Failure can strengthen a person by trying harder the next time they face an event or fear, or even just anything. There are many movies about failure and how they get better and better every single time they face a new event, person, or obstacle.
The movie “creed” is an excellent example of how failure can strengthen a person because he is trying to be a legend at boxing just how his father was until he got assassinated later on before “creed” was born. Behind time, creed had a boxing match to face, he had to fight one of the most petrifying fighter in boxing.
Everybody had doubted him and thought that he was going to get knocked out in less than ten seconds, but creed wasn't scared at all because he knew that this match was for his father
Creed is a movie about boxing with the theme of sport psychology that is derived and continues the Rocky film series. Creed is directed by Ryan Coogler, written by Ryan Coogler and Aaron Covington. In the movie Michael B. Jordan stars as Adonis Johnson Creed, son of Apollo Creed, Sylvester Stallone stars as Rocky Balboa, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Tony Bellew and Graham McTavish also star in this movie. The movie starts as Adonis Donnie Johnson is serving in Los Angeles juvenile correctional facility because of fighting. Apollo Creed’s widow bails him out and explains to him that he is her husband’s son, and takes him into custody.
I’ve learned that failure is a common part of life, but how you perceive failure is what matters the most. There are a lot of uncontrollable variables that can dictate a situation. However, the one aspect we are able to control is our state of mind and it is imperative to have a positive mental attitude. As described by Shawn Achor, in Before Happiness, if you allow a pessimistic mind set to control your outlook on a situation. Then, one will only focus on all the aspects of the failure instead of looking on how to improve the situation. Perfectly stated by Winston S. Churchill “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; and optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
Failure is a process that can determine one’s character. It is a process needed in order to be successful. Through life people approach failure in various manners. For example, there are people who sulk, people who pretend, people who repeat, and
Rocky Balboa is a struggling boxer trying to make the big time, working as a debt collector making very little money. When heavyweight champion Apollo Creed visits Philadelphia, his managers want to set up a match between Creed and a struggling boxer, promoting the fight as a chance for a "nobody" to become a "somebody" (Rocky). The match is supposed to be easily won by Creed, but Rocky sees this as his only chance to become big time. John G. Avilden's Rocky (1976) tells an inspirational story of a man reaching the American Dream during a time of his debt and doubt he became wealthy.
Failing is a very important part of success. When one has failed, they then realize why succeeding was important. If never failed, one will always think life is easy and not value success. As an example of failing, one can take Michael Jordan and research his life story.
When people fail at something once, they will do everything in their power from failing again. Failure is a strong motivator in school and in life. If a student fails a class, their grade point average, the student will have to repay and retake the class, they will
Everyone has failed at something in their life. You might think that failure doesn't strengthen you at all, but it does. The three main reasons why failure strengthens you are that failure gives you room to improve, it helps you learn, and it helps you later in life.
Cole Margetts Professor Myers Writing 15 18 February 2024 More Than a Name Craving success and a shot to make something out of himself, Adonis struggles to find his identity as he chases his dreams. In the legacy driven and nostalgia provoking movie series, Creed, Adonis finds himself in a unique situation with an opportunity to make a name for himself and the ability to live up to his last name, as the son of one of the greatest boxers of all time! Using a mirror and helping Adonis to self reflect, Rocky uses both juxtaposition and symbolism to help provoke a sense of identity in Adonis and allow him to understand that each fight is a new opportunity to make a name for himself and to achieve his dreams of becoming something more than just
People experience failure everyday. Some people choose to allow it to affect them negatively or positively. How you chose to allow it to affect you is a direct reflection of you. The biggest failure I experienced affected me so largely, first negatively, but then positively.
It is fantasy-based movie, inspired by the Rocky movies. However, it is possible that the story could have happened or is happening to a real person due to the issues presented throughout the movie. In a sense, the movie Creed is very similar to the musical film My Fair Lady. In My Fair Lady, Eliza wanted to learn how to speak properly thus, she increases her chances advancing in the community. Her inability to speak a proper English hindered her from getting a good paying job. Therefore, she went to seek help from Professor Henry Higgins. Earlier in the story, Higgins refused to help Eliza who had nothing to offer him. But because of her persistent and Pickering challenging him to make her a proper speaking lady, he took on the bet. The same plot was introduced in Creed. Jordan had a dream to be a great boxer, thus, he went to seek help from Stallone who had no interest in wasting his time teaching him boxing. But after a while, he agreed to train him but on his terms. Also, in both films the students Eliza and Adonis moved to live with their teachers Higgins and Rocky. In addition, at the end of My Fair lady, when Eliza left Higgins’s house, he felt that he got accustomed to her being in his life. On the other hand, the elder Rocky was living alone and he needed help from Adonis to go through his cancer treatment. Thus, both the students and the teachers gained benefits from being each other’s
Failing is not a pleasant feeling in the world, but there’s no other way around it then to learn from it and to get back up again. From our experiences, humans learn what to do and what not to the next time people try it again. In this world, humans must be able to get out of their comfort zone and fight against their will to give up in order to deepen their understanding of the world. In order for individuals to learn more, humans must develop a way to go beyond what is
When I look at the word failure I didn’t see success. But that slowly changed as I read the book What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain Chapter four. Bain, for me and I’m sure many other, have changed our view point on failure being a bad thing. He instead expressed failure as an “opportunity to learn something.” (121) As infants we grow and develop, we learn to walk by falling down a couple hundred times, and we learn to speak by babbling. By trying to walk, and trying to talk, we may fail at first. As an infant, you cannot give up when you are face to face with failure. You must get up and try again to learn. In the book, What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain he uses people’s experiences and research to explain why failure is an opportunity to learn something new, rather than seeing failure as something bad. He asserts “people who become highly creative and productive learn to acknowledge failures, even to embrace them, and to explore and learn from them.” (100) Failure is important. If we did not get up and try again as infants, we would not be where we are today.
Failure is a part of everyone's daily lives; however, depending on the person you are you
It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a motivator for a person to keep trying until the objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled.
Traditionally, failure is seen as a negative concept and is defined as lacking success. I, on the other hand, try to put a positive spin on everything in life. I see failure as an obstacle that is experienced by all, but it does not define an individual. Failure in essence will force an individual to be more receptive to their surroundings and actions and also will force an individual to mature. Looking back on my childhood years I can now pinpoint the areas where I failed and I can confidently say that I have grown and prospered due to those failures. The three major failures I have experienced were my attention deficit issues which affected my ability to succeed in school, my anti-social habit that I let consume my early years, and my
