I’m not saying I don’t believe in ghosts I for sure believe in them, but I am saying that the Roosevelt hotel is not haunted. The reason I believe the hotel isn’t haunted is because the two articles that I read have the same stories and similar things. My explanation to this is that when i read the articles i saw the similarities to the stories. Another reason I believe it isn’t haunted is because I looked at a video, and the video talked about their experience in the hotel, but I feel like every video talks about the same thing whenever they’ve stayed their they talk about the same thing. My other explanation to this is that the video is just like all the other videos they show on youtube. My last reason that I believe it’s not haunted is
Through out the short novella, 'The Turn of the Screw,' by Henry James, the governess continually has encounters with apparitions that seem to only appear to her. As Miles' behavior in school worsens so that he is prevented from returning, and as Flora becomes ill with a fever, the governess blames these ghosts for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora, and labels them as evil and manipulative forces in their lives. But why is it that these ghosts only seem to appear to the governess even when the children are present at the time of the sightings by the governess? Evidence from the short story leads the reader to believe that the ghosts are not real but are merely the evidence of the fragmenting sanity of the governess.

In regard to Poe 's most predominant theme here, it would be "Gothic Romance."
The events in the home are a justifiable mystery and professional ghost hunters along with psychic investigators claim that the events that took place in the Exorcist and the Amityville Horror cannot even begin to hold a candle to the random paranormal occurrences that possess the Sallie House on a daily basis.
Located on the grounds of Roanoke College’s campus is the reportedly haunted house known as Monterey. This house was built in 1853 by the Huff family, over time passed through many different owners, and in 2002 was officially bought by Roanoke College. Throughout the history of the house several of the occupants are known to have died within the premises of the property, thus contributing to it’s reputation of being haunted. In our investigation of the Monterey house we spent two nights in the house gathering various types of data to aid us in our attempt to discover what theory of haunting is consistent with the experiences within the house.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when someone says, haunted houses? Scary? Ghosts? Studies show that people hear and see things that aren’t there when they are scared or frightened. Leading them to report “paranormal” activity. Haunted houses make people do that. But, in order to successfully understand the Amityville haunting, one must know the murderer of the family, the other family who purchased the home, and how the haunting of the house started.
In my couple I have heard many things about Macomb and the resident that live here. But what really caught my attention was the ghost tales I heard. With Macomb being s little as it is. With that being the town is unfamiliar to what I’m used to. I’m from the third biggest city in the nation (Chicago). With coming to Macomb I had a feel that the town was haunted. I have always had a thrill of knowing about ghost and their history. So with knowing that the university I was attending was haunted, it was amazing to know. According to residence in Macomb and the university, there are about 4-5 ghost haunted the campus. It’s rumored that multiple dormitory such as Tanner Hall, Bayliss Hall, Simpkins Hall, and Washington Hall. In Tanner Hall rumor
“A colonial mansion, a hereditary estate, I would say a haunted house” (Gilman 792) shows readers that the house is big, but also that something is off about it. To go further in detail, the room the protagonist stays in is described as a “big, airy room, the whole floor nearly, with windows that look all ways” (793). This just goes to show that the protagonist is lonely and that the house doesn’t help her case. The setting has a feeling of being trapped when she describes more of her room. “The floor is scratched and gouged and splintered” (795) and “this great immovable bed --- it is nailed
The White House is the home and workplace of the President of the United States since 1800, which was first inhabited by John Adams. This house was home for forty-three of the forty-four Presidents of the United States, two of which have actually died in the Executive Mansion, but also the presidents did have family members who died within the walls of the White House. With all of the this house’s rich history, it may not be a surprise that it is rumored to be haunted, and is considered one of the most haunted houses in the United States. There are reports of sightings of past Presidents and spouses by different Presidents, their families, and foreign dignitaries.
This controversy is beautifully delivered by Shirley Jackson into making the reader wonder if the house is actually haunted or if it is just the result of a mentally unstable person. Soon after, Eleanor becomes obsessed with the house itself and sees it as her sanctuary from the outside problems of the world. She begins to believe that she and the house are connected in a sort of way which leads everyone to believe that she is possessed. For her own safety, Dr. Montague urges her to leave Hill House.

Despite the increased emphasis on spirits as representing the psychological rather than as purely supernatural, the movie does lose some of the direct representation and explanations of history in the novel. Many of the scenes directly explaining and going through what happened in the hotel (that the dead woman in the bathtub is an old woman who had an affair and committed suicide, for example, the gangster violence that happened in the presidential suite is completely left out, and the party Jack finds in the book is explained and given context as one of the opening parties of the Overlook) are left out. Jack’s desire to write a book inspired by the hotel and a scrapbook he found documenting its history are also left out, scenes which directly
Then there's the White House in the United States. Considered to be perhaps the most haunted house in America, there has been several reported phenomenons, many of them believed to be sightings of past presidents of the United States. Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of Abraham Lincoln, believed strongly in the occult and often held seances in order to communicate with her sons. She had told friends she had heard former president Andrew Jackson stomping and swearing through the halls of the presidential residence. Jackson's bedchamber, also know as the Rose Room, is said to be one of the most haunted rooms in the White House. But he isn't the only president said to be wandering the halls of the
When it comes to theories and the fundamentals that they depict, we always wonder just how true can theories be. Often, we find ourselves believing the theory because it gives us some type of hope, or it can help to justify certain events. However, to truly understand whether a theory is real or not, we must be able to think critically. When it comes to this process, we must take these steps into consideration such as consistency, evidence, competing alternatives, and adequacy. The theory that the Mansfield State reformatory housed paranormal activity, and how volunteers have experienced this phenomenon. Leads us to question whether this theory is real, or could it be explained due to other causal factors.
Of course people would believe that it’s haunted because, I mean come on! It’s a mansion! A lot of mansions are haunted but nothing
These days, there have been a number of hotels in various cities, towns and countries. From when I was young to now, I have visited many inns since I loved to travel to somewhere. I had any feeling and impression about hotels where I have been before I became eighteen years old. Hotels were just hotels that I needed to stay for the night. No more than that I thought. Before I went to Canada to study English in 2011, my family had a plan to travel somewhere and stay in a hotel for my farewell in Korea. After we visited many attractions, we were heading to the hotel that we made a reservation. When I saw the entrance of the hotel, I was surprised at first, and when we went inside of the hotel, I was surprised again. For two days, I was very impressed and I thought a lot in positive ways. I always had a desire to visit again and I wanted to get a hotel like that inn. It was the first time for me to know what I want to become. The trip to the hotel was totally changed my life and my dream.
