Introduction
The chief of police in my precinct has given me a very important task. He wants to start a task force in the Los Angeles Area to determine the highest crime areas in the city. He has ask me to do this job because of my expertise in this area of the job. So I will begin by explaining to the task force how this research will work and why it is necessary. (Babbie, 2008) Descriptive research, this will not answer questions like how, when, why it has happened. It describes the characteristics of a citizens or circumstance being studied. Instead it tells us the “what” question what are the traits of the citizens or situation being studied? Although this research is highly accurate, it does not gather the causes behind a situation. So if we did a study on say “How many gangs are in Los Angeles?” This will give us an answer of how many of something, like a situation that is being studied. (Babbie, 2008)

Investigating a problem which will provide insights to the researcher. The research is meant to provide details where a small amount of information exists. It may use many methods such as trial studies, interviews, group discussions or other methods for the purpose of gaining information. Someone may want to take on some exploratory research to try to come up with a new innovative product to market. And exploratory research would be great way to decide if it is a good thing or not, in this part of town. (Tajalli, 2006)
Evaluative research is when you are attempting to evaluate the effectiveness of something. These researches are used in health departments, police stations etc. To study and evaluate situations inside the system. For instance, if you wanted to research the local police department to evaluate and decide if the body cameras are worth using or not, you would use evaluative research? (Suchman,
Research allows us to better understand what is unknown, how a human thinks, why a dog barks when they hear a stranger approaching or that the earth is round and not flat. Research allows us to find answers to the questions we have. Research attempts to both understand and define. There are three kinds of research; Explanatory; Exploratory and Descriptive research. Explanatory, Exploratory and Descriptive research define what research is; Research is the attempt to explain, explore and describe (Neuman, 2006, 24).
WHAT IS RESEARCH? It is a planned process whereby information is collected for a specific purpose, analysed and reported.
Research can be used in many methods, for example: questionnaires, television, leaflets, books etc. it allows us to keep up to date on the new findings or discoveries e.g. a new type of cancer or a new vaccination. Research is the investigation into
The mean outcome of IVH was the same for all groups whether or not the amount of PaCO2 was different.
Great post, I agree with you that the four types of research studies are needed in research. These four types of studies help the researchers to be more engage in the purpose of their study. To be honesty, I did not have a clue of what descriptive, explanatory, predictive and prescriptive were or how they play a part in research. My understanding has now increased about research purpose.

The field of exercise science is facilitating and understanding of links between fitness exercise, diet and health. There have been many studies that show how exercise and the human body interact. My main interest is being a physical therapy and showing how exercise can help the human body when used effectively. If you over exert yourself, it can cause your immune system not to function correctly. In this exploratory essay a comparison of a journal article and news article to find out that intense exercise can cause the immune system not to recover after exercise.
My exploratory essay provided my proposal writing with the research that I will need in order to write final argument. The research that I did for the exploratory essay helped with writing the hypothesis for the proposal, which will then serve as the thesis in the final argument. My proposal brings to light the different reasons that child labor is prevalent in businesses throughout the world. It focuses on uncovering the reasons that child labor is considered to be a significant problem. It also focuses on if child labor should even be considered a problem. Adequate resources are demonstrated through the scholarly articles that I provided in my literature review. The audience that my proposal is written for is my peers, professor, child labor
The purpose of this study is to determine whether socioeconomic status impedes the cognitive development of African American boys’ literacy in schools. This is a quantitative research study using an exploratory research design. This design will show how socioeconomic status correlates with poverty, lack of parental involvement, and environmental factors. The researcher will use snowball sampling to gain participants from a referral from an initial participant from this survey. The survey will be given to 20 participants at the City View Apartments in the West Blvd neighborhood community; that will have closed ended questions for desired results of this research. All responses will be confidential and used solely for the purpose of this study.
The exploratory research process is somewhat analogous to a signal detection and amplification system. The output is a new strategy and/or a roadmap for new research developments. The input must be identified through constantly scanning or “sampling” the environment for new research developments, then filtering these “signals” to identify a subset of potentially relevant opportunities. These opportunities must then be “amplified” through internal and external research before making a strategic decision to move them toward technology and product development [1, 3].
According to Depoy and Gittin, research is a way individuals think about problems in systematic way. Research is generally described as description, exploration, analysis, prediction and problem solving. There are different types of research and these researches are called the experiments, quasi-experiments and non-experiments. The purpose of research is to provide the insight to practice, it also enhance individuals understanding as well as developing new approaches with different topics, get to test your research for effectiveness. Understanding research is important because it helps to build individuals knowledge bases and informs decision making in practice. Research also enable us to make sure that our practice are up to date with relevant information.
Explanatory research is done to explain why things are happening. This is very important in the Criminal Justice field because if it’s impossible to understand why someone is doing something, it will be very difficult to stop it. This is very relevant to researching because of social problems. By understanding and explaining social problems perhaps they can be prevented in the future. An example of explanatory research from Dantzker and Hunter’s book is why particular people become serial killers. (2016) Gathering this important research that gives answers can help find ways to stop or try to prevent it. The methodology of explanatory research would be researching and gathering evidence then further analyzing that evidence as to why a specific event or issue occurs in Criminal Justice. Explanatory research is a very important part of all Criminal Justice research conducted, because if it’s not understood why something is happening there is a very small chance that it’s possible to come up with a way to stop
Research is a form of systematic inquiry. It sets out to answer questions through assessing, summarizing and drawing conclusions from what are often very large amounts of information.
~One of the goals of science is description (other goals include prediction and explanation). Descriptive research methods are pretty much as they sound — they describe situations. They do not make accurate predictions, and they do not determine cause and effect.
(iii) Historical and Descriptive Research: Historical research is base on the study of past events which helps us to understand the present and enables us t o predict the future. In historical research both primary and secondary data sources are employed. While Descriptive research is to describe some phenomenon or to documents its characteristics.
