lifestyle; and it’s a choice I make, whole-heartedly, because I have a thirst for learning, a hunger to better myself; as a person and as a performer and I want to be surrounded by people who share my passion
This is the feeling that drew me to the theatre. From the first show I ever auditioned for I knew it was where I wanted to be. Being apart of the theatre surrounds you with people with the same goals as you. The only thing on the cast and crew's’ minds is making sure that the show being performed will make the audience cry, laugh, and feel together.

Economic realignment, evolution of technology, changing demographic trends and new ways of living and working are radically altering how education providers operate. These trends may be gradual but they are also powerful trajectories of change that have the potential to thrust education institutions, companies, governments and societies into freefall. The change heralded by these megatrends lies beyond our direct control but not beyond our influence. By getting a picture of how the world is changing and what these megatrends are, we can alter our destiny and remain viable and thrive in the future. Not only can we understand our market threats, but more importantly we can identify business opportunities and it is those institutions that recognise global trends and plan for a changing world that will be the market leaders of the future.
