. Fascism and Communism are two different forms of government that were very similar. Fascism is a 20th century form of nationalistic, militaristic, totalitarian dictatorship that seeks to create a feasible society through strict regimentation of national and individual lives. Communism is type of government in which there is no private property and the government controls the entire economy. Communism tries to satisfy the basic needs of society by sharing work and benefits. Both theories were dictatorships that at first were loved by the people and soon later hated by them.

Both The Fascists and the Communists targeted countries in which conditions were poor. Both groups targeted the peasants and middle class for support. The fascist and communist movements also represented attempts to create revolutionary new modern states. Even though they tried to bring about revolutionary change, they emphased the revival of a national past and a glorified country. After the Bolshevik’s, Stalin became a ruler much like Mussolini. Both held a strong Totalitarian government and did not tolerate and protest against them. Propaganda was an important tactic for both parties. It was used in all aspects of the media and also included the emphasis on fear.
Despite the strong similarities between communism and Fascism there were also differences. These differences are best seen with the comparisons of the party’s leaders. When Fascism first began Mussolini turned to the king for support. The then Communists overthrew Russia’s czar and murdered the family. Mussolini rarely used murder as a method of controlling the public; while Stalin used it to kill thousands of innocent people. Mussolini was elected to power being the obvious choice to lead the Fascist’s but Stalin killed off the competition and forced himself into the position of dictator.
