Do not fret – it leads only to evil – Psalms 37:8.
David clearly exhorts us 3 times in Psalm 37 to ‘fret not’!
A fretful believer can have very little Christian influence in any community. No man can have much confidence in the piety of another who habitually indulges in fretfulness.
Who does not know that indulging in the slightest bit of fretful behavior instantly breaks up our peace of mind, brings the spirit into rough waters, stirs up the sediment and makes it like the troubled sea?
I admit it. I’m a worrywart. I’ve been one all my life. When I fret, I put lots of effort into worrying about something that might happen or worrying about a problem that doesn’t seem to have a possible good ending. This brings out a doubt in God, in His
But I tell you, don’t be angry with anyone. If you are angry with others, you will be judged. And if you insult someone, you will be judged by the high court. And if you call someone a fool, you will be in danger of the fire of hell. “So, what if you are offering your gift at the altar and remember that someone has something against you? Leave your gift there and go make peace with that person. - Matthew 5:22-24
A very long debate in college sports is if the athletes should be paid. Author Jared Walch, talks about both sides of the issue, but later in the article it seems he sides with the argument that they should be paid. In the beginning of the article, he talks about why the athletes shouldn’t be paid. Walch first argues that this is all a choice for the athletes. They choose to put themselves in harms way of possible injury and not every athlete gets injured. Another argument that the author discusses is how to pay the athletes. Who pays the athletes and how do you distribute the money? The two programs to bring in the most money are football and men’s basketball. Women’s golf athletes are still college athletes. So even though they don’t make as much money, will they still be paid? Most athletes are already at school for scholarships. If you already have everything paid for by the university, what more would you need paid for? The author later goes into the morality and how paying the athletes would take away some of the entertainment of watching college athletes play. Towards the end of his article, Walch
Some may say, in regards to worrying, is to practice the art of not worrying or take control of your feelings. Unfortunately, this notion is better said than done. Emotions can not be practiced nor can they be easily controlled. Emotions are like currents in a body of water. Each drifting through one’s conscience at their own pace and direction undisturbed by what may be in their way. However, worry is not like other emotions. Worry is more similar to oil. Worry masks the beauty and the pureness of all other emotions. Until, the only emotion one feels is
On a psychiatrist's recommendation, Manson was transferred in October 1951 to Natural Bridge Honor Camp, a minimum security institution.[4]:137–146 His aunt visited him and told administrators she would let him stay at her house and would help him find work. He had a parole hearing scheduled for February 1952. However, in January, he was caught raping a boy at knifepoint. He was transferred to the Federal Reformatory in Petersburg, Virginia, where he committed a further "eight serious disciplinary offenses, three involving homosexual acts", and then to a maximum security reformatory at Chillicothe, Ohio, where he was expected to stay until his release on his 21st birthday in November 1955. Good behavior led to an early release in May 1954, to live with his aunt and uncle
Many studies are looking at if worry can be a cause to make a person anxious, as being worried can cause a negative outcome or effect on the individual,
Answer: The Greek word translated “complainer” means literally “one who is discontented with his lot in life.” It is akin to the word grumbler. Complaining is certainly not a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and, in fact, is detrimental to the peace, joy, and patience that come from the Spirit. For the Christian, complaining is destructive and debilitating personally and only serves to make our witness to the world more difficult. Who, for instance, would be attracted to a religion whose adherents are dissatisfied with life and who continually grumble and complain?
Mark Twain says that early in his life he moved to a mining town in Colorado. The town was wide open with brothels and bars on every corner. Twain says, “I immediately recognized it was no place for a Christian-so I decided not to be one.” Many people have imitated Twain’s response. When they find it hard to be a Christian, they either quit trying to be one or they compromise their convictions.
Since the start of our country, America has been known as a land of immigrants, a melting pot of different cultures and ethnicities working towards the American motto of the land of the free, home of the brave. Since colonial times, immigrants have been an integral part of society, majorly contributing to U.S culture and economy, yet many Americans have always had very conflicting ideas on immigration. Many people look past the benefits immigrants bring to our economy and society and instead scapegoat them for many of the United States’ problems surrounding unemployment and budget. The positive effects of immigrants, both legal and undocumented, in our country far outweighs the negative effects because of their important impact on society and the economic help that American relies on.
This is the place toughness on pluralism's part really is to the event of the Christian, for they should at any rate in a sound-based way see out our way of seeing things, else it would not be real pluralism. This is to be taken as a chance to plant seeds with the expectation that the Gospel of Christ will flourish. As the Bible states, , “And the one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word, and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away”(Matthew 13:20-21). Criticism in the interest of God is to our advantage and also theirs. Opinion as to staying close to our unbelieving brothers and sisters is a push towards their salvation in Christ. As Christians, we should have trust in the Gospel and feeling of being completely sure can be developed through strong
This is a truth that applies to present day Born Again Christians. You are always happiest when doing the purpose of Our Father, even if it causes you to be persecuted at times."
Zac Poonen states that God can make the very most things that ever happened in your life work for your very best. I always say to trouble teens don’t worry so much no depression anxiety be a teen every day you have left I can’t wait to be able to help you God said so. I know God has me here for a reason. The first step to releasing worry from your life is accepting the problem you are facing. My struggle started when I learned my brother, Sam, had AML leukemia and would have to undergo chemotherapy treatments. It is important that people get the facts and
This is true because when someone tells you that you need to relax and you calm down do you
Moreover, anxiety is not just getting anxious. It is nonstop thoughts that run through my head, tangling with each other as they intertwine in the chaotic mind of teenage angst. The mind will create subconscious decisions or distorted statements that will defer or stop someone from dealing with a situation. Anxiety will induce an individual to believe these thoughts. When the weight of the worry lifts away anxiety stems more troublesome thoughts. It is a battle between caring and caring too
An inspirational quote from Padre Pio is, “Pray, hope, and do not worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.” (Padre Pio Quotes) This is something I would like to imitate in my life, because this quote describes the basics things one needs to do the lead a good spiritual life. One should not worry because God is there and will protect you through your troubles. In order to achieve this, I would have to be more trusting in God and accept that he will be there to
