One of the greatest advantages that focused groups have to offer is that it leads to more significant information, digging deeper and allowing for more insight. Focused groups allows opinions to be seen from all angles, allowing for diverse, in-depth discussion. Another great advantage of focused groups is if there is an effective facilitator, desired goal can be reached with minimal interruption. Focused groups allows for specific data to be collected that otherwise cannot be collect through other methods such as surveys. Although there are many advantages, there are many disadvantages as well. If there is a poor facilitator, many focused groups many be required to reach the desired goal. Poor facilitation could lead to ineffective communication.

The theatrical film The Lion In Winter stars Peter O’Toole as King Henry II, and Katharine Hepburn as his wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. Adapted from his stage play of the same title, author James Goldman provides a fictional, but plausible, account of intra-family deceit and political conniving within the large and powerful Angevin Empire, which spanned much of the land that is now Britain, and much of what is now Northeastern France, within the medieval world. Directed and edited by Anthony Harvey, the story, set in the winter of 1183, details the succession crisis faced by the aging King Henry II, as his three surviving sons vie for the crown, and Queen Eleanor plots, both with and against them, to regain her freedom, and become the

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) impacts millions of families worldwide (Watts & Zimmerman, 2002). In fact, in the United States alone on average nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men (National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, 2010). In light of this troubling information, the clinical social worker may find him or herself called upon to serve this most vulnerable population.
Bibek Gyawali Sherry Sharrifian GOVT 2305 09 April 2017 My Interest Group Our constitution and strong independent judiciary have given us the freedom and power to argue on certain matters and raise the voice towards it. I, as a college student, is disturbed by the expensive cost of attending colleges. So, to raise voice against it, I am going to create an Interest group called National Organization of Collegiate American Students Needing Help. As the name suggests, we will use less or no cash, hence will use the local and available resources. The foremost obstacle in creating a group is its impact and publicity on public. I along with some friends would create a proper banner or slogan which represents the issue and the side we are
The goal of the intervention is to help college students reduce their alcohol consumption to a healthy level. This intervention will be separated based on the gender in which the client identifies with. The primary reason for holding two different interventions based on gender is because gender norms are significantly correlated to high-risk drinking and men and women face different gender norms. The intervention would be a group intervention; clients will be able to have a sense of social support and identification with other clients in the group with similar experiences. I believe having a group intervention will provide clients will a supportive environment, which will help clients, feel understood. Clients are more likely to open up and
The purpose of this focus group is to gather information about what important information about what topics should be included in a community education series about frailty and the interventions to reducing frailty risk.
Peer led groups focus on connecting people with a shared experience or goal. Individuals work together to provide support and knowledge through their own experiences. Like any group, peer led support groups can be personal and stressful so my question is this; how do peer-led support groups function when emotions become high and raw? Group setting can be stressful when working with different personalities and opinions, so what steps can be taken to see to an effective outcome? Every group has a different purpose. Some groups are put together to create a final outcome whereas peer led groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, where the group purpose is sobriety and higher power, are put together to create an ongoing support system.
The topic chosen for this particular group therapy was self-care amongst college students. I chose this particular population due to the fact that I am in college and understand the importance of taking care of one’s self. As a college student certain times in the semester can be overwhelming causing students to stress frantically. Handling responsibilities such as internships, deadlines, homework, and final projects can become tiresome for a student. With such a high demand work schedule, students forget about the importance of keeping up their self-care. As a result, students are left feeling physically, emotionally, and mentally drained. Moreover, the most appropriate type of group would be an educational group. An educational group works with individuals in a group session by teaching a set of specific skills and techniques that can be utilized in a person’s life. As the educational facilitator of this group, I was able to educate the members in my session with specific tactics that can be applied in their college career. In brief, the three most important tactics to promote self-care are, managing stress, socializing, and maintaining an adequate diet.
Individuals attend group therapy for different reasons. Some may attend because they are mandated and others may attend because they are wanting help. Nevertheless, a screening process must take place to properly select individuals for the appropriate group. However, there is still a chance that the individual doesn’t make it for the duration of the group. While employed at New Horizons Behavioral Health REACH program as a psychotherapy rehabilitative group leader, I have experienced a few to drop out. Initially, I thought it was something I did. Later I found out it was the individuals’ personal choice to leave the group. According to Yalom, “ Clients will fail in group therapy if they are unable to participate in the primary task of the group,
The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog by Dr. Bruce D. Dr. Perry uses unconventional and insightful techniques to work with these children, and help them to adapt to social enviornments, florish in an educational
The use of focus groups as a qualitative and interpretive method of enquiry comprises of a number of strengths and weaknesses.
A Focus group is defined as a research technique that collects data through a group interaction, on a given topic from the researcher. Along with this definition are some essential components. Firstly, it states that, focus groups are research methods devoted to data collection. Secondly, it signifies the interaction of group discussion as a source of data. Lastly, it acknowledges the active role of researchers in establishing the group discussion in order to collect data (David, 1996.p.130).
There is irrefutable evidence that over the period of the Middle Ages, both Christianity and Islam have been anchors in both shaping and influencing governance of kingdoms and empires comprising Western Europe, the Byzantine Empire, and territories ruled by Islam. Religion during this period was widely used to set laws, influence culture, justify armed conflicts, and pronounce punishment on citizens domiciled within the geographies depicted within this essay. I will attempt to illuminate the geopolitical climate, territorial demarcation, and religious influences that depicted life circa 500 – 1517 CE. From the background material submitted, I will directly answer the following questions:
