Throughout my life, movies about extraterrestrial life and outer space have always seemed to entertain me. I know I’m not alone when it comes to this fascination because there are many who find joy, excitement, and mystery in many of these movies. Some people even take their interest to a completely other level by believing that these other forms of life actually exist. Although they might, others still go to the extreme by dressing up as them in science fiction conventions such as We Heart Nerds Con, Mysticon , Atomacon, Necronomicon (“Convention Scene”) and obsessing over the idea of one day finding them. I believe that people enjoy watching these movies because they like the mystery of the fact that there might be other forms of life other than us, the coming together of the human species to take down an extraterrestrial enemy, or maybe they just like to think about how far we as humans will come along in space travel in the future. For a great deal of time, the search for an alien species has been occurring. “The idea there might be other creatures in the universe has been around since at least the fifth century B.C.” (Zielinski) Whether it is going to the moon, putting out telescopes in space, or putting robots on mars, some of us like to believe that there are other forms of life out in the dark abyss of space. For people who do like to believe in such a concept, watching movies and television shows like Star Wars and Star Trek fascinate the mind. Just the thought of
People have been curious about what is out there for as long as humans have been around. In ancient times people used the stars to navigate and the sun to tell time and stories of alien lifeforms are a popular subject for Si-fi writers. On October 4, 1957 Russia launched Sputnik the first satellite, this was a huge step for space exploration because researchers were finally able to be at the place they were studying, space. Exploring space does costs a lot of money, for example, 18.7 billion dollars go to funding NASA (Life’s Little
The author believes nature is a way to be truly alone and sees it as the embodiment of perfection and beauty. Ralph Waldo Emerson uses figurative language (symbolism), comparison, and contrast to convey his message. In the passage, the author uses symbolism to portray to the reader how he feels about nature. He states “His intercourse (communication) with heaven and earth becomes part of his daily food.” This is symbolism because he is using food as a symbol for how necessary it is for Someone to communicate with nature.
When tasked with choosing a book from the library, I decided to search for books about extraterrestrial life, and more specifically, how the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Life) Institute is organized. For my “Writing, Rhetoric and Discourse” course, the goal for the quarter is to create a cohesive argument on any topic of our choice. While I do not have a solid argument as of now, I will be using multiple articles and documentaries to help provide my claim with evidence. However, since the quarter will be very short, I will not be able to read through numerous books for my essay. The book that I chose will be one of the few that I will read and analyze for my argument.
The topic of finding life on another planet, or seeing if we are the only ones in our Universe has been a mystery to us since the beginning of time. One of the closest findings NASA has found to this topic was exoplanets. Exoplanet is defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope is the main telescope used to search for exoplanets that have similar features to Earth, and habitability on these exoplanets. NASA has found over 2,000 exoplanets so far, and out of those, there are only about eight exoplanets that seem to have a possibility on being a habitable exoplanets. Among these eight, Kepler 62f seems to be the most plausible.
I believed that the alien that we are talking about here is not some unknown species on Earth that we have discovered yet. If people ask me about the definition of an alien, then I would say it’s an unknown and extraordinary creature that come from anywhere except the Earth. Perhaps if a special force attacks from the Moon, I would call it as an alien invasion. Ever since I know that our Earth’s diameter is approximately 67 trillion smaller than the while universe, I strongly believe that aliens definitely exist! The aliens are scattered all around the universe using different language, living style, transportation, and diet; basically every aspect of thing in our life. Honestly, most of the movies and shows that I watched involve aliens and supernatural forces; and that just shows how exciting this topic is to me. Therefore, I believed that this is a great opportunity for me to write an essay about my belief on alien ever since young.
Finding another presence can be thrilling, dangerous or scary. Scientific America states "Our species will for the first time establish a presence on another world. Some people like the idea of another presence. Scientific America also sated "The chance of finding life is what excites people." It would be
We live in a universe that is about 46 billion light years old. In a world, as massive as ours there must be some form of extraterrestrial life out in the galaxy. For thousands of years ancient peoples, such as the Greeks, have wondered the same question. Are we alone? As our technology advances, things such as videos and photographs are surfacing of people claiming to see such alien life. Whether it is an unidentified flying object, or if it’s from someone claiming to see an actual alien, there are thousands of people that believe they have seen proof. Some also claim that the government is hiding things behind our backs, like the Roswell UFO incident for example. Though many people refuse to believe in the existence of alien life forms until they see evidence, the fact that multitudes of people have eye-witness accounts, the improbability that we are alone, and the idea that we have thought of aliens so long, bring forth the evidence that proves something is out there.
With all our knowledge of everything around us, overwhelming as it may be, there are still a lot of aspects that are unknown to even the smartest scientists. Did you know that humans know only 5% of the entire universe? Yes, everything we know about the Earth, the Milky Way, and all the planets is barely even a fourth of what comprises the entirety of the universe. Knowing that, it would be illogical to say that the creatures on Earth are the only forms of life in the universe. Today I will tell you about unidentified object sightings, close
Point of View is an literary element that can change the perspective readers have on certain people and events in a novel. In A Separate Peace, Knowles tells his story from a first person narrative point of view. A Separate Peace is about a main character Gene and his best friend Finny who have a sort of friendly yet competitive relationship. Finny is lovable and pure, while Gene is competitive and jealous. Gene performs actions to FInny that jeopardize their relationship, and these action are the primary basis of the story, along with the theme of war that looms through the entire novel. As the novel progresses, the initial trust between reader and narrator gradually disintegrates as we realize that the main character Gene is evidently altering and suppressing information about himself and his desires. Gene is an unreliable narrator, and this impacts the story by shaping the plot, and shaping how the readers view our protagonist, and highlighting the theme of guilt, and the message that guilt is eternal.
Aliens and life beyond earth has been a mystery for a long time. Many people and scientist have been looking for life outside of Earth, or just floating in the sky trying to get video of it. For all of human history we have been looking for extraterrestrial life, and these are the major events of finding, debunking, and moving forward to life on earth
Well, how about the fact that multiple planets which have the ability and capacity to allow human lifeforms to survive and thrive have been discovered? Or, maybe you’d prefer solid evidence of these alien creatures. How about the hundreds of sightings, artifacts, and DNA proof that aliens might just live amongst us in the universe? If these arguments still aren’t ringing any bells in your mind, what about the fact that space is incomprehensively huge, and that we’ve only uncovered 25,000 light years worth of it? If none of these points still aren’t popping out at you, I have one last one that I will talk about in detail, along with the rest of these arguments, that might blow your mind. What if I were to propose that all of us human beings are in fact aliens ourselves? While all of this might seem like madness at this moment, I promise after reading what I have to say about alien life forms existing somewhere in the black void we call space, you might just second guess
Abstract: Scientists claim that other life forms do in fact exist based on probability. The conditions necessary for life are likely to be present on various other planets. Signs of possible life have been found in material from outer space. Much research has been dedicated to proving the existence of life on Mars. SETI is a program entirely dedicated to finding and establishing communication with extra terrestrials. If other life forms are found, communication with these beings will be a difficult task. Laws to protect humans from the dangers of extraterrestrial beings are already in effect. Although contact with alien beings has not yet been made, technology today may make it a reality in the near future.
Should we as humans expect to find intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe? There are many reasons for and against this concept, but first we should trace just how our terrestrial life started.
In reality, many scientists were skeptical of both UFOs and of alien life in general; they contended that interstellar travel would be easy for advanced civilizations, so the lack of overt contact disproved alien existence. Yet most UFO opponents do believe alien life exists out in the universe, just not here. So they defend the near impossibility of interstellar travel, which contradicts a considerable portion of the scientific community (Thompson, 1990).
To begin with, there is more than one sun out there in space, and a sun can contain about one million planets in space. Scientists have discovered about one thousand planets orbiting distant stars. They have much more to discover! There is a big possibility that in one of those planets life could exist. Another big clue that scientist have discovered is that there are many galaxies in space and we live in one. The galaxy that Earth is located at is called the Milky Way Galaxy. A galaxy can contain many planets just like our galaxy can contains over billions of planets.
