Anything containing oil has been an increasing problem to the environment and to people. The toxicants that the oil produce harms people with their health. In the film Fuel, the director Josh Tickell talks about how crops can produce fuel, which produces cleaner air and is safer for the public. There are also other ways that Biofuel could be produced, such as adding human waste onto algae. The way that society utilizes oil is hurting the world, which in fact is affecting the human population and environment, but people only realize it until it is too late. With biofuel people would not be in danger and it could be produced without struggling to find oil.
Not only is Josh Tickell learning about the ways biofuel can help, he is also informed about how oil can affect people. With biofuel people would not have to worry about their health being at risk. He meets with multiple people who use Biofuel, and they all mention how biofuel has improved their cars and as well as helped the environment. Being able to inform the public of the benefits has been Josh Tickell's goal because he understands that toxic waste is a hazard. What the factories have been doing is increasing the chances of residents getting illnesses, such as cancer. Beth Zibert mentions " There's this increase in fertility problems, birth defects and miscarriages". This shows that women of this generation are struggling with pregnancy due to the fact of the oil factories. During hurricane Katrina 9,000,000 gallons of toxic waste was spread throughout swamps and streets. It was later discovered that none of that information was given to the public.
