In Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, family ties play a heavy role on Juliet's emotions and her decision making leading to her death. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet weren’t allowed to marry because of their family ties causing Juliet serve emotional pain resulting in her taking her own life. The family ties stared playing with Juliet’s emotions when her parents asked her thoughts about marrying Paris. When Juliet refused her parents, especially Lord Capulet was full of anger and says “An you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets, For by my soul, I’ll ne’er acknowledge thee, Nor what is mine shall never do thee good” (3.5.204-206). Lord Capulet is so furious with Juliet that he threatens to shun her from the family. Juliet is …show more content…
It all started when Juliet was heart broken over the decision of her parents for planning a wedding with Paris a man she does not love. At first, Juliet decides to beg Lady Capulet to stop this marriage by saying “ Delay this marriage for a month, a week, Or, if you do not make the bridal bed in that dim monument where Tybalt lies” (3.5.211-213). Of course Lady Capulet takes sides with her husband leaving Juliet full of anger deciding that she is going to take matters into her own hands and see the Friar for help. During Juliet’s visit with the Friar he comes up with this complicated plan of having Juliet fake her own death to get out of the marriage. Juliet agrees to this plan regardless of all the fears that she has coming true. Juliet then drinks from the vial she goes through all her fears inside her head and then saying “ Romeo, Romeo, Romeo! Here’s drink. I drink to thee” (4.3.59-60). Juliet chooses to drink from the vial which could actually kill her because she is angry at her parents which is causing her thought process to be real quick and not thinking things all the way through. The whole purpose of Juliet faking her death was so that she could be with Romeo however, when she wakes up she sees Romeo dead by her grave. Juliet then cries out “ Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end O churl, drunk all,
In Act IV of Romeo and Juliet, things start looking up for Juliet as Friar Lawrence gives her a potion to fake her death so she will able to escape with Romeo. Hurrying to the Friar’s cell to seek help, Friar Laurence tells Juliet to plead for forgiveness and she would drink a poison that will fake her death for 42 hours. Leaving Friar’s cell Juliet hurries home to plead for forgiveness and that she will agree to Paris’ marriage. After being forgiven Juliet is starting to have doubts about the potion, but drinks it anyways. Going on at the same time, the Capulet family is preparing for the wedding in the morning. In the morning, the Nurse discovers Juliet’s “dead” body and everyone is confused and saddened at the sight of their child
Juliet has no idea what was in the poison and still drinks it. Romeo’s mother died with grief of the loss of her child. Juliet was so blind with love she didn't think how this would affect her friends and family or even how Romeo would act about it. She never went over the plan with Romeo and there was a short chance of them
When people hear of Romeo and Juliet they think about a tragic love story of two young people who died because they could not bear being without one another, but how did that tragedy come about? Romeo and Juliet meet at a party one night and immediately fall in love. They soon find out they are from families that greatly despise one another and know that they should not be together but they are already too far fallen for each other. Romeo is soon exiled and so they decide to run away together because Juliet does not want to be without him and that plan ends up going downhill. Romeo and Juliet's parents were bad influences on their kids because of their refusal to end a long lasting feud, teaching hate towards the opposing family and pushing their kids to do things against their will.
In the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare two teenagers met, fell in love, and eventually committed suicide from the pressure around them. Juliet's family, the Capulet's and Romeos family, the Montague's have a strong rivalry between each other. In my opinion, the Capulet's are to blame for Juliet's and Romeos death. The Capulet's are at fault because they played a major role in the ongoing rivalry with the Montague's, they were pressuring Juliet into marrying Count Paris, and had Romeo banished from Verona.
Once Romeo got the news that Juliet was ‘dead’ he was devastated and went to get apothecary poisonous potion to kill himself instantly, instead of waiting for Friar Lawrence to get there. In the Play Shakespeare stated that “Come, bitter poison, come, unsavory guide! You desperate pilot, let’s crash this sea-weary ship into the rocks! Here’s to my love! ROMEO drinks the poison. Oh, that pharmacist was honest! His drugs work quickly. So I die with a kiss.” (Act 5, Scene 2, Line 120-125) . Romeo drinks the potion and It immediately kills him. Romeo drinks it because he thinks that Juliet is dead but she’s just faking it. He kills himself just before she wakes up from her ‘death’. Romeo thinks that drinking this potion will increase his love for Juliet, but it does nothing for him but make him die for a girl he barely even
Juliet wakes up from her sleep and finds Romeo dead, so she kills herself to be with him. As soon as Juliet wakes up, she turns over and finds Romeo’s body lying next to her, and not more that five minutes later, she grabs his dagger and plunges it into her chest. She is just as impulsive as Romeo. “Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end. O churl, drunk all, and left no friendly drop to help me after!
Is family always the cause of issues? Does the audience know how much our family reflects on our opinions? Everything that anyone does reflects on us, depending on our gender, age group, family, or ethnic background. If you think that families are hard on each other then think of Romeo and Juliet’s families, including Capulet, Lady Capulet, Tybalt, Nurse, Montague, and Lady Montague, and how they played the ultimate role in Romeo and Juliet's deaths.
”(Shakespeare 5:3) Juliet wakes up from the potion and realizes that the plan didn't go as how she wanted it to go. She finds him dead in front of her and she takes his dagger and kills herself so she can be with
O happy dagger!”(5.3.275)! All of the actions Juliet took even though she was cautious was because of her being an innocent person on not knowing true
The Relationship Between Parents And Children In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet The tragedy of 'Romeo and Juliet' is the result of feuding between two noble families in Verona/Italy. Romeo was born into the Montague household, who were the more controlled, quieter family. They did not 'enjoy' the fights therefore tried to avoid the feuds.
Meanwhile in Verona, Juliet is crying over Romeo but her parents think she is crying over Tybalt and decide they should marry her. Paris and Juliet are set to be married and this is a sin because Juliet is already married to Romeo. The friar decides to give Juliet a poison that makes her seem dead for 48 hours, this is believable and cancels the wedding in place for a funeral. Romeo hears that Juliet is "dead" and purchases a potion to poison himself and die with Juliet. At this point Romeo commits his final hasty decision and drinks the poison BEFORE he sees Juliet to see if she is really dead. He reaches her tomb, kills poor and innocent Paris and dies near Juliet. Juliet wakes up to Romeo's dead body and kills
“What if this is poison and i never wake up” (Act V) (scene 1) the potion is supposed to make Juliet fake her death but she worries it might be actual poison and it will kill her.
Ah dear Juliet, Why art thou yet so fair? Shall I believe that unsubstantial Death is amorous, And that the lean abhorred monster keeps Thee here in dark to be his paramour? For fear of that, I still will stay with thee, And never from this palace of dim night Depart again. Here, here will I remain with worms that are thy chambermaids. O, here will I set up my everlasting rest, And shake the yoke of of inauspicious stars from this world- wearied flesh.
Romeo and Juliet deceive others due to the poor guidance they receive about their situation. They resort to deceit as a resolution for their desperate situations. Friar Laurence performs their secret marriage as he believes that this alliance could ‘…Turn [their] household’s rancour to pure love’. Juliet is later forced to marry Paris and asks the Nurse for assistance. The Nurse replies that Juliet is ‘…better in this second match’. The Nurse helped Juliet to marry Romeo but as the situation becomes tricky, she betrays Juliet and encourages her to marry Paris; she provides poor guidance in doing so. This poor advice convinces Juliet to consider a plan involving a ‘desperate… execution’. This desperate execution is provided to Juliet by Friar Laurence who provides Juliet with a potion that puts her in a sleep like death. The Friar
To prevent Juliet’s suicide, the Friar comes up with a plan. He says to Juliet, “take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilling liquor drink thou off.”(IV.i.95-96) Friar Lawrence wants Juliet to fake her own death and lie in the tomb of Capulet, to get out of marrying Paris. However, this plan backfires when Romeo does not receive the letter that the Friar had sent him and he kills himself over Juliet’s ‘death’, and Juliet in response kills herself over his death. The Friar’s exertion contributes to the plot, because the tragedy at the end of the play would not have occurred without his actions.
