As human overpopulation increases, there will be a lack of resources and basic necessities that will become scarcer elevating crime rates. The broad field of forensics has numerous jobs that specialize in a specific duty. It provides and analyzes evidence in laboratories or offices that helps both state and local police departments solve crimes. As technology advances it also aids in the advancement of forensics. Forensic Science Technicians are required to have a variety of distinctive skills to assist in criminal investigations.

Well I want to become a TBI forensic technician to help bring precision in evidence and tranquility to the public. I want to make sure that with the evidence I collect and process for the state is nonbias. What Forensic Technicians do is the base and a huge impact on everyone else’s job, including the investigator and the labs. There is a lot of distorted information when it comes to watching the televisions shows on television such as CSI, Dexter, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order. In real life situations, usually the person that is investigating the crime is not the same person that does the crime lab. On televisions shows, they will only work one crime scene at a time and not many crimes that have been committed. As well the show will not show the numerous amounts of crimes that an investigator has to deal with on a day to day basis.

They tend to spend a lot of time in the the field taking photographs and bagging things used for their research while also making artistic sketches and and “portraits” of the crime scenes or areas of animal poaching.While all of this may seem easy or a load of work to some they also have to write an astounding amount of reports for the crimes they investigate. When they work in the field of criminal investigation if there is a homicide they have to take blood samples and do lab work to try and figure out who it belongs to and if there's any blood samples of a stranger.

They may work extended or unusual hours and travel to crime scenes within their jurisdiction. Some attitudes and dispositions one needs to become a Forensic Science Technician is stress tolerance, integrity, self-control, and being able to be independent. According to my Myer-Briggs test results, I can get easily stressed, which I can hopefully improve on and I’m independent, which is good if I want to become a Forensic Science Technician.

Professional licenses and certifications aren’t necessarily required but some forensic scientists continue to study to advance in their careers. Other important skills include having good and legible penmanship, open mindedness, reliable math skills and being an easy communicator. You also have to be okay with what you are doing. You have to be aware that you're dealing with dead bodies. It’s not just fun and games because the job pays well,you have to have an interest in it so you don’t get disgusted or easily bored of

It all depends of how much effort and dedication is put into it. Any person who’s associated with any forensic science related career, has a pretty high job security. Most jobs are employed by government agencies and that requires a lot of security as long as it is being worked within the guidelines set down by the agencies. Another reason why there’s a very excellent security in forensic science is only because there are always going to be crimes that need to be saved.

Similar to many careers, in order to become a forensic science technician, most places require at least a bachelor's degree. It is recommended that you major in either biology or chemistry and then minor in forensics. This allows for more wiggle room when actually applying for jobs. This is also an appeal for employers because they are aware that you are specialized in an area. I think that the most difficult responsibility of a forensic scientist is being an expert witness. I think that it would be challenging because you’re testifying in a very important court case, you’re under pressure, and you cannot lie, leave out details, or stretch the truth. Whatever you say affects whether or not the criminal in the case is found guilty or walks free, which can be very stressful to think about.
