Flannery O’Connor was an American writer who lived in Georgia. She wrote novels, however became well- known for her short story collections. She was a devout Catholic therefore religion was a reappearing theme in her works. “The Displaced Person” is a short story by her, and appears in her second book, a collection of stories called “A Good Man is Hard to Find“(1953). After the Second World War there were millions of people who found themselves in foreign countries and separated from their families. These people were known as “displaced person”, and were mainly former prisoners of either labor or concentration camps, prisoners of the war, or refugees.
