Have you ever been so stressed out, and tired of everything? Well students all across America feel this way. With school years winding down teachers are putting too much stress among the students to do well on state test and school assignments. So as a solution to the problem many districts have had the idea of extending the school day. This is a bad idea because the districts are putting out unneeded money, and for what reason?
To begin with, schools will have to pay for extra utility use because students will be in school longer so the expenses will continue to elevate. Also if the school days are extended then the district will have to pay the teachers more of a salary, and that will limit the amount of activities that students and teachers love. Also (The National Education Association) estimates that the average added cost would be around $1,200 per student, per year for most school districts. This is a problem that would happen if the school day is extended. (Sanders,2016)

It’s a very irrelevant solution. Research shows that .2 percent of students actually learn more, and honestly I don’t think that’s enough. Not even close to 1% and they want to extend it, doing that is just gonna cause more problems. Also research doesn’t support it. Research shows that students only pay attention a third of the school day, and adding more hours of school will make students even more miserable. Some parents don’t support this idea either because they think that doing this will eliminate the time that students have with their parents.
