Functions of a Job Description As the current operations manager for a Fortune 500 retail distribution center, it is ultimately my responsibility to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient operation of both the inbound and outbound areas. The fundamentals of warehousing and distribution are simple: receive product in, stock it in a location, pick it from a location, and load it to ship to a store. While the fundamentals are simple, the complexity of the overall flow of the operation is quite extensive. With that in mind, there is an inventory control team member in the receiving department in place to assist with the proper receipt

The inventory control team members would need to know how to use the current computer system, in addition to the handheld scanners. Additional training would be provided for running reports and accessing specific inventory control screens within the computer system. I expect this position to generate a great deal of interest within the current employees. With that in mind, I am also looking for an individual who is actively engaged in process improvement and has made suggestions to our innovator team with ideas on how we can perform more efficiently across the operation. The team members would have to be able to lift at least 50 pounds and become forklift certified, if they are not already.
Organization’s Strategic Alignment While our current operation is adequate to meet the bare minimum requirements or the organization, it is my responsibility to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient operation of both the inbound and outbound areas. With our innovator team in place, we are constantly looking for new ways to improve safety, increase quality, and perform more efficiently. Creating an inventory control team will allow us to meet all three of these goals, by actively and aggressively focusing on our inventory movement. We will invest time and training with each of the team members to allow them to safely succeed at optimizing the slotting of all
To be successful in today’s business environment, an organization must be able to perform certain fundamentals accurately and efficiently. “In an age of increasing specialization, it is rare for one person to be knowledgeable in all aspects of a complex task” (Thompson, 2015, p. 88). In this case, the first step was to understand our incoming demand. For this, I relied on information technology to generate numerous reports as well as the expertise of our sales team. It was at that point that the data was analyzed in conjunction with an inventory specialist. After we had the knowledge of what current product to inventory, we then needed to establish a set of guidelines of how to qualify products in the future. Inventory control management processes were instituted as well as a supply an auditing system. These steps included information from organizational members from our manufacturing group, planning department, and procurement department. Finally, we needed to understand and facilitate the storage and shipping of the product. We enlisted the help of our warehouse employees as well as our transportation department. This type of project included various levels of the organization and required a tremendous amount of communication. The project workload was enormous and also had a substantial financial investment associated with it. Instrumental in the project’s success was the team’s cohesion, diversity, and strategies deployed
The company that our group has partnered with for this project is CVS Pharmacies. We looked into this company to see if there were any areas for improvement within the organization that would have an impact on external customers. Within this define stage is when we did exactly that, we defined the problem. One problem that we found within the CVS Pharmacy, that would be easy enough to handle given the scope of the project, concerned the stores current inventory (overstock, backstock) system. It seemed that currently there was no formalized process with regard to placing items in overstock, resulting in an unorganized and unconventional overstock area. This created a problem because it made it harder

The floor staff should only alert Steve when the product line is empty on the shelves. On June 28, 2012, the United States Supreme Court issued a decision that made the enforcement mechanism for the ACA Medicaid expansion optional for states. Regardless of that decision, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has reduced the uninsured rate since its complete implementation in 2014. The original intent and projections were that all states were expected to expand Medicaid. However, after that Supreme Court decision, some states chose not to expand Medicaid.

The current job specifications for the store manager position that is required, by most district managers, at CompTech is that the candidate being considered should have a MBA or at minimum three years’ experience as store manager. CompTech’s strategic objective is to meet customer requirements and expand their customer base, so I would also include strong customer service skills as a job specification. When the trucks arrive a small team unloads and bring product to their designated section of the store. For apparel, the clothing is put on racks and wheeled out. Where a small team folds, locates and displays them according to planograms and sets. The process of unloading, locating, displaying should be concluded before the store opens with no products on the sales floor. This is to keep the store looking clean and providing the customers with a clean, stocked environment. The effectiveness of Targets current distribution is good; however, inventory counts often have a crippling effect on the company. Since target launched their online pickup and ship from store the company has noticed an error in their operations. Their inventory counts did not refresh fast enough, if a guest just bought say a dress, it would not be accounted for, for 3-5 hours later in the system. Thus, issues for customer satisfaction would occur when a guest would either see online that we had it in stock, or order it for in store pick up and us not being able to fulfill their order. By improving their inventory management system, Target could see an increase in sales, customer satisfaction and online and in store customer traffic.
Managing a pharmacy successfully and bottom line improvements depends highly on making profits, generating cliental, and keeping clients happy. While all of these factors are very important, an important aspect of making sure these factors are accomplished is managing the inventory turn-over-rate (ITR). The inventory turn-over-rate measures how fast inventory moves and repurchased for stocking (Peterson, 2004). As previously stated, this is crucial to making profits, generating cliental, and keeping clients happy. The ITR’s primary goal is to satisfy customers, minimize cost, and have a suitable bottom line. The act of purchasing large or too few quantities of inventory can affect the pharmacies cash flow and profits. To successfully
