What is bullying? Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. Why does bullying manifest? The three basic reasons why bullying manifest are jealousy, fear and distrust. Jealousy is an emotional response that arises when a person perceives a threat towards something that he considers as his own. This is commonly referred to as suspicion or concern about the possibility that the loved one may pay attention in favor of another. It is also known as the feeling of envy towards the success or possession of another person. Fear is an emotion characterized by an intense unpleasant sensation caused by the perception of a danger, real or supposed, present, future or even past.
A drug is purposed to induce stupor or insensibility to a person. Insensibility means to lack awareness or concern, which occurs when a drug is taken. People depend on drugs daily, weather it is illegal drugs or provided by a doctor. Soma in Aldous Huxley’s book, Brave New World, is not illegal because the government is ordering the people to take them. However, that does not necessarily make them different to human who consume drugs illegally. Having to consume drugs daily to keep yourself stable is addictive behavior. Some individuals could not imagine life without drugs in the real word, characters in Brave New World could not live without soma either. Soma is normal to the characters. They were taught during hypnopedia, that it is necessary for them to consume so that their system will be stable.

Bullying is defined as any unwanted aggressive behavior among students. Over the past couple of decades bullying has been on the rise amongst middle school and high school students and still remains a prevalent issue. In this paper I plan on addressing all three types of bullying and two solutions that I have found to prevent bullying. I will also address the advantages and disadvantages of those solutions and talk about which theoretical perspective aligns with each one.

Bullying occurs when one child tries to exert unwarranted influence over another, or the former mistreats the latter in one way or the other often due to a power play struggle between the two. Although schools have made several attempts to fight the vice particularly at the elementary level of education, the problem has persisted in some of the higher grades. According to the research by Swearer, Espelage, Vaillancourt, and Hymel (2010), bullying and teasing incidents increase in middle school environments as they have fewer structures for dealing with the vice. Incidentally, teachers do not see the need to supervise teens as they play, have lunch, or undertake other extracurricular activities as the society no longer considers them delicate. For that reason, middle school children are the most likely to experience or engage in bullying and hence suffer the related psychosocial, physiological, and academic effects.
