In January of 2009, First in Show Pet Foods, Inc. executive decided to meet with representatives of Marketing Momentum Unlimited, a marketing and advertising consulting firm. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce a program for First in Show’s entry into the retail brand of dog food in the Boston, Massachusetts, metropolitan area (Kerin & Peterson, 2009). First in Show Pet Foods, Inc. is a large producer of dog food for show-dog kennels in the United Sates. The company has become a supplier of a unique dog food for show dogs called Show Circuit. Using this type of channel strategy should allow for competition to increase their marketing advertisement to outshine Show Circuit dog food, which then could cause for Show Circuits advertisement and thus leading Show Circuit into a painful marketing death. As stated above, the type of communication that Marketing Momentum Unlimited has come up with allows for consumes to miss the advertisement due to the focus on TV rather than magazines, online advertising as well as newspapers just because of late night television. Unfortunately, the problem that is defined does pose a large risk that First in Show Pet Foods, Inc. will fall from the retail market because the public is either A) not aware that frozen dog food brand exists within the human food section at super markets or B) other dog food companies will take a more aggressive and stronger marketing point to ensure that their advertisement is all over the place from coupons to newspapers to magazines to television ads that will just saturate and dominate over First in Show thus losing them to people who just change channels when they see another dog food commercial.
