Solar Energy/Power
1. Describe solar power. Explain in detail how the energy source is used to generate electricity
Solar energy is a type of energy that is used in many households all around the world it is a renewable resource meaning once you use it you can replace it. It is a great energy source that is going to rule over coal and oil when we run out of fossil fuels. Electricity received from the panels is light energy that has been converted.
The steps of how solar panels work are explained below:
1. The photons from the sun is absorbed by the solar panel
2. The silicon and conductors in the solar panel converts the light energy into a current of electricity called Direct Current, which flows through to your inverter
3. The Inverter

Spare electricity that wasn’t used is credited to the grid
5. If more electricity is needed then your solar panels produce, electricity is taken from the grid to power your house
2. What is a renewable energy source compared to a non-renewable energy source?
A renewable energy source is a source of energy that can be renewed or replaced like solar or wind energy, these are examples of renewable energy sources because they can be replaced. Solar energy, the sun will never run out (until billions of years later) and wind energy is renewable because we can’t run out of wind. Now, non-renewable energy. Coal, oil, gas these are all examples of non-renewable energy sources. They are non-renewable energy sources because once you use it, you cannot replace it. So renewable energy is energy that can be replaced and non-renewable energy is energy that cannot be replaced.
Is solar power a renewable or non-renewable resource? Explain
Solar power is a renewable energy source because humans are not using any of the earth’s resources and because the sun will never run out or be extinguished. Each day you will generate electricity from the sun
3. Advantages of Solar Power
• Solar energy does not cause pollution, whereas oil, coal etc. does cause
Solar energy is a renewable energy source meaning that the energy is generated by the sun. The way that solar produces energy is by the sun's rays that reach earth and converts into heat and electricity. Its transported by photovoltaic ( pv devices ) and solar thermal electric power plants. Examples of this energy source is : solar powered window blinds, bulbs, refrigerators, radios, calculators,
Solar energy is a resource that is not only sustainable for energy , It’s is indefinitely renewable. Solar panels also require little maintenance. The primary disadvantages of solar power is that it obviously cannot be created during the night. The power generated is also reduced during times of cloud
Immigrants who have illegally come to the U.S.., and have criminal convictions are being released from detention by the U.S. because their native country refuses to allow them to come back. After prison, Immigrants with criminal convictions are sent to a detention, in which they have to spend six months if deportation is not available. Due to this situation, many people; advocates and lawmakers in particular are enraged. Advocates and lawmakers believe that the U.S. could do much more to pressure uncooperative countries that refuse to take back their citizens. However, there are several difficulties that prevent the U.S. from taking action. It is forbidden to keep immigrants in custody when they can’t be returned to their homeland, therefore
explains, “A solar panel works by allowing photons, or particles of light, to knock electrons free
Laura is a 47 year-old woman who present a history of chronic feelings of dissatisfaction her and experiences high levels of anxiety. I will be discussing the Family System Theory developed by American psychiatrist Murray Bowen. The Family System Theory received its foundation from the General System Theory credited to Biologist Ludeig Von Bertalanffy. Bowen suggested that in order to totally understand an individual you must look their family of origin as well. Bowen believed families should be looked at as systems because they are made of elements which are individual family members. Each member has its own unique characteristic and has existing relationships with other members. Each family system has subsystem which are small groups within the whole system. Each system and subsystem has its own rules, regulations and boundaries which shape each individual member.
“22.1 percent of the energy in sunlight into electricity”. According to Kevin Bullis from Technology Review “First Solar Cell Break Efficiency Record”. As we know solar energy is a renewable energy source but how does it work? (PV) cells turns sunlight into electricity. Then is converted into an altering current electricity. An electrical power then sends power to our lights and applications.
Solar panels involve using the sun?s energy. Renewable energy is of any such variety that does not run out and is found with the help of natural resources, for example the wind, tides and sun. By using the renewable form of energy, one can get exposure to various benefits which would not be possible otherwise. However most people do not seem to have enough awareness about how this works, which is why they are not being used the way they should.
According to solarhome, the term solar power more specifically refers to the use of the sun’s energy for electricity.
The greatest energy that can be produced by the sun is electricity. Photovoltaics, or solar cells, capture the sun and convert it into electricity. Solar cells were discovered by the Europeans back in the 1870’s when they used selenium to develop the telegraph. They found that when light hits selenium it would produce and electrical current. Soon enough there were many scientists and engineers working on photovoltaic systems. Silicon and Selenium proved to be the two best elements to conduct electricity when light hits them. Photovoltaic systems (PV cell) work by converting the suns light into electricity. A semi conducting material absorbs the sunlight, that energy knocks electrons loose from their atoms, this allows the electrons to flow through the material to produce electricity. The further development of solar cells can be attributed to the satellite industry. Solar cells were expensive and there was no use for them until satellites came. Because it is impractical to tether satellites it became important to develop solar energy at any cost that would power these satellites. This created a sustainable market for solar power, the first of its kind.
Solar panels work by converting sunlight into DC electricity. These panels are made up of photovoltaic cells that are made into a panel by electrically connecting them. A large amount of these panels are connected together creating an array that provides electricity to consumers. The word photo means light and the word voltaic means electricity. When these words are put together it makes light electricity. Solar panels were originally used in space to power satellites. The photovoltaic cells are made out of silicon which is a semiconductor. When light is shined on the silicon it is transferred into electrical energy. The sunlight causes an electron to come free from the solar panel and flow freely that creates a current. The metal contacts connecting to the solar panels let the current flow into an electrical grid.
Solar power is nothing completely new; it has been used for years to power small devices from calculators to watches, but what is new is its improved efficiency. Solar panels can be used to collect energy from the sun and now are being used on a much larger scale. Homeowners and business can use energy generated from the panels to power their homes and offices and have it purchased by energy suppliers. Solar power is proving to be an economical energy source available to the public that is consumer friendly.
We cannot talk about the significance of Mexico to the U.S. if we fail to talk about the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This agreement essentially enables Canada, the U.S., and Mexico to import and export goods among each other without any taxes. The current U.S. administration is threatening to leave the agreement because they believe it has costed many manufacturing jobs. However, multiple studies have shown that the agreement had little to no effect on the loss of jobs. “A 2014 report from the Peterson Institute for International Economics said that at most 5 percent of dislocated US workers could be traced to imports from Mexico. It said over four million Americans lose their jobs each year by plant shutdowns and mass
Soon, planet Earth will run out of the resource that once was thought to be reliable. Earth is in great danger of self destructing if there is no backup plan. This is where renewable resources come in. Renewable resources are abundant and do not damage the environment, so they are a sustainable method to produce energy. The options for renewable energy are solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and geothermal.
Solar power harness the sun 's energy to create electricity. Solar energy assets are enormous and boundless, and they can be tackled anyplace that gets sunlight. The measure of solar radiation, otherwise called insolation, coming to the earth 's surface consistently is more than all the energy at present devoured by every single human activity yearly [1]. Various variables, including geographic area, time of day, and current climate conditions, all influence the measure of energy that can engage in for electricity creation or heating purposes.
Solar energy is the most plentiful and purist renewable energy source available. Because it is completely natural, it is considered to be a clean energy source. It does not disrupt the environment or threaten the Eco-systems the way oil and some other energy sources tend to. Nor does it cause greenhouse gases, air or water pollution. Solar energy is an immensely important aspect of life and has been since the beginning of time. Increasingly, we are learning how to harness this important resource and use it to replace traditional energy sources. Modern technology can utilize this energy in a variety of ways, such as; generating electricity, providing light or a comfortable interior environment, and heating water for domestic, industrial, or commercial use. One day solar energy may well become our primary form of energy. This would lead to a clean environment, less money spent on utilities, and a healthier world. It is highly important because it has the potential to allow technology and nature to co-exist peacefully.
