I believe that Excel can enhance the younger generations math learning skills. I think that as long as the basic math skills of calculating numbers are learned and mastered first, then Excel can be of a great benefit in the development of the critical thinking skills that are necessary to implement all of the different formulas. I believe that this kind of critical thinking that is required to realize how to formulate the data is a very important skill to develop. I do think that the younger generations and everyone else's calculating skills become a "little rusty" because of continually relying on Excel to do all of the calculating instead of doing the math out longhand, but this can occur even through the use of calculators. I think Excel

I helped the Infection Prevention Department in recording the device day counts for inpatients in different units. This is an ongoing project and require knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet. I was able to learn the device-associated infections and their impact on the patients and the organization. The reports are auto-generated by the EHR (Electronic Health Record) System. I am responsible for entering the Foley counts and catheter counts for eight clinical units within the hospital. The records are kept in the Infection Prevention Device Day Count Spreadsheet for the Infection Perfectionists to further analyzed the data and initiate appropriate communication with the clinicians regarding the risks of device-associated infections.
Before spreadsheet was invented, people used to do and solve calculations on a piece of paper or by calculators (they still use calculators even today). Spreadsheet was invented by Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston in 1979. Visual calculator was in fact the first commercial spreadsheet program. After it was invented, it made peoples’ life much easier in terms of doing calculations automatically, speeding up the calculations, lots of calculations are done simultaneously and also saving up peoples’ time. Spreadsheets are so important today because many companies and organisations use a lot of spreadsheet models to manipulate complex data/ problems as it contains accurate data. Manipulation of data can be applied to non-numeric data. It is a
b. Freeze allows the user to stop on a portion of a workbook and scroll up and down so that the user will not lose its place or viewing content.
In mathematics, the calculator can be an effective teaching and learning resource. Calculators can be used with children in all age groups, pupils can use calculators to explore and enhance their understanding of mathematics. It is important that children become confident users of calculators. They should recognise that the calculator is a tool they are in control of and understand how it can help them to develop their mathematical skills.
The generational link has been weakened by organizational changes within society that limit relations between children, teens and their grandparents and other elders outside the family. Respectively, this eliminates culturally beneficial intergenerational experience-based learning opportunities for our youth (Romero, 2016, p. 16). Additionally, an increase in intergenerational informal caregiving arrangements of aging parents have presented the need for a convenient and economic adult day care solution. In response, this report proposes the building of an intergenerational community center in Wildwood, FL. The report describes the projected benefits, amenities, and the intergenerational learning, sports and fitness programs the center will
Each group will pick a figure “Mayor, Governor, or President” and create a 5-6 slide, powerpoint about the person.
When I worked as a tutor/mentor for City Year in the Bronx, New York, I was in charge of collecting my whole team’s data. Our data included hours spent tutoring, classes attended, and the number of tutoring sessions. Having the ability the use Excel’s formulas to total each corps member’s weekly progress was indispensible. I could organize each person’s statistics on a different worksheet and still have every corps member on the same workbook. With Word, I would have had to create a different document for each corps member. And this would have increased my data input time substantially. Additionally, the organized structure of each cell on an Excel workbook made the aesthetics better for my teammates. Also, had I known about the Fill Handle
When it comes to working with spreadsheets, I feel as though we would use them more frequently than less to help us organize the financial aspect of my field. When dealing with clients, insurances, billing, and scheduling, I know for sure spreadsheets
On February 17, 2016, our Life-Span Development class observed the physical, cognitive, and social development of Asher, a 5.5-month-old male. The observation was conducted at Dordt College in room CL2260 and the infant’s parent consented to participate in the live observation. Asher was quite sick and later saw a doctor, so the findings of this report may not entirely represent Asher’s development.
In this course I learned a lot of new things, and got refreshers on things I had learned in the past. It was designed to introduce us to Blackboard, and understand online learning. We were taught our learning styles, figure out our goals, develop critical thinking skills, and learn about APA styling. Discovering my learning style will help me with the future of my courses, I will know what direction I need to take when completing my assignments.
Prenatal Development and the newborn: The focal point of this section was conception and the development of life before birth. I’ve read that every woman is born with a number of eggs that will later be released. Out of that number 1 in 5,000
Also teachers will be able see where each individual student is at in learning and which one needs help by monitoring their progress during class and on interactive sites like Khan Academy. The math dictionaries on the iPads will assist the students when they hear unknown vocabulary during class or during math videos and this will help to strengthen scores on math that require math jargon. Graphing calculators on the iPads will help to save money from having to buy new calculator each year that continue to be broken. Also with the use of iPads to work out math problems will help save money on materials such as a large amount of paper and toner that is spent to make the worksheets. E-textbooks can also be installed onto the iPads, which can save lots of money spent on textbooks each year for buying newer versions or broken textbooks. This will also help to save room in classrooms and less for the students to carry from no textbooks. There are so many benefits from having iPads in classrooms that it outweighs the negatives, such as budgets.
Microsoft Excel contains many useful features that I have learned about in my Unit 3 readings. The first would be customizing the quick access toolbar. Utilizing the backstage view by clicking the file tab, you can access a workbook’s options via the options tab. Here you can select Quick Access Toolbar and customize the options you would like to show. You can view the most popular commands, or a range of other options filtered by tab, or specific function. You can then add or remove the commands you wish to appear. I have added different commands like the camera tool, the SUM formula, and set print area. These are some of my go-to functions that I want to quickly access and this process saves me multiple “clicks” with each Excel session.
