The history of the United States is built on the sacrifice of the men who served it in times of need. Among the many conflicts and bloody wars, there is but one I wish to witness: the French and Indian War. It was not only the war that began stirring tension between the colonies and the mother country Great Britain, but the first steps towards what would be known as “Guerilla warfare”. Now, the French and Indian war had begun simply because French fur trappers came from what is now Canada to North America, west of the colonies. Yes, this can be seen as the beginnings of an assault on Great Britain’s colonies, but I’d would like to see the thought process the king, George II, had gone through to set forth this war. Braddock would not be the leader of the army at the time of the French and Indian War for long due to his abrupt death. With no general, Washington was appointed in Braddock’s place due to his retreat command at the moment of Braddock’s death. Not only would I be seeing how a man, not formally a leader, would become one and avoid the cold hand of death, but I would witness how Washington would grow into how people of the United States see him today. I’d want to see his strategies on the battlefield, his conversational skills among those of his troops and the Native Americans. I’d also like to see Washington’s composure in the fighting with the weight of the colonies resting on him. It would also be interesting to see what effect the war had on him. Not in the way I had said before, but rather if he was shook by the war, maybe if he developed some minor case of PTSD. The reactions of both the Iroquois and Huron tribes would also be something I would like to experience. How did some of the tribe members react? Had some left due to the chief’s choice or their skepticism of the white man? Had some Native Americans secretly retaliated by killing a number of the soldiers in their sleep? Surely amongst the Native Americans the idea of partnering with the white man was distasteful. More than likely some had left due to
