Public art is art in any media that has been planned and executed with the intent of being staged in the physical public domain, usually outside and accessible to all. Public art is significant within the art world, amongst curators, commissioning bodies and practitioners of public art, to whom it signifies a working practice of site specificity, community involvement and collaboration. Public art may include any art which is exhibited in a public space including publicly accessible buildings. Sometimes the relationship between the content and audience is just as important if not more important than its physical location.

The statue has created lots of controversy due to the communist themes of the statue. The statue creates many discussions of the meaning of the statue and evokes many opinions on the subject. This free discussion of opinions completely represents the community of Fremont.
One last interactive public art work is the interurban sculpture. The piece depicts five people under a shelter and a curious dog with a human face. One of the most truly unique features of this art work is that people dress the sculpture up in a variety of things. Anyone from the community is allowed to dress up the sculpture. The only rule is no commercial messages and everyone cleans up when their display is done. The artist Richard Beyer’s intention was to make this a public artwork that could be utilized, photographed and enjoyed for any purpose.
This creative freedom to contribute to the art work truly allows the community to show off its eccentric and creative personality.
