When the order for his team to join in the fight, Yanagita followed other members of Fireteam One as they rushed towards Site One. As usual, he got distracted with enemies that were easily to kill with his sniper rifle. Without telling anyone about it, he pulled out his rifle and crouched to quickly eliminate some Kett and regroup with the others. Within in a minute, Yanagita killed three Kett before they were able to attack his team. Not good enough, but the smallest actions help, he thought before standing back up to regroup with his group. Unfortunately, he did not expect to be attacked by a wraith. The creature charged towards Yanagita and managed to knock him off balance, landing on the ground with his rifle falling near. The beast looked at Yanagita and then charged toward him again; however, Yanagita was prepared and kicked the creature away with his metal foot. When he tried to kick the creature again, the wraith managed to bite it good. Yanagita, panicked and shocked, tried to reach for his rifle but the wraith tried to drag him away from the site. Thankfully, his omni-tool was still working perfectly, and he set it to …show more content…
Now, it was finally time to be reunited with his team. But, luck was never on Yanagita's side. Three more wraiths quickly surrounded him as their friend was still burning despite. Knowing that he was no match against them, he saw an abandoned loading shuttle and raced towards it. The creatures began their hunt as they began running towards Yanagita. Eventually, he made to the shuttle and dropped the leg as he leant on it while using his sniper rifle. He fired one shot that managed to wound one of the wraiths and realized that the rifle wasn't going to help much. So, he threw the rifle down and reached for his shotgun. Then, he waited until one of the wraiths stupidly decided to charge towards

In the Story Forged by Fire by Sharon M. Drapper. Gerald shows that he is a very brave person. He shows his bravery when he rushes into the apartment and puts his life on the line to save his sister from death. In the book it says “He opened Angels door, expecting to find her huddled under the bed or screaming out the window. Instead what he saw made him forget the fire, forget the danger, and forget the fears of the past.” This is showing a lot of bravery by running into the fire to save Angel, he fights Jordan and grabs Angel. As a result Gerald appears to be a very brave
Fields of Fire, by James Webb, is a novel about the Marines who fought in Hoa Basin in 1969. The book is told through the prospective of the Men who were experiencing the fighting and hardships first hand, and it is the most authentic piece of military literature I have ever read. It starts out describing the background stories of the two most prominent characters, Snake, and Robert E. Lee Hodges, JR. After these introductions Webb goes on to describe the Marine’s first tastes of combat, with grit and violence of the jungle warfare that was Vietnam. Hodges and Snake met when Hodges took over as platoon commander of the platoon that Snake was a squad leader in. After all the fighting was done, the story didn 't have a
In the “Children of the Flames,” the authors Lucette Matalon Lagnado and Sheila Cohn Dekel argued that Josef Mengele had a normal childhood, and didn’t start to become interested in his evil practices until after college. The authors first start out by telling the audience a bit about themselves and their credentials. Then they go into the background of Dr. Josef Mengele.
According to the film Escape Fire, the U.S. healthcare system suffers from multiple aliments. As I watched the film I learned a lot of topics the film covered were previous things we have reviewed or talked about in class. The film talked about how America almost spends 2.7 trillion dollars a year on healthcare, almost twice as much as any other country. Many of the American healthcare field organizations and hospitals are paid base on keeping them full and paying doctors by the patient so they try and see a lot of patients.
Fields of Fire by James Webb is a historical novel first published in 1978 that takes place in the year 1969 during the Vietnam War. Although there are many characters that are significant to the story, the novel focuses mainly on three marines who find themselves in a platoon with each other; Robert E. Lee Hodges, “Snake,” and Will “Senator” Goodrich. Webb gives the reader a great, detailed background of each of these characters through a combination of both direct and indirect characterization. As the novel progresses, major events that occur include battle and violence, loss and coping, and learning. The themes that naturally
“RICK, WHERE ARE YOU!” Nick hollered into the vast empty forest with a strained look on his face. His voice was not heard by a single soul worldwide...
For journal 3 I will be talking about the movie the Quest for Fire. This movie was said to be based 80 thousands years ago. It first starts off with a tribe living in a cave which looks like the tribes home. They do not have much but one thing they do have that they rely on for life is known as fire. When an attack on the tribe that looked like gorillas invaded the tribes home killing and injuring most of them. The attackers main purpose was really to just steal some fire but also took advantage of bombarding the tribe. The best thing out of the attack was one of the tribes men being able to save the long lasting fire holder. Not until long did the fire go out and they had no other choice was to get more fire. Thats when 3 of their tribes men were sent on a mission to find and bring back fire.
I drew my sword and charged the monster. It stabbed at me with its long tail which I narrowly avoided.
Most would call this battle a success. He shook his heavy mane of feathers while he ran as if trying to eliminate the memory of Zee exploding into flame. The loss of a single Gryphon life is too much to bear. How many more have to die in this war? He snorted, turning his head into the wind. Father feels we are close now. The Tlo%m war machine is weakening. They are losing too many soldiers, and their weapons do not work well within our protective planetary shield. Yet I have lost three warriors in the last two battles. Each one is like a blade in my heart.
It frantically moves around as Vyq'uerds attempts to take it down but with a swing of its bony tail it sends them all backward, most of them hitting the wall and others into the glass containment. One female looking Vyp’uerd hit the glass I was held in essentially setting me free. The was one problem that the creature, SCP-682 was looking for prey and I was directly in his line of sight. Before I could even make a single move he charges at me with speed I have never seen before. I try my best to move out of the way and toward the exit that was my only bet to survive. I could hear the creature’s roar from all places which put me on edge even more than I thought I could. I reached a dark room and tried to hide myself as I felt a cooling sensation on my leg. Suddenly filled with happiness I look down to see a gelatinous orange creature rubbing against my ankle. It seemed that when in contact with the little puppy-like creature a sense of happiness rushes through. It then grabbed my hand and began to quietly lead me to another room this time it seemed that there were escape
I stepped back just as the thing came into existence. It raised it’s machete and was just about to strike when I sidestepped of the way. I had two choices. I could run to the partial safety of my car, or I could tire the night out running from that thing. I then realized I my only hope to survive was to kill this savage. I broke out at a full run, my muscles tiring from fatigue. I turned the key and was surprised to see my car starting. I peeled out and kicked it into gear and bore down on my pedal. Then I hit him and I sent him flying. But then he rolled over and got up. His fractured arm snapped back into place as he looked straight at me. I shivered as a glint caught my eye. His machete was lying in the grass right next to me. He didn’t seem to notice it, but surely noticed me. He came at me with a renewed hatred. He lunged at me. And I dived into the grass, emerging with the machete in hand. I ran towards him and sliced, into thin air. The thing was standing in front of me and let out a psychotic laugh. I then grabbed the Reaper and sent the blade through it’s heart, or where I thought it was. Instead of falling, it dissolved into pure black
There was a man who was searching for gold in Alaska. On his way, he walked through the snow, getting to his friends. But he died on the way from hypothermia. (London, “To Build a Fire”) Why did he die? The reason is that he did not have the four important character traits to survive in the wilderness. On the other hand, both Louie from Unbroken, the novel by Hillenbrand, and Chuck from Cast Away, a movie directed by Zemeckis, had these for traits. What Louie and Chuck had was intelligence, creativity, resourcefulness and hopeful. These traits helped the men survive in the wilderness.
Catching Fire (Book 2 of the Hunger Game Trilogy) – Suzanne Collins – Published September 9 2008
In "To Build a Fire," Jack London expresses his perspective of the multitude of greenhorns who flocked to the yukon in a rush for gold. It is evident that he believed that these newcomers were too inexperienced and blinded by gold fever to survive the trip. Like many of them, "the Man" is driven by his own foolish ego to act irrationally and to not follow wise advice. Though his consience continually nags at him, his ego-driven way of thought keeps pushing him blindly forward. The Man is not only representative of other fortune hunters like himself, but he also repersents every person on this planet. All of us, at some point in time, pushed our own consience aside and followed our own selfish ego.
