“Yes, Erin this is officer Basal from Patton Township police, I’m just calling to let you know we have something you may have lost. Just call me back at this number so we can talk”. My heart sunk into my stomach as I listened to this voicemail. I walked back to class with all my thoughts focused on that voicemail. “Should I call her back?” I thought. For the next twelve minutes left of class I sat there pondering on what I should do. How stupid of me to accidentally throw out my wallet with my fake ID in it. Two weeks ago after I realized what I had done and thought, “Oh well, I threw it out, I can't do anything about it now”. End of story, I just had to replace my fake ID, real license and debit card, no big deal. How did my wallet get in …show more content…
When in a vulnerable state, I feel weak and blind sided. Over thinking, in my opinion, can classify as a compulsive disorder by over analyze everything. I do not need to over think, but I have no control over it. It seems like an addiction. I feel stressed and frantic that maybe I will get fined, maybe I will have a record for having a fake ID, or even maybe they did not even see my fake ID. Numerous possibilities fill my head. I begin to finally work and a thought pops into my head that I should call back officer Balsar and ask her what they have found. She never even said they found a wallet and I ready can name all of my plausible punishments, jumping to …show more content…
How can I live in the moment when preoccupied thinking about how to fix my future? It appears impossible to live in the moment according to Richard Kotch, in Should We Really Live in the Moment, he wrote, “In short, we need strategy. We need a road map of the possible routes our lives - and our careers and our organizations - could take. We need to fashion a route that might work and is worth putting effort behind. If it doesn't work, we need to modify the strategy in accordance with the feedback we've received from "the market" - other humans”. I don't want to live in the moment and have no cares for my tomorrows. I comply with this because I have always lived to please my future
On 08/05/2016, I, Dillon Dickerson, badge #155, was working as a Patrol Officer for the Wichita State University Police Department, in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. At approximately 1116 hours I was dispatched to Corbin room 156A to take a report of a lost or stolen wallet. I was riding at this time as a two man unit with Officer Faison #116. We arrived at Corbin at 1117 hours and made contact with the reporting party.
I responded to Piggly Wiggly on US Hwy 231 in reference to a shoplifting call. While en route, I observed the suspect vehicle leaving the buisiness. I performed a traffic stop on the vehicle with the final being at Hardees. I then asked the driver for her license and identified her as Mary Jane Blair. Blair was then escorted back to Piggly Wiggly on her POV to be trespassed for the buisiness. Once at Piggly Wiggly, I made contact with Jonathan Richard. Richard advised that he seen Blair conceal a boston butt on aisle 5 and made contact with Blair on aisle 7. Richard also showed officer video footage of the merchandise Blair concealed in her purse. Richard also advised that Blair but the meat back after being confronted. Blair was then trespassed
On February 26th, I, Officer Albert, was working as a Police Officer for the Wichita State University Police Department. At approximately 0213 hours I was dispatched to Lot 3 on the campus of Wichita State University for a report of a theft. I arrived in Lot 3 at approximatley 0216 hours and met with the calling party Brandon Charles Feik. I introduced myself to Feik and asked Feik for his personal information. I asked Feik to tell me about the theft that occured, Feik stated he had a bunch of his belongings in his car after removing them from his girlfriends apartment earlier that evening. Feik said he noticed he was missing a black duffle bag that was laying in his front passenger seat after leaving Kwik Shop at 4802 N. 21st St. N. and arriving back onto campus in Lot 3.
In sociology, ascribed is a position or identity that is neither earned nor chosen, but assigned at birth or assumed involuntarily later in life like race, sex, or having a disability. On the other hand, proscribed is a position or identity that is earned or chosen such as gender, parenthood, or being a student. Having a minority ascribed and proscribed identity in a society that has not moved on from racial, economic, and gender inequality becomes challenging for those who are not the majority. However, there are also advantages to having a minority ascribed and proscribed identity. I have experienced the benefits and disadvantages of having a minority ascribed and proscribed identity. My ascribed identity is Afro-Latina, while my proscribed status is being a poor single young mother who is a student.
Social inequality has been a relevant issue since the beginning of our society. We are all affected by it, and it cannot be avoided. Reflecting this, Harper Lee fluently expresses the idea that social inequalities people inherit will end up determining the quality of one's life in her book To Kill a Mockingbird. People are born into many of the most common and discriminating social inequalities. The issues our parents face become ours as well.
The legal drinking age in the state of Colorado is 21-years-old. Like many who are underage, you may have used a fake ID in order to obtain alcoholic beverages. Although this may seem like just another situation of kids being kids, being caught using falsified identification may be considered a serious offense. At Roselle & Breitigam, P.C., we are often asked how a phony ID may impact a person’s future. In this post, we will discuss the potential consequences for using fake identification in Colorado.
Realizing that there were no other logical options I was forced to give up the money in my wallet, before they ran away to avoid detection. Following the incident, I had to file a report and eventually appear in court to testify against one of the assailants. Understanding that if no action was taken in preventing these men from going back on the streets, then another unlucky individual may be caught in the same situation as me, but in their instance they may not be as lucky as in my situation. Despite initial trepidations about appearing in court, I fulfilled my duty by delivering an effective testimony. This experience taught me to always remain calm and collected in the face of adversity even in situations that we may not be comfortable with, as it can be for the greater
It is as simple as being where your feet are. Worrying about things that are not in the present, and constantly thinking of what is to come or what has passed only creates “what ifs” and “I could have done this.” Rather than going back in forth, we must realize that everything in life happens the way it should and we cannot spend time overlooking the past and future.
Under an identity spoofing attack, a near-limitless type of information or data can be susceptible for gain by an attacker. However, based on content published by the CAPEC community, popular objectives regarding an identity spoofing attack often relate to gaining access to some area or entity, or deceiving someone or something to release potentially critical details or information (“CAPEC-151: Identity Spoofing,” 2017). Furthermore, a successful identity spoofing attack can expose forged credentials, such as usernames, passwords, or other forms of identification, along with other useful details or information that can be used to further exploit the forged credentials, or accomplish additional goals, based on information published by the CAPEC
Protecting your dental patient data has become critical in the day and age of cyber theft. But, dentists you must also be diligent in assuring you don’t personally become the victim of a medical identity theft and the negative effects that come along if your personal data is stolen. With all the talk about Obamacare and health insurance lately medical identity theft is a serious issue that doesn’t get discussed enough in my opinion.
“Hello, Jere Fran. Your black curls are just as beautiful as ever. Won’t you come sit at my desk?” My great-aunt Ruby used to say this to me every time I visited her. I would tell her, “Hello,” then follow her orders and sit beside her on the bed. For a ten-year-old, this situation perplexed me. My name was is Hannah, I have long brown hair, and there was no desk in sight. Why did she not know who I was? Why did she think her bed was a desk? My Aunt’s strange behavior was due to Alzheimer’s disease. She didn’t know me in the present but she vividly remembered my grandmother, her niece, as a girl my age, coming to visit her at lunchtime at her office. “Hello, Jere Fran. Your black curls are just as beautiful as ever. Won’t you come sit at my desk?” Aunt Ruby would say to her. My grandmother would take a seat in her office chair that swiveled, her dark curls bouncing all around as the chair spun. Alzheimer’s disease has taught me patience and inspired me to help others. The experience of caring for a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s disease inspired me to help others and is the prime reason of my career choice.
Teens are looking for ways to live the adult life. They drink alcohol, some cigarettes, go to bars, and try to go party at clubs. But for most teens, they all lack the same thing to be able to participate in these activities. Age. By the age of 18, 60% of teens admit to having a drink in the past month. Gaining access to the illegal substances to them can be challenging, but with the latest rise in the trend of fake ID’s, it has become a lot easier. Fake IDs have been an aid for teens who are looking to buy alcohol or who are trying to get into clubs and bars while being underage.
As Emerson perceived the world, “Man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoes to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time” (“Self-Reliance” 833-834). Even if a man finds himself with both self-trust and originality, he may never realize his true potential if he is preoccupied with past events or future fortunes. Emerson finds these obsessions to be utterly useless: “Discontent is the want of self-reliance; it is the infirmity of will. Regret calamities, if you can thereby help the sufferer; if not, attend to your own work, and already the evil begins to be repaired” (838). In contemporary society, a willingness to “live in the moment” is highly regarded, especially among youth, yet this acceptance seems to wane with age. Nevertheless, excessive anxiousness and nostalgia are a waste of the potential that can be realized when the truths of the present are
The internet always implies how one should treat certain social identities. For example, the internet make racist jokes about African American or other race to change the way one feel about someone. This can change the way one treat other people. For example, the media does not represent Donald Trump in a best way. Celebrities also voices their opinion about Donald Trump on social media, which can influences their fan's opinion about the president. These ways can either be negative or positive.
I purposely deny my own presence, my own authorship, and my own representation by declaring the ownership of my surrounding reality, and hence I see each image as a self-portrait because it is seen through my own eyes. By observing the world and myself in a different way, I declare the impossibility of identifying one’s own identity with nothing other than the void of my own persona. Through denying my own representation I allow these paintings to address the history and future of modernity declining, while simultaneously continuing the autobiography of painting in a relentless multiplication of my own self.
