Good Essays

The song “Find you” by Zedd ft. Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant fits various scenes in Macbeth. For example, the song states “I’ll build a city that dreams for two / And if you lose yourself / I will find you” (Zedd 10-12). This relates to Macbeth because when Lady Macbeth discovers the news of the witches’ prophecies for Macbeth, she is eager for Macbeth to become king in order for them to obtain the highest powers in the country. This is showcased in the play when Lady Macbeth states “And you shall put / This night’s great business into my dispatch, / Which shall to all our nights and days to come / Give solely sovereign sway and masterdom” (I.6.79-82). Therefore, she wants to “Build a city that dreams for two” because she is eagerly seeking …show more content…

For instance, the song states “Today I felt a switch in my vein / Today I made them all afraid / Used to be a shadow / Now a shadow scream my name” (OneRepublic 19-22). The line that states “Today I made them all afraid” displays the feelings of fear that many people feel after Macbeth gains power (OneRepublic 19). For example, Malcolm states “But, for all this, / When I shall tread upon the tyrant’s head / Or wear it on my sword, yet my poor country / Shall have more vices than it had before” (IV.3.53-57). In this quotation Malcolm discusses that even if he kills Macbeth, he fears that Macbeth has done far too much damage and killing Macbeth will only spread more evil among the country; therefore, depicting the instilled fear among many people including Malcolm after Macbeth gains power. Moreover, the lines “Used to be a shadow / Now a shadow scream my name” relate to Macbeth because before Macbeth becomes king, he is living in the shadow of King Duncan, but once he becomes king he becomes the center of attention in Scotland (OneRepublic 21-22). Lastly, the line “Today I felt a switch in my vein” relates to Macbeth because it symbolizes the change in character Macbeth experiences after he gains power (OneRepublic 19). This song fits Act III scene three for various reasons. First, the song states “I’m finally at peace but it feels wrong / Slow I’m getting up / My hands and feet are weaker than before” (Of Monsters and Men 2-4). These lines relate to Macbeth because when Macbeth sends the murderers to kill Banquo and Fleance, they are only able to kill Banquo and not Fleance. This leaves Macbeth feeling worse off than before Banquo was murdered. Consequently, even though Macbeth feels content knowing Banquo is killed “[His] hands and feet are weaker than before” because Fleance being alive instills fear in him once again (Of Monsters and Men 4). This is seen in the play when Macbeth states “I had else been perfect, / Whole as marble, founded as the rock, / As broad and general as the casing air. / But now I am cabined, cribbed, confined, bound in / To saucy doubts and fears” (III.4.23-27). This quotation showcases when Macbeth regains feelings of fear after discovering that Fleance is still alive, relating to the line of the song. Lastly, this song also relates to Act III because the song states “A thousand silhouettes dancing on my chest / No matter where I sleep, you are haunting me” (Of Monsters and Men 15-16). This quotation relates to Act III because it represents how Macbeth is haunted by Banquo’s ghost after Macbeth has him killed. Also, the line “A thousand silhouettes dancing on my
