Some things Fidel Castro have done are so immoral, that we do not talk to Cuba directly, we make Switzerland talk to them for us. Fidel Castro was born to Angel Castro and Linda Ruz Gonzalez which was Angel Castro, and his ex wife’s maid at the time(Gant 8). Angel Castro made life easy for Fidel, and Fidel’s five other children(Editors 1)by being wealthy as he owned a successful sugar plantation in the countries of Spain and Cuba.(Editors 1)The Castro’s family was a very religious family. They practiced the religion of Catholicism at a very young age(Walker 3). Angel’s wife was so strict about the religion that she would pray to the saints everyday to fulfil her wishes(Walker 3). They were so strict about their religion, that they only had Jesuite tutors, and only went to Jesuit boarding schools and only Jesuit schools (Walker 3). Fidel Castro was in much trouble since he was a mischievous young boy at the age of eight, so his father Angel Castro brought him and his brothers to a Jesuit boarding school in Santiago, Cuba(Editors 2) Since Fidel rebelled a lot when he was a young boy and into his teenage years, Fidel and some of his friends were kicked out of their boarding school, and sent to normal school until they were old enough to go into college where all of Fidel's work was about to begin, and he was about to become the man he will be for the rest of his …show more content…
Right before Fidel Castro was about to run for congress, Basista, the ruler of Cuba seized the government before they could have elections. This made Fidel and a bunch of people angry(Gant 13). Fidel and a bunch of other people wanted to take the government back, and get Batista out of ruling Cuba and make Cuba a better place, or as they said. First, Fidel thought that they needed to train first. Fidel, his brother, and 140 other rebels went to Moncada Santiago’s federal place and tried to seize their government, but it did not work and they had to retreat back home to Cuba(Gant). They knew they were going to have to get rid of Bartista since he was ruining the country. Castro and his brother, along with the other rebels, were ready to go and take down Barista They went to the Cuban government, tried to take down Barista, but did not succeed. They were sent to jail for fifteen years, but some of them were let out because of good behavior and were only in the jail for about 4 years(Gant 4). Right when Castro and his brother were let out of the federal prison, they look a cruise ship to the country of Mexico, and met a doctor to help them on their next excursion so they could still beat down and capture and take down of the government of Batista in Cuba. Fidel Castro thought about this, at first he thought if he ran for parliament, that
Fidel Castro rose to power in the late 1950s and became dictator of Cuba. Tensions started to grow between America and Cuba when Cuba cut American ties to isolate Cuba so Castro could gain more power. Castro also developed ties with the Soviet Union which was problematic since the United States was engaged in the Cold War with the Soviet Union (History.com). When the presence of Soviet Union missiles in Cuba was announced, a new crisis had taken over. In an attempt to keep the United States
The Cuban Revolution began in 1952 when a former army sergeant named Fulgencio Batista seized power during a contested election. Fulgencio was the elected president of Cuba from 1940 to 1944 and dictator from 1952 to 1959. Another one of Cuba’s important men is Fidel Castro. Castro is a Cuban politician and revolutionary who governed the Republic of Cuba. Fidel and his partner Che Guevara were both in charge of the Cuban Revolution, and made the isolated Moncada Barracks his target. Castro estimated the trip would take 5 days. However, due to engine problems, him and his men arrived late in broad daylight. On the morning of July 23, 1953, Castro made his move, but he needed weapons, and he got them. 138 men attacked the Moncada at dawn, many were captured.
In 1959, Fidel Castro came into power by overthrowing Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista and from that moment on the United States was very skeptical about him. They felt this way because they were very much aware of Castro's relationship with the leader
In the article I have found that throughout the rule of Fidel Castro he has proven to be a very poor leader that turned many of his citizens away from him. During his rule in Cuba he did many controversy actions that caused Cubans to flee to America, his family to leave him, and blockades to be put on him.
The United States has had a long history with Cuba. Within that long history came many arguments and accusations, such as the demand that Castro request that the U.S. embassy staff be reduced. Following that request came an outrageous accusation stating that the embassy was being used as a foundation for spies. This made U.S. officials think that Castro’s government was too anti-American to be trusted. Castro started nationalizing foreign property and companies as a response to the U.S., so the United States decided to cutback trades with Cuba. America tried to resolve the differences with Castro’s government through diplomacy. Seeing that they could not come to an agreement the united states decide to embargo trade with Cuba. Two months later, President John F. Kennedy unleashed the Cuban exile force which caused Castro’s military to kill or capture the exile troops.
The most assassination attempts on a man is 638, with him surviving all of them. Leading Cuba with the CIA on his back, them being responsible for most of the attempted assassinations, he survived every single attempt flawlessly with people to this day clueless about his technique for surviving all of these. Fidel Alejandro Castro dictated Cuba, until his brother took over in 2008, living a long life of war conflict along with revolution. The history of the ruler, still to this day, is very controversial. Many debated whether Castro was a great ruler or an evil dictator, the man had quite the reputation. With his quick rise to power, threatening tension he’s caused during the cold war, along with his communist views
Most people believe the United States is afraid of Castro. Although the United States hates him, they are more afraid of what would happen it communism got to close to their borders. Having the Soviet Union so close to
Fulgencio Batista was elected President of Cuba between 1940 and 1940. In 1952 Batista declared that constitutional guarantees and the right to strike will be suspended. He became a dictator with absolute power over Cuba. Batista turned the Cuban capital of Havana into one of the largest gambling cities in the world. Batista reorganised the Cuba’s treasury so that political representatives and himself can take freely from the riches. Under Batista’s rule, education and health care wasn’t free to the general public. The Cuban public were not satisfied with Batista and how he was ruling Cuba, the people didn’t have a say in decisions in government, were treated unfairly with high taxes, selling/giving the peoples land to American business owners.
Fidel Castro is making plans to overthrow Cuba along with revolutionary Che Guevara. The main reason why Castro and Guevara wanted to overthrow Batista was for the people. We had been suffering too much from the Batista dictatorship for a long time. Che wants the proletariat to have a leader that they can respect for our fair and equal views. One of the major aspects of the Cuban Revolution was the United States getting involved. The reason why the United States got involved was they had a good relationship with Batista and they were nervous that the Cuban rebels could take over property the USA invested in Cuba. The United States also got involved in the war because Castro wanted to become allies with the Soviet Union
Fidel Castro Ruz was born in Biran, Cuba on August 13, 1926 (Britannica, 2014). Born into a middle class sugar farm owning family, Castro grew up relatively affluent but his origins pointed to anything but a revolutionary career. “I was born into a family of landowners in comfortable circumstances. We were
Fidel Castro and the United States of America have a very tense relationship. The current president of Cuba has helped the less fortunate people of Cuba in many ways, but in doing created conflict between the wealthier Cubans who in turn have chosen to seek homes on US soil in Florida. Castro is a very powerful leader who speaks for the people, in general, of Cuba. Since the 1960’s when Castro took power US relations with Cuba have decreased and instead of indifference to each other, hostility has arisen main from the US towards Cuba.
The Cuban government was not ideal for its people at the time, so they decided to initiate a change. Before Castro’s revolution, Cuba’s economy was highly based on tropical fruits, sugar, and tobacco. During this time, the government of Cuba mainly consisted of wealthy land-owning conservatives. Fidel Castro, a strong liberal who thought the Cuban government was corrupt, decided to bring together a band of two-hundred revolutionaries (Carey, Jr. 15). These revolutionaries attacked the Moncada Military barracks on July 26th, 1953 resulting in a failure that earned both Castro and the revolutionaries a ten-year prison sentence. Two years into his sentence, Castro was exiled to Mexico and began to plot another attempt in Mexico City. After many battles with Cuba’s National Army, Castro’s rebels were able to keep Cuba in a state of turmoil while other rebel groups were able to gain control. Through his actions, he was able to gain the support of the Cuban people who thought he was the logical choice for the new leader (Carey, Jr. 15).
Fidel Castro was an important and ruling figure for nearly five decades in Cuba ever since he overthrew the military dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista in 1959. In current events, Castro, at the age of 90, has passed away leaving the world in awe and debate about whether Castro was a tyrant or prominent great ruler during his rule. However, Castro and his communistic ideas were able to progress Cuba positively in an economically, politically, and educational way including healthcare. Because of this, Castro remained a great and substantial leader in Cuba along with his revolutionary ideas of communism until recently passing away.
In 1940 to 1944, communist Fulgencio Batista withheld power as the president of Cuba and then from 1952 to 1959, United States backed dictator until fleeing Cuba because of Fidel Castro’s 26th of July Movement. Socialist Fidel Castro governed the Republic of Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2008. Fidel Castro’s intent was to provide Cuba with an honest democratic government by diminishing the corrupt way in which the country was run, the large role the United States played in the running of Cuba as well as the poor treatment & the living conditions of the lower class.
Castro’s immediate rise to power in Cuba was bothersome and concerning to the United States from the beginning. Although we were suspicious of his intentions, we were initially hopeful that the overthrow of Former Cuban President Fulgencio Batista would bring positive changes to Cuba and her people. But, Castro has shown us through his extreme socialist policies that he aligns more with communist policies. With the use of his Revolutionary Forces, he has gained full control of the Cuban Government, including operations, law enforcement, utilities, labor unions, news outlets, and financial institutions. From a humanitarian crisis aspect of governing, Castro is currently carrying out death trials and mass executions.
