I sit there quietly, watching as every ball goes swiftly through the mesh. The sound of shoes squeaking against the newly polished floor, and every bounce echoing throughout the gymnasium has now started to become a headache. The blow of a whistle brings everyone to a sudden halt, and each player turns towards the new coach awaiting his next instruction. I was becoming quite uncomfortable now, as almost half an hour had gone by and sweat was beginning to form by my hairline. It was a daily routine for me; coming to these practices and watching the coach give his advice as if I would ever be able to play the sport I once loved again. It has been almost a year now since it happened. Being there at the wrong time and at the wrong place was all it took. It wasn’t some drunk driver, nor was it reckless driving. The memories were now flooding back, and tears were threatening to fall down my face. I quickly pushed the wheels on my two sides and rolled out of the gym wiping away the tears. One accident was all it took for me to lose both my legs and the one person who I loved most, my father. *** I see my father in the bleachers cheering with pride as the crowd roars with excitement. Cold stone sweat rolls down my face from the scorching dry air. Each player was defending their own man, with pressure on both teams. The screeching sound of the whistle breaks the tension between the enemy team. The game commences. These last 24 seconds determines the fate of the final round –

Lizzy Minnerath Journal 1 Before I Go to Sleep 358 358/400 Certain songs may stick out and connect with characters in books. In Before I Go to Sleep the characters Christine, Mike, and Ben are perfectly represented by the songs “Who Am I” by Vance Joy, “Let Me Love You” by Ne-Yo, and “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye. The Song “Who Am I” reminded me of Christine because she is constantly confused as to where and who she is.
Soledad brother by Jonathan Jackson Jr. When i first began to read the letters they didn't really catch my attention much in the beginning. After reading and understanding more the book started to catch my attention more than i thought it would have. This book has a very clear meaning and description of oppression. The author goes into very depth detail about his point of view and experiences of the unfair treatment of color people.

People cheering! Stomping on the bleachers as hard as they could. Filling the air with noise. Everyone was standing p clapping and yelling. The other team disappointed as they saw the ball go into the goal. Their goalie tried to stop it but couldn’t get to it in time.
I was surrounded and didn’t know what to do. They were both trying to go for the ball. I tried to knock it down to my feet and try to kick it into the goal, but by then the goalie had gotten the ball from me.
Have you ever heard the saying, “have you ever wanted something so much it hurt”? Well, when I say it. I’m talking about literally hurting. Your legs are so sore, it feels like you can’t take another stride, your so out of breath from chasing the ball around, and your so exhausted from last nights practice, your bed seems to be the most attractive thing to you right now. Three hour practices of straight running, push ups, and sit ups has its pros and cons. Even at times when you feel like you need a break, pushing yourself through it is what makes you a better player. I choose to inform you on soccer because I’ve played my whole life, from 5 years old until my senior year in high school, and its something I know about. The three main
“If we don’t stand up for others, who would be left to stand up for us?” This is a quote by Karen Traviss, an author. This quote connects to a situation that happened to me, around 4 years ago at my soccer game.
The crowd is stomping their feet chanting “USA! USA!”, trying to make as much noise as they can despite their gloved hands and frozen feet. The entire stadium is shaking as the fans show their support for our goalie who just laid out for a stunning save. As we settle back into our seats, wrapping blankets back around our shoulders, I hear from behind me, “God is helping out between those poles tonight.”
PUNT: A useful way of measuring the sophistication of a soccer crowd is to listen to their reaction to a long punt by the goalkeeper. If they ooh! and aah! as the ball arcs downfield for 40 or 50 yards, chances are that they don't know too much about soccer. A long punt, assessed by
Central is very rare to say the least. The word rare having a good meaning to it. Rare meaning the community is not one that is not one have have ever been around. They are unbelievably supportive and the football team is so unbelievably close. The athletes are great there. I mean they are those kids that might drive one up the wall but then there are those who are great athletes and even better people. Going into this clinical rotation I was really nervous. I had somewhat of an idea of what would be expected for me and that made me really nervous. I knew I was going to be told I had to communicate with the athletes, coaches, and parents but was worried about what they would all think of me. I knew Katie was going to put me in charge of different tasks and would push me to become a better athletic trainer. Central is without a doubt the best community to do this in.
The sun beats down from above, the air reeks of sweat, a sea of burnt orange envelops me, the event is deafening, I can barely hear myself think. 100,000 faithful, all jam-packed, waiting for kickoff. Welcome to Longhorn Football. The ground is ridden with beer bottles, even though it's only 11:00 AM, the burnt orange stadium is visible from space. The band begins to play, the anticipation builds, the Texas Cowboys fire Smokey the Cannon, consequently the Longhorns burst from the tunnel, with one objective. Win at all costs, and within that moment, like a massive volcano the crowd erupts. Thinking to myself, looking around me, I knew my idea of football was about to be flipped on its head.
Struggles and difficulties will never be avoided; they are a part of life. And, whether we are ready or not, they are always going to happen. Life is ever changing, and as one season ends and those doors are closed, new seasons as well as new opportunities will come in place of those gone. As was the case this past year in football for me. For me, the most painful and most disheartening game one year (2016), then became the most amazing and elated game I would ever experience, the next year (2017).
That morning I had a really good feeling about today. That morning was a dry, and so humid you wouldn’t believe it. The sun was shining bright and the clouds were gleaming with excitement. It was Thursday. My team called it Championship Thursday because we were fighting to win a national title in Myrtle Beach. As I arrived at the field for our first game which was the first game of bracket play. Yesterday was pool play. We played 6 pool play games and won them all so that put us in the number one seed. That’s mean we had a pretty easy game ahead of us. As the day continued we one 2 more. We had a little break after the third game. Next game was what we were all dreaming of, the national championship game.
