Greetings fellow humans of Earth.
I am a Christian girl here to talk about my thoughts on religious beliefs in America. The right to have freedom of religion has been overloooked these past few years, epsepically now more than ever. Prayer has been revoked in schools and public places. The Bible has been prohibited in sertain places. Reigious based monuments have been removed from the public view. We have the freedom to believe, howevever it seems now you have to be quiet about it.
When the Founding Fathers put the Constition together, they put the freedom of speech, religion, and press. They put the freedom of religion in there, so people can come to America for religious refuge. America was a place where you can worship whomever you want
The founding fathers thought that freedom of religion was very important to have in the New World. The founding fathers and other immigrants came over to the Americas for various reasons. One being that England did not have freedom of religion and they could not practice what they wanted to practice. They were enforced to practice the Church of England at the time. This being one of the reasons they put the first amendment
The Founders of our great country considered that freedom of religion was essential for the success of our government. With the freedom of religion, it comes with the opportunity for religious diversity. This means that citizens may be able to believe whatever they desire, whether it is Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or any religion. According to Elisha Williams, once the right of religious freedom is removed it is viewed as the first domino to fall in the chain reaction. “If that falls, so will the other freedoms,” says Williams. People rely on their religion for several life choices, so the right to
America is a home for people to be free from religious persecution; or at least that is what the nation was found on. As time goes on, it seem as if the foundation of religious freedom that the United States of America was found has been forgotten. The United States government at its earliest establishment had set forth a set of freedoms for all people to feel safe from any persecution. In order to make these a set of established rights, the founding fathers created the U.S. Constitution that holds within itself the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights was a call for greater constitutional protection for each citizens, or immigrants, individual civil liberties. During the twentieth century, The United States Supreme Court had a very
The freedom of religion has been essential since the day colonists began to flee from Great Britain to America. America was, and is, a place they could come and be free of persecution for what they believe. Unfortunately, over the course of history,
In 1802, when Thomas Jefferson Was president, he wrote that the First Amendment's Freedom of religion. The First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion as "free activity’’ clause that allows people to worship as they please.
The first part of this verse is really important, it says; “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.”
Every single person in the United States have the right to express their religion of preference or no religion at all, however him or her wants without offending anybody, and the best way to protect religion’s liberty was by keeping the government out if it and creating this First Amendment freedom of religion, to separate the church from the state.
In the United States, religious freedom is a unique right that not all countries allow. The founding fathers instilled this idea although they predominately followed the Christian faith. Several documents and common American morals have Christian roots; some of which include the establishment of God given rights and basic human decency. The words “In God We Trust” on our currency and “One Nation Under God” in our pledge represent the guiding principles that the United States was established on. Although some may believe these words are controversially bias toward Christianity, they are an important part of history. There are multiple references to faith throughout history and several words and concepts are derived from Christian
America is known as a dream country, one of which many people move across the world for, craving the democratic and understanding ruling which allows citizen to participate in nearly all aspects of decisions made within the country. America’s approach to create a perfect union, or dream country, of stability and structure is based off of the Constitution of the United States. The constitution ensures people of their safety and justice, common defense, opportunities for prosperity, and common rights including one right in particular, freedom of religion. Freedom of religion is a fundamental right, explaining its dear importance to so many lives across America. This common rights allows each person to legally practice any religion they choose,
Recently, students were instructed to write an essay along with a pictorial representation of the person they considered to be their hero. Since one student chose Jesus as his hero and submitted a drawing of the Last Supper, possible legal complications need to be considered before grading and displaying the assignment. An examination of First Amendment legal issues that arise when a student submits an assignment of religious nature will provide insight into how the First Amendment applies in the classroom.
The Founders thinks that “freedom of religion” is important because the Founding Fathers felt that religious freedom was paramount to the functioning of a moral free society. The Founders
Abraham Lincoln once said, “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” I believe that America should be that one place that everyone feels comfortable and safe. America has lots of freedoms that let us do and think without having people tell us what to do. We are truly lucky to live in such an amazing country.
There are many things that comply to the importance of religious freedom. Many of which we take for granted. If anything, it is our fundamental right to have this freedom, for everyone. There are even a few laws that comply to religious freedom, for example the “1998 International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA)”, this law issues to the United States to criticize mistakes that comply to religious freedom. It also helped advocate the right of religious freedom.
Statistics have shown that “nearly 70 percent of the world...live in countries with high restrictions on religion” (Clark). People all around the world are being persecuted for their beliefs in Religion or for simply not believing in what society wants them to believe. History has shown this during World War II, when millions of Jews were killed because of what they believe in. But persecution is not just something of the past, but a issue of present time. Such as, Islamic Extremism in the middle east that has forced citizens to become Muslim or else put to death. Religious freedoms are important to have in a country because it leads to a stronger nation, people have the right, and without it many are persecuted for their beliefs.
The United States of America was founded with a credo of religious freedom. They hoped to change the vicious cycle of religious persecution and intolerance that had been swirling through Europe for centuries. Over the last two hundred years this legacy has been shredded and stained. Our religious freedoms have been taken away by people who have twisted what our country was founded to protect.
