In between 1500 and the 1800, Europeans nations have gathered resources from Africa and increase its wealth and national power. In order to have control over Africa, Europeans overpowered Africa with its technology advancement and its greed for wealth and power. However, what motivated Europeans to imperialize Africa? In order to imperialize Africa, the Industrial Revolution, resources, and Darwinism or nation competition was the motivation to imperialize Africa.
The Industrial Revolution helped Europeans travel all the way to Africa to conquer it with its inventions and scientific discoveries. The Industrial Revolution helped Europeans have advancement in technology which led to an easier way to take over Africa. In Africa, there was a disease called malaria that is caused by mosquitoes that usually live near the wet areas in Africa. In 1820, Europeans have found a method of treating the disease, such as getting the quinine from a bark from a tree called cinchona. Different countries in Africa have different resources that helped European nations increase their wealth. By the 1854, exports used to be low as about 3 million of British pounds for exports but imports were a bit more higher. Despite having low exports, the exports have increased drastically by the 1900. In order to get these wealth, all these resources from these countries helped increase this exports.
