Field trip observations: Lots of books by celebrity or well-known authors. Topics often cover ways to understand our current political and cultural environment (topics with mass appeal), or history, humor, sports, or diet. (It's interesting how many books on diet become bestsellers—it doesn't matter how many we've already seen; there's always room for another.) And I hesitate to admit how many samples I downloaded to my Kindle while I was browsing. This taught me that the first chapter of my books better be compelling if I actually want to make the
During my naturalistic observation, I was at my sister’s softball game at the field behind Bridgeport Middle School. There were two identical twins little girls, who were three years old, playing together in the practice batting cage. In the beginning, they were walking around together, eating popsicles while they watched two other older kids, a boy and a girl most likely around the age range of five to seven, chasing each other. The older kids were playing tag and invited the twins to join them. From their facial expressions, it was obvious they were thrilled to play with them; however they were hesitant to run and chase the older kids. They stood at the starting location and watched as the other kids raced back and forth, and had to move
After spending the day observing a fourth grade inclusive class and attending a fourth grade PLC meeting focused on testing, I began my community service at the after school program. I was quite curious to see what the after school program is like as I work as a supervisor at an after school program in Sussex County. At dismissal, all the students came to the cafeteria and began their homework. They were very talkative and sitting in close proximity as there were only a few tables left down for the students. Once everyone had arrived, the teachers called out that all students were to quietly work on homework.
history, literature, religion, politics, science, sports, or another branch of culture in a piece of text.
This report is based on a “Systematic Observation” (Berk, 2003, p.44). I designed a simple form to record the data based on specimen record and event sampling in which the
Today was my first time going to Cragmont this year. However, I have been going there for the past two years as well. Last year I was used as an aide so I rotated through classrooms and worked with kids one on one, so most
Hayden Park was an interesting place for a Freeze-Frame assignment. For those who have not heard of a Freeze-Frame, it is simply sitting in one spot for 15 to 20 minutes observing ones surroundings. So to continue, at first glance, Hayden Park is a typical Valley of the Sun type park. Most of these typical parks have grass, picnic tables, some trees, and usually some sort of sports availability such as a basketball court or soccer field, or both. In addition, the parks also have pleasant surroundings. But Hayden Park is located in South Phoenix, so automatically the typical standard for parks is altered.
When I first heard of an opportunity to partake in an field experience, I couldn't help but get a tad excited. My first field experience was with elementary aged students, it was an eye opening experience that made me realize that perhaps I would be more suited for secondary age students. Therefore, this field experience I feel more excited about partaking in since it is with the age group that I will be working with. That being said, I am going to be at two different middle school's here in town Anthony and Eisenhower.
Child development is an amazing thing to watch in the way that children interact with one another and how they perceive the world that surrounds. While doing our research of child development we began to observe a group of kids ranging the ages 1 – 12. During these observations we noticed traits such as attachment, comfort, and love. Through the following examples we will proceed to observe development in our environment and explain its relativity to the text
I choose to do my observation of society on August 23, 2015, at Kerr-Drummond because it seemed to be the busiest place on campus at the time. I began my experiment at 1:15 p.m. and ended my observation at 1:25 p.m. At first I did feel out of place doing nothing because it seemed like I did not have a purpose, however, I did not let it inhibit me from my research. Almost as soon as I had begun, a woman wearing an orange OSU shirt and shorts sneezed twice without covering her mouth. I felt semi-relieved that she was a little ways away from me and that the wind was blowing away from me as well. Unfortunately, the wind changed directions which then caused me to feel a little uneasy. After she had walked away, a male and a female who seemed to
For this project, I observed my mother's preschool class and the three children which she baby-sits on weekends. Most of the kids that are in the preschool class were three years old, but there was one five year old. The kids I helped baby-sit were two twin three year old girls, and one five year old.
The location of the observation was at the Community Center (Early Childhood education program) at 11:00am to 12:30pm on April 15, 2014. The meaningful experiences in early childhood education can positively shape children's development. With a teacher is guidance authentic child-art activity can educate enrich young students' learning abilities, encourage positive attitudes toward other children, and more importantly, learn to interact with people around them in the contemporary world. However, art for young students often takes many diversified approaches and emphasizing questionable practices. Observation is a part of meaningful and authentic early childhood art education. Observation enriches children’s experiences in
The following data was gathered while fulfilling duties as a principal intern at Theresa Bunker Elementary School. The data was observed during five to seven minutes of classroom observation as part of a walk-through in the spring of the current school year. My cooperating supervisor for my internship was able to go on these walk-throughs with me in order to have a productive reflection meeting afterwards. This elementary school has two of each grade level from Kindergarten to sixth grade. Since it was more feasible in this small school setting, I actually was able to do a walkthrough in eight classes. Here I will report my observations from five of those walk-throughs. As I went in to each room I was looking for four
General Observations: My past field placements have been in much larger schools; therefore, I was excited to have the opportunity to experience a rural setting. St. Rose is a small public school with a unique location. St. Rose is attached to the St. Rose Catholic Church. When I arrived, students were attending religion classes while teachers met in the teacher’s lounge to grade papers, make copies, and prepare for the day. Once religion classes were over, the “school day” started. I immediately obvious the students were very well-behaved; for example, students held the door open for one another and the noise level was appropriate in the hallway and classroom. Coincidentally, I attended a private school K-7th grade; for that reason, the atmosphere and behaviors observed were familiar.
Additionally, what people read influences how they perceive the world. In turn, this influences what and to whom they like and are sympathetic towards. I once needed to write a nonfiction essay for a school assignment, and I choose to write about video games, specifically about their artistic potential and about esports. I choose that subject since I love video games, and have amassed a wealth of knowledge about those topics over many years worth of
My first day of observations had finally arrived. Filled with excitement, I opened the doors to Pleasant Ridge Elementary School, and walked into the front office to sign in as a guest for the day. I made my way to the second grade wing to do my first observation for my field experience report. The second grade instructor greeted me as I entered her classroom, with a big bright smile I found made her classroom warm and inviting.
