As a relatively new organization, WVMPHP is faced with the challenge of developing their donor base by educating them on their mission and goals. There are several strategies WVMPHP can leverage to develop an informed business donor base. Creating a fundraising committee under the board of directors or hiring a part-time staff member to secure business donations. WVMPHP will need to establish responsible individuals for the purpose of seeking charitable donations. Special events like a gala or dinner can yield high revenue returns and the opportunity to educate the community about WVMPHP. Other fundraising strategies to explore are direct mail or personal

After Phoebe nearly spent three-fourths of her Christmas money on carousel rides, the ride was about to close because of all this damn rain. I mean, it wasn’t like it was a tornado or anything but—. Anyways, when the ride was over, all the kids ran to their parents like they thought the rain was lava or something and it was going to melt them. Not old Phoebe though. Boy was she smooth. So smooth. She just walked on over to me and plopped right down beside me on the bench. It was as if Phoebe was as happy as I was, watching her all smiley and funny and stuff. It made me even happier; watching Phoebe was one thing, but her acting just like me, boy did that kill me. It really did.

My first step of this project was creating flyers that I hung up in the park near my house and passed out to my neighbors. I also texted family and friends to see if they were interested in donating. All advertisement/donations

The first fundraiser that I would like to have is a Summer Kickoff event. This would be at the beginning of the term after school has ended and would be either a pool party, bonfire or camp themed that would kickoff this term and the summer! The next fundraiser would be in the middle of the term and could be a Car Wash or a Chocolate Drive. These would be promoted to members in ONR, our family members, friends and more! The last fundraiser of the term would be something new and innovative. I would like to open the planning of these fundraisers to general members. This way the general members would have a first hand experience in the planning and implementation of a fundraiser. It would have to be exclusive yet fair, so with the help of N’siah, I would create an application and through the application process, we would choose a few members to help. I would oversee the entire process and help the members if they need it but the majority of the planning would be in their hands so they can experience the planning of a fundraiser. Another idea for fundraisers that I had would be a Restaurant Fundraiser where I partner with a restaurant and the funds would go to Beresheit.

I would use the personalized mailing after making initial contact with the prospective donor in order to provide them with information after they have made a commitment to make a donation so that we are not losing as much funding by sending out to everyone that is referred to us. The social gatherings and informational gatherings would be to provide additional information to the donors as needs and changes arise so that they are aware of the increasing demands that the organization may have. The final activity would be to provide breakfast and lunches periodically for the donors in order to honor them and in appreciation for their donations. By using these activities, I have the expectation that it will cause the donors and the amounts to increase. In order to measure the successfulness of the strategy I would preset the amount that is required for the year and then break them down into quarters so that every quarter we attempt to achieve and surpass that given amount. In doing this, it would make the amount smaller during the quarter so that it would be a more feasible goal than the actual yearly

What sets this fundraiser aside from all usual fundraisers is that it helps create a meaning of realization and understanding of the people that they are helping by getting people to give up something that those people don`t have for 40 hours and what we take for granted in everyday life. Before I made the account for the fundraiser, I emailed the website to ask question on how to help raise money for Planned Parenthood and when I received information back it was kind of shocking. Since, I emailed them to ask how I could help they respond back politely, but the shocking part was being told I could not use the name to try and raise money for Planned Parenthood. In result, that makes it a lot hard for me to get people to donate without being able to tell them the topic of my graduation project. In conclusion, I realize that it is really hard to raise money for my graduation project without telling them fullness of what the money is going to which might make it a problem in the end.
