Functionalist perspective is a theory of stratification that say that inequality is a necessary part of society. It is based on a person’s achieved status and is a functional part of society. The Functionalist perspective would talk about Financial Aids in a different way than the other sociological perspectives. The Functionalist Perspective would say that it is functional for some people to receive more aid than others. Financial Aid bases their amount of money given to a student based on the income of their family. Financial Aid is a way for the college to make it fair for all students coming to college and paying these hard prices. However, you could also look at it as unfair. If your parents make too much money then you will not receive aid. Also the smarter you are the more scholarship you get. Those who have a lower v/m,/[ACT score would be comparable to the migrant workers. They are not needed as much as those at the top of the rung. The smarter or higher paid workers are more valuable when it comes to skill. These people will perform the more valuable, important jobs in society. Or if we look at it from another perspective only those who are in financial need deserve the help. What would be left of the University if they were to give out the same aid and scholarship money to every student on campus? The University would no longer thrive.
