What is faith? Faith is something different to everyone. If you asked a hundred different people, you would get many different answers. Faith holds an extremely complex meaning when discussing it in the context of religion. Faith is a belief. It holds true to every religious and non-religious person. Every faith involves a decision. It is not about what we claim to believe, but what we actually do believe, that is true faith. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding, In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverb 3:5-6 That has to be my favorite proverb from the bible, whenever I feel like screaming “Why Me”, I simply play that proverb in my head and just tell …show more content…
In a time of need, faith is always the answer to the problem. God’s help is the best that you can get, he is the almighty and can teach us right from wrong. I went to public school most of my grade school years so I did not have religion class until 8th grade, but I attended Religious Education (CCD) every Sunday at 9 a.m. I had a great teacher, Ms. *******. She made learning actually fun, we would have a bunch of open discussions and at the end of each class we would play trash can ball with facts we learned in class. The only thing I did not like about the class is I felt like it wasn’t well organized, we were thrown all this information out of order and all at once. I had my first communion in second grade with my CCD class at ************, Georgia. I am not yet confirmed but I will be getting confirmed this year. I am very excited to be officially in the Catholic Church. I was baptized when I was very young at ***********************. My family is very religious. My family consists of my dad, my mom , my sister , me ,and of course my dog. We pray together before every meal and at night before we all go to bed. We also always attend mass as a family, It would not be the same going to mass without my entire family there. It is fantastic to have a religious family because when ever I have a question about the Bible or even my Catholic faith in general, I always have someone to go to. I feel very lucky
Faith is accepting what you are taught or told without trying to prove or disprove it, rather than discovering it through experience. Those who believe in God have faith. It has not been proven that God exists; similarly, it has not been proven that humans are kind, honest, and good by nature. Young Goodman Brown is a character in "Young Goodman Brown," who leaves his known world in Salem village and travels an unknown road in a dark forest in the middle of the night, a common motif in literature better known as the Hero's journey, and is faced with obstacles. He must decide if he will carry his journey out till the end, or turn back and not learn the truth about himself and other
I have always believed in God and had known for a long time that I wanted to be confirmed. Going through the middle school classes was a fun way to learn about God and talk to people my age who go to my church, but high school classes were a lot different. Middle school was filled with fun games and movies, but high school classes were slow and filled with flipping through Bible's and answering questions.
Faith is a state of mind through which goals, desires, plans and purposes are interpreted into spiritual equivalent and transferred it to infinity intelligence. Everything can be achieved if you believe in yourself.
When discussing faith is it important to look at the word closely and understand its meaning. The basic definition of faith is “confidence or trust in a person; and belief that is not based on proof” (Random House… 693). Whether someone puts their faith in a person or a religious being, faith can be simplified as having

Faith in Christ has given me a unique life filled with optimism and purpose. From a young age, I have been raised in a home where I was taught about the love of Christ. Not only at home did I learn about Christ, but at school and at church. Thus, my life has been filled with experiences that have amplified my faith. For example, when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, I found that my relationship with Christ grew. Through all of the difficult circumstances that I have faced, faith in Christ has given me the encouragement that I need to persevere through any situation. Additionally, faith has influenced my decision making, which is why I strive to make all my decisions and live my life according to faith-based principles. This means
Joshua 1:9; "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
What is faith? Is it a feeling, a thought, or a concept? As Martin Luther said in his book Freedom of a Christian, faith is “God’s work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God.” When one thinks of faith, they maybe think about their personal relationship with God and the unconditional love He has. “He who through faith is righteous shall live.” The Word of God cannot be interpreted by any works but only by faith. Martin Luther had stated that, “It is clear that, as the soul needs only the Word of God for its life and righteousness, so it is justified by faith alone and not any works.” (Janz, A Reformation Reader, pg 109)
My family claims to be religious, but most are content with being “Sunday-morning” Christians. If it were not for my great-grandmother, I probably would be the same as the rest of my family. She was the only one who truly supported my later decision to pursue God instead of flirt around Christianity. I would go to services on Sunday mornings, but that was about as
One argues that today we have a crisis of belief, not a crisis of faith. To explain this crisis, I will briefly examine the relationship between faith and belief, explain why cultural shift is important to note when trying to understand religious issues, go into detail on the three hallmarks of each of the two cultures by showing how they compare to each other, show how Tillich’s notion of correlation deals with this idea of culture and a crisis of belief, and explain how Marsh’s notion of a “theology of negotiation” (33) fits with Lonergan’s definition and allows him to argue that film can help us raise theological questions.
die. We need to accept whatever falls upon us and make the best of it
Faith and reason can be viewed as opposites. Faith is an element of belief, something an individual does not necessarily require a reason for accepting without reason. For example, an individual’s reason for believing in God may not seem too rational when they are trying to explain them. They may not even stand up to criticism. On the other hand, reason is constructed as a formula. Faith is basically something we believe in, like something we learn in church. Reason is something we learn in school, such as a math formula.
To experience a new religion is to open one's mind to an entirely new world. For my World Religions course, I was asked to visit a place of worship for a religion other than what I was most used to. Upon considering being raised as a Pentacostal Christian, the first idea that came to me after hearing this was for Billy and I to go with our friend Arjun's family to a Hindu temple—since Arjun had moved away recently to go to college however, he was unable to attend.

Forell's discussion of Christian faith and analyze and
