Our personal values are the core of who we are and guide us in the decisions that we choose. This reflection paper is based off of the “Forced Choice Values Inventory” test that myself and a partner completed. My partner and I had to independently rank 21 different values in a variety of 5 grouping options. Then each value is ranked in using total points, which allows the 21 individual values to be listed from #1 (the most important) to #21 (the least important). After this was completed, we sat down, compared each other’s values and discussed what values were similar and different. It is interesting to see the differences in what I chose as priority versus what my partner chose as priority. When looking over the top ten for both of us, eight out of ten were the same. The eight values that matched were respectfulness, ambition, honesty, knowledge, sensitivity, manners, helpfulness, and intelligence. When discussing these similar values we both agreed that these were easier for us to rank higher than others and it that it felt natural. These are values that we believe each of us personally show within ourselves and the choices we make. There were also similarities in what each of us chose to list as the least important values. The common values we both had listed were obedience, conformity, and popularity. …show more content…
The first value discussed was punctuality which was listed higher on my partner’s values than mine. My partner felt that this should be much higher on my list and she takes personal offense to some who is not punctual. She feels there is no excuse for improper punctuality. I understand the feelings that my partner expressed, but that this is not as high as a priority when grouped with the other optioned presented. She said this was one thing about my personality that she was able to notice and felt I should take it more
Personally, it is not difficult to identify the core values that I hold dear, that guide my behavior. It is, however, much more difficult to rank them in terms of their importance to me. If I’m paring down a list of important values that I believe are most influential to me, responsibility, sacrifice, laughter, and integrity stand out as those that simply guide my behavior on a regular basis. If I’m attempting to put them in order, it would be as follows:
Kindness gets you trust and companionship. My second most important value is honesty. Honesty shows you are loyal and are not to do wrong by lying. The truth is always the best path even if it does not seem like it. A child who is honest is a child who is pure.
The values that supported my choice were to be able to save money and to eat healthier.
Values are often influenced by different ideologies, so it is important to look at these also.
PCF 3: I understood how distinct individuals’ personal values are and the need to acknowledge these personal differences.
My second top value was honesty. I feel that honesty is very important, and it is something that I use in my personal and professional relationships. I want to do the best job I can, and it’s important to be honest in what I am doing, what I stand for, and how I care of
I tend to value power of control over others (Project 2 Assessment, 2017). I would agree with these results based on the fact that I do like to give my opinion. This results from thinking my opinion is the correct option. I determined that I have achievement driven values. I believe I am extremely hard working. At times, I feel like I can become too hard working, to the point of completely draining myself. Other categories that I determined that I valued was self-direction, benevolence, tradition, conformity, and security. I do not value stimulation that much. I am the opposite of being a daring individual. I do like trying new things and going new places, but not putting myself at risk. I would never risk my life to seek adventure. To me that would be completely crazy.
values as important. You need to ensure that your behaviour fits with these expectations at all
Family and motherhood holds the #1 spot in my value system. I value motherhood so much due to not having it as a child, I turned into a young adult looking for love in unnatural ways never feeling love unconditionally. As, a 40+ woman, I had to evaluate the influence it had on my life choices, how looking for unconditional love in relationships lead to divorces and co-parenting of children. I realized after two marriages
#9 All you really need is love, so it doesn’t matter if you and your lover have very different values.
My family has always been there to support me and motivate me to be a better person. Faith is important to me because it helps me to believe that I can do anything I put my mind to and that when something bad happens to me it will get better. Honesty is important to me because I do not think it is right to lie and be misleading. People do not like to be lied to and do not like to be associated with dishonest people. Ambition is an important value to me because it is something that I was raised to have. I am known as an over-achiever and I always try to do my best at everything I do. I try hard to be the best that I can possibly be. Thankfulness is important to me because so many people take things and people for granted. Sometimes I may think that times are hard, but the reality is that it could be so much worse and a lot of people have life a lot harder than I do. Courtesy is a value I have because it is important to be nice to people. I think that being polite to people can turn their bad day into a good day. Accuracy is also important to me because I like to do things the right way. I would rather work hard to do my very best rather than take a short cut to not give my all. Financial Independence is important because I do not want to have to depend on anyone else to pay for my things. Another important value to me is affection, whether it is with words or physically. Showing people affection
It is important that you develop an awareness of what you value, as these values will be important in informing your relationships with clients, co–workers and employers.
Honesty, Love, and Dedication. These three values are, what I like to believe, the core of my very being, the epitome of what I seek to become in life, and the three major moral virtues I seek in my relationships with others. Honesty - named first as its importance to me is primary - generates a safe, secure environment that allows for trust, friendship, and genuine understanding. It also serves as the basis for all other values and relationships due to its vigilant stability and moral foundation. Love is the second most important value I hold to my heart. Without it, I don't think any human could find their way in life. It is through the love of others, as well as the love we show ourselves, that has the ability to save us from our struggles,
Values are the taking of those beliefs we hold true inside, by exhibiting traits in how we conduct ourselves personally and professionally. It is of greater concern of what is the most important to you whether it is honesty, good will, trust, and so forth to contribute to achieving goals, leading others and tweak those values that are more
Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an individual, a group of people, or an organization. Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each individual’s value system is different from one another because individual’s values are built up through one’s life experience, environment, and family background. Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys. Since we live in a highly connected society, each person’s value system does not only affect one’s own life, but also affects many other people and the
