The Necklace
Many people have various valuable items that they cherish, some only have a few but everyone has that one thing that hey hold close to their heart over everything. My one item happens to be a necklace that my papa got me for Christmas right after he was diagnosed with liver cancer. This necklace means so much to me because of the character behind it, the many feelings it gives me and the heartfelt memories behind this one simple gift.
My necklace stands for so much more than just a piece of jewelry. It stands for everything my papa was to me and every person he met. He was one of the kindest souls I have ever came across. He would do anything for anyone he met. Once he even let a complete stranger stay in his house because he had nowhere else to go. He was definitely a family man. My papa often hosted family get together and definitely

My initial motion is sadness. I generally feel sad because this necklace represents my papa, or relationship, and the love we had for each other, and now all that is gone. Although, I first feel sad, I start to feel happy when I realize that I am fortunate enough to have something so special let of him. At the end of the day I normally feel a sense of peace. I have peace knowing that my papa is no longer suffering and the simple piece of jeweler is a reminder of that.
A well as the feelings and the character behind my necklace, there are also tons of memories. Memories are among some of the only things that I have to hold onto of my papa. I have from when I was young of riding four wheelers, fishing, and feeding the dogs with him. I remember how I would always run up to him, throw my arms around him, or hold when he would kiss my forehead, his prickly hairs would rub against me and I would giggle. These memories are one of the most important parts of the necklace and my life would likely be much different if I did not have the piece of
The necklace symbolises love between the two, even through their high and low points in life. Mariana believes that she can change his emotions by showing that she still wears her present from him: “Hey, look, look, look, I'm still wearing your necklace. Why would I be wearing it if I didn't want to be with you? ‘What about Mat, huh? You don't love him?’ No, I I don't. I love you”. Mariana is petrified of Nick having a gun pointed at her and himself. She believes that he is a threat to himself and society. Therefore, Mariana is flattery by lying to him saying that she still “loves” him by revealing her necklace. This is showing that she no longer loves him and is unsure if he would do this again in the
Ariana decided to ditched the talisman and save her future, even though it broke her heart. The necklace alway made her feel more grounded and sane. When Ariana leaves her pendent, it proves her dedication to her overall plan of getting her perfect
The jade pendant was given to June after she volunteered to take the worst crab for dinner. When Suyuan gave this to her she said,“This is young jade. It is a very light color now, but if you wear it every day it will become more green” (208-209). The jade pendant was said to be June’s life’s importance of acceptance and kindness. The more accepting and kind June is, the better of a person she will be. The more June wears the necklace, the better it will be and the more that June displays her best qualities, the better of a person she will be. Her mother gave her this necklace, showing its importance in both of their lives and how it was passed down. Suyuan valued these qualities and was proud of her daughter for having this trait. Suyuan gave June this pendant to show how important it is to have this quality in your life. Throughout June’s stories, she is always struggling to find out who her mother was and what was important to her after her death. This is why Suyuan and June did not understand each other very well during June’s childhood. It was not until Suyuan gave June the pendant that she truly accepted June for who she is. When Suyuan gave June the pendant, she helped show her. “See, I wore this on my skin, so when you put it on your skin, then you know my meaning” (208). The pendant that was given to June and represents how she should express
Spiritual jewelry became very popula. Pendants can represent the wish for a long life for the wearer, in some cultures.
Father’s portrait stares back. This is as old as we’ll ever know him.” The amethyst ring not only symbolizes the hope of their father coming back, it symbolizes that their father is with them. When Ha’s mother lost the ring, it was like their father was lost. When they couldn’t find it, Ha’s mother knew he had left them
This accumulation of different objects, is an altar honoring Anita Marchini, my grandma. She is an optimistic and joyful person, always ready to make other people laugh. She taught me to always be cheerful and to always be brave. Like Sandra Cisnero, this altar is dedicated to a very loving and strong women in my life. In the back of the altar is a red dress that I wore for my first Christmas, it reminds me of her because she bought it and has been in love with it ever since. Then on the right, is a tribal statue from Africa, which signifies how much she loves to travel and all the knowledge she has gained from seeing the world. On the bottom left and right corner there is some plants, signifying her love for gardening and nature all together.
In the story of June and her mother Suyuan, in the kitchen. June stands out strongly, because of her mother’s intention in giving her the pendant is unclear, it spurs her to the question. That the gift was given in the context of their discussion of quality, and may show in specific way her mother was valuing her, not just for being her daughter, but because she was finally, best at something. This was the night that Suyuan recognized her daughter is different, but Best Quality. Suyuan wanted the best for her daughter. Suyuan knew that her daughter was the best but never really said it to her. June always thought that she wasn’t enough for her mother that she never measured up to her expectations. And everything that her mother hoped for that she couldn’t meet, she was a disappointment. Her mother noticed that she had all the qualities that she hoped for in a daughter, she told this to her daughter when she noticed that she always took the worst crab so that the best crab was served to the guest. June had the Best Heart. This was something that Suyuan wanted to give to her daughter. June now realizes this, and she realizes that she has met her mother’s hopes. The pendant is her mother’s recognition that, if nothing else, June is true to her own nature, is the best. June finds herself performing the same kitchen-rituals that her mother did, June truly begins to understand and honor her. June takes on her mother’s spirit as she sits down at the
Something that has been extremely important to me and still is really important to me is my Winnie Pooh blanket. Now you may think why is a teenager still need a blanket to sleep with? Well I have a good reason. This blanket reminds me of my father when I was little. My dad got me this blanket when he was deployed in South Korea, he got this for me because I was little and he loved to bring back presents, since he regretted missing most of my life. My dad has left several times to go serve his country, and I hated it because I missed my dad growing up. I love this blanket right now, even though now my dad is home right now. I don't really know when he will be gone again. This blanket also brings back memories to me, of my younger days when

In “The Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant the author uses symbols to convey a deeper meaning to the readers, so that they can understand the story better. The predominant symbol in “The Necklace” is the necklace Mathilde borrows from Madame
I have always worn this item around my neck every since my mother handed it to me, which was around eight years ago. It’s a necklace that’s made of a thin, yet strong, vibrant red string with a jade ring attached to it. The jade ring is smooth, around an inch in diameter, an eighth of an inch thick, and has multiple shades of green, white and a tint of brown on it. It’s hardly the most valuable ring of jade in all of China, but it still holds the same meaning in Chinese culture. It’s a symbol of goodness, preciousness and beauty (EGL Asia). I never really thought of it as something that’ll give me beauty or anything, it also hardly anything unique, plenty of people in the world have it. But, it’s undeniable that it’s a gift from my one
The Tree necklace represented many things to me when I first got it. It represented my family, home, and all the things that I have done that made me into the person that I am to this day. It reminded me to always remember where I started in the world and to never forget my roots. It also represented the loving support of all of my family members. Every time I look at the necklace, I am encouraged to remember my family members who make my house into a
It was a Tuesday after school when my mom decided I was old enough to inherit the small gold thing; I was still shorter than her, and at the cusp of youth at just 11 years old. It was heavy and large in my open hand- the longest width of it wider than my palm. She told me it was rose gold, and I nodded my head at the term I didn’t understand. Was it called that because of the little rose on it? I had wondered. She told me it had been given to her by my great-great-grandma in Montana when she was my age and that it was very special. I had to be careful with it because it’s old and someday I have to pass it on to my daughter. I had frowned at her, because really, who wants kids? Without noticing the little button-release clasp on the side I slid my hand
The theme for “the Necklace” is be happy with what you have. Mathilde and her husband lost all their life savings because della was unhappy with what they had. The couple had to work for ten years to pay back the money for the necklace all because Mathilde was not content with her belongings. This is different from “The gift of the magi” because the theme is, love is worth more than any material object. Della and Jim both gave up their most valued possession for their loved ones. They both cared so much for each other that they were willing to do anything to prove their love for each
