Four Pillars Of National Honor Society

Before I joined the National Honor Society (NHS), my ideal characteristics for a successful student included earning straight A’s every semester, taking challenging courses, and, ultimately, ranking myself among the top students of my class. I was trapped in my own model student, exhausting myself with grades and incessant school work. It was an endless cycle. However, when I became a member of NHS, I was reborn. The Society’s four pillars—Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character—have gradually reshaped my definition of a successful student.

Out of the four characteristics of National Honor Society, I felt the most important is a character. It’s because it distinguishes how your behavior shows daily the way you carry yourself every day. Got to bat for your convictions about great and awful, be your best self, and oppose social weight to do the wrong thing for the right reason. Good characters show respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship in all their actions every day. “Reputation is the shadow. The character is the tree.” - Abraham Lincoln. The quote explains that character is something that does not change, something that stays with all you that which characterizes you. No other person can control it. Status labeled that other give you, so,

Scholarship, leadership, character and service are all characteristics found in a National Honor Society member. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the honor of receiving this NHS scholarship.

Throughout high school, being a member of National Honor Society has benefitted me in ways that have bettered me as a student and as a person. As a member of this organization, I have had many qualities instilled within myself that I will carry throughout my entire life. The four pillars of National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service have been brought to me through this organization, and without them I would not be who I am today.

The four pillars of the National Honor Society are scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Scholarship has always been dear to me. It has given me a focus to achieve and succeed, but life, as I have learned, is more than a lesson learned in the classroom. Over the past few years, I have strived to become a more well-rounded person, working to overcome my shortcomings to be a leader, to have strong character, and to be of service to others. Without a great amount of hard work, time, and effort, I would still be in the same position; struggling, trying to better myself.

The four pillars of the National Honor Society create a unique balance for any student that follows them. Personally, I excel in scholarship because I truly enjoy going to school and intend to go many more years in the future. My college interests involve the honors college at the university I am attending as well as a pre-medical path; therefore, my education, or scholarship will be a vital part of my college experience. In regards to the other three pillars of this Honor Society, service also adds balance to a student’s life. To serve others brings one a sense of integrity and an amazing feeling of generosity. Through the National Honor Society, I have learned many extraordinary ways that I can help my community whether it is something small

The four pillars of National Honor Society could not be framed more perfectly to apply to my future goals. In the future, I want to base my goals around rebuilding foreign governments and infrastructure, while addressing and solving desperate social issues as well. The four pillars of National Honor Society facilitate this goal extremely well for the following reasons. Scholarship is obviously paramount because the ability work hard to learn, comprehend and understand other situations in other countries is vital to pursuing progress. Furthermore, the inherent work ethic in scholarship and knowledge it provides is needed for insight on the inner workings of other governments in order to achieve my goals. Service is also incredibly important,

The National Honor Society is a great way for me to be able to interact more with my fellow peers and be able to discuss solve and help with any problems we or the community might have. This organization helps me build a resume that would really appeal to colleges and sets a foundation for my college application. The National Honor Society will also give me ways to mature into a better person and be able to grow in the right path.

As a National Honors Society student one of the four qualities we are to exhibit is service. I exhibit the quality of service by taking out time to go over and beyond the norm to help others, and the community. I have been helping the community and others ever since I was a child. Being an active member at my church, I remember in my elementary years helping feed the homeless at the City Union Mission. My time spent at the City Union Mission impacted me till this day, and now I prepare meals after church for the men that come to worship service. As a Christian it is important to show humility, and to not take pride in myself. I am taught to not be selfish, hateful, or ungrateful, I use what I am taught by my family, the Bible, church, and

Academics is a serious aspect of my life, and being a member of National Honor Society has certainly encouraged my dedication to my studies. I work diligently to keep my GPA up so I can stay in NHS and graduate with honors. Even with the advanced placement classes I am taking, I know that the extra work will help my future. Being a member has made me think more about my character and how I can improve it. I am more conscientious about my actions, and work hard to complete all of my responsibilities when needed.

I’m a smart, hardworking, determined, courageous, and generous individual. Unfortunately, during my 9th-grade year at Hyde Leadership Charter School, I didn’t display these characteristics. I faced challenges such as missing class time because I was in the Dean’s Area and serving detention. But I am a student who wants to grow and become a great leader. Over the summer I figured out that there was no way I could be both a leader and a troublemaker, so I decided to make a change. I decided to hang out with other people, leaving my old group of friends behind. I’ve found a group of friends that could support me, help me grow, and helped me

I have been raised on a dairy farm and my mom was also grew up on a dairy farm. My stepdad is a fourth generation dairy farmer and together my parents have taught me the sacrifice and hard work that goes into a farmer’s life. I am thankful for the privilege I have had in growing up on a farm and I want to help educate community members on the significance of our day to day dairy farmers and their contributions to society.

The reason that I am interested in becoming a member of the National Honor Society is because the National Honor Society represents all of the values that I find most important in my education and life. National Honor Society requires academic excellence throughout high school. At the beginning of my Freshman year, I set a goal to graduate with a 4.0 GPA. I have worked diligently to achieve and maintain this grade point average while taking several advanced classes. So far, I have taken three classes for college credit and plan to take multiple more during my senior year. Through the course of my high school education, I have realized how important it is for an individual to develop and maintain these studious habits. I am extremely honored to be considered in being in the National Honor Society. I believe that this organization helps a lot within communities and keeping grades up. That is why I believe I should be a member. I know how to keep my grades at the highest they can be, which in my case is a 4.0. I am also largely active within my community and school. I play softball for my high school and hope to be a captain this year since I am now an upperclassman. I also enjoy helping within my community doing things such as work, clubs, and travel softball.
