Hungry Children in the World
General Purpose: To persuade A. How many of you are worried about where your next meal will come from? Are you unsure of how you’re going to purchase next week’s groceries or what you will be feeding your children for dinner tonight? This probably isn’t something most of you think about from day to day. When you are hungry, you eat. It’s easy for you to grab a sandwich, order a pizza, or run through the drive thru when you are on the go. However, there are many families, not just in other countries, but here in the United States as well, that are going hungry every day. According to kidshealth.org, a child dies from malnutrition and related causes every 6 seconds. B. Children all over the world are going

This food product includes rice, soy, vegetables, a vegetarian-based chicken flavoring, and a vitamin and mineral mix. Food scientists continue to update the formula. 2. FMSC sought to develop a cost-effective way to package and ship these meals around the country and world. After testing packing machines FMSC realized these machines were expensive and ineffective and that is how they developed the volunteer packing method they use today. To distribute the packaged meals, FMSC partnered with major global non-profit distribution companies. 3. In 2003 FMSC produced 3 million meals with one packing site and 17,000 volunteers. According to the Daily Herald, by 2011 FMSC produced over 133 million meals with 6 permanent packing sites, and a nationwide MobilePack program, and more than 565,000 volunteers (over half of those being children). 4. A single bag of food—which provides highly nutritious meals for six children—costs around $1.44 to produce, and 93 percent of all donations to FMSC goes directly toward the food program. D. It was difficult to read that countless millions of federal dollars and many of our country's most successful efforts to halt the spread of childhood hunger and starvation have recently been withdrawn. And as a result, this problem of childhood hunger is not getting better but is actually getting worse. The most recent estimates compiled by the USDA in 1999 indicate that 36.2 million Americans live in food-insecure households, which means that their access to adequate and safe food is limited or uncertain. This too is very disturbing information.
On the other side of the globe, in UK, MarketFresh have sent 10,000 meals across the the ocean (to Australia and US). The owner, Ed Boyes, stated that midweek is the time when people do not know
For several years, many partner international mission organizations had asked for school supplies. In 2005, it was decided to create a pack of school supplies that could be used by two children and that would be easy for donors to put together. I was asked to help create what is now known as the School Pal-Paks (SPPS). Between the time of creation in 2005 through May 2012, approximately 107,840 kits were
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC)–an invaluable partner in Love A Child’s Feeding Programs donates most of our food. The food is packaged and shipped in 40-foot containers. Love A Child pays to transport the food from FMSC in Coon Rapids, MN to the Port of Miami. From there, we pay ocean freight charges to transport the food to Haiti. Once in Haiti, we work with customs officials to have the containers released. Shipping such large containers incurs many charges, including: docking fees, brokerage fees, government fees, and more. Each container of food holds 272,000 meals, Love A Child spends $10,000 in transportation fees for each container. It is through the generosity of our partners, donors and the grace of God that we receive this food each month. That is 2,700,000 meals that we are able to distribute to missionary organizations, our Love A Child Schools, and feeding programs in many poor villages, each month.
As a result of your hard work, 252 boxes were packed containing 54,432 meals that will feed 149 children for a year!
The network offers more than just meals but also does friendly visits for the elderly and disabled that may not have family or friends nearby. They are working towards the goal that no other elderly person or disabled person goes hungry at any time during the year. Over 2,000 volunteers help in this program.
It's all about impact, and at the MCC, our volunteers make it happen! In March, 307 volunteers donated their time to help serve thousands of hot meals to anyone seeking sustenance. At the Millionair Club Charity, we understand that hot meal can be a crucial step on the road to job readiness and employment.
Louis Area Council has collected more than 50 million cans of food during the 30-year history of the drive … The Foodbank distributes the canned goods to more than 500 area food pantries” (Deickman, Christie). 2 million cans of food were collected in just this area, a powerful number that would not be possible without the generosity of the people in our communities. Every year, on a chilly Saturday morning, millions of Scouts rush from door to door, tying small blue bags on each doorknob as they go. All they ask in return is that those bags are filled with all the non-perishable food items the residents are willing to give. The Scouts even come to pick these bags up the next Saturday morning to take to local food banks, where the food is distributed to those in need in time for the holidays. Giving even one can would mean so much not only to the Scouts who worked so hard to make sure this happened successfully, but also to the people who need it so badly. One might even consider helping raise awareness by posting on social media sites about it, contacting local news channels and requesting more coverage on it, or even just telling your

What Wegmans relies is to have double the time, so they note that if the people will have the exact thing on the bags with different prices (5$ -15$ -20$ -25$) will be better for both the Wegmans and the donors. All donors have to do is to take the bags with the price that he\she want then buy it then fills it in the bus, so it can reach the children quickly,
For instance, the hampers contain an average of 6 servings, and the recommended serving for children and teens is 3 to 6 and 6 to 7 respectively. Also, the article mentions that food banks offer fresh and healthy products, such as, vegetables and milk. However, these supplies are inconsistent as it depends on the donations of the bigger population and corporations. In order to meet nutritional needs, the food donors are strongly recommended to donate healthy products and food banks should have safe food storage (proper

For most us Americans, knowing when we’re going to eat next is something we very rarely think of, and when we do think about being hungry we still know where our food is coming from. Three big meals a day, and a few snacks in between, is how most of us live. It’s hard for us to imagine what its like for those who go days eating very little or nothing at all. But unfortunately that’s how it is for most of the world and surprisingly it happens in the United Sates as well. There are many reasons malnutrition can happen, and it happens to every age group. Even though there are many ways to treat it, in the
