After watching the video, I believe that the shooting was unjustified in a sense because the cop could have used his knowledge to defend himself in a different way. I do not believe that in the police academy, they say to shoot a person right away after being assaulted. It was obvious that the man was drunk and had no gun, so he decided to go grab another weapon instead to injure the officer. From my perspective, it looks like the cop was very scared and caught off guard to where he decided to use the gun he had in his hand without acting appropriately and fast. The cop had grabbed the gun from his pocket immediately as the drunk man ran away and seemed ready to use the gun. To me, this cop looked like an amateur and not equipped to think accordingly during this incident.

While the case against her for the Violation of Bond Conditions was disposed of, the Aggravated Assault case is still active, and has a court date of September 1, 2017. Victimology, or the study of victims, especially crime victims, has created new categories of victims that had not been previously noted. What are typically known as “street crimes”, such as rape, robbery, murder, and assault, have been identified as crimes since the biblical era, and the victims of such crimes have long been identifiable (Karmen, 2013). It has been the advances in the field of Victimology, and the questions which have been asked, that have identified new types of crime, and with these new crimes, come new types of victims. As social mores change, and new issues emerge, new categories of crime victims will be identified, and each new group of victims will present a new group of issues, which will need to be addressed. As these new groups of victims are identifies, victimologist will be tasked with asking the questions needed, so that the process of how these groups became victims, and be identified, and studied, in hopes of preventing future victimization.

A person who experiences a traumatic event may be expected to experience a range of psychological effects, and, for many years, it was assumed that these psychological effects would be the same regardless of the cause of the injury. However, a growing body of knowledge is demonstrating that the impact of criminal victimization is different than the impact of other types of injuries because the intent element makes a difference in how the victim perceives the harm. In addition, victims of different crimes may respond differently to victimization. The psychological effects of victimization are important because they can help guide the criminal justice system for how to interact with victims and how to make the process more victim-appropriate. For example, victims of violent crimes, like sexual assaults, may benefit more from a victim-centered criminal justice approach than victims of other types of crimes (Resick, 1987). However, one of the problems with the traditional approach to victimology is that it has distinguished between different groups of victims. Emerging research suggest that victim needs are similar across the entire spectrum of crime, particularly the victims' needs for information about the crime and the needs for financial restitution to make them whole (ten Boom & Kuijpers, 2012).

Public violence appears to be the main topic of news coverage today. Society is susceptible to violence and no one is safe from the possibility of becoming a victim to crime. Crimes are committed with the belief that getting caught is impractical. People want to understand the insanity of criminals. When perpetrators kill themselves after taking the lives of others, the idea of questioning or assessing them are lost. The researchers that study crimes combine their knowledge with psychologist and sociologist to gain full spectrum of understanding why people commit violent crimes.
