The purpose of the evaluation is to make sure that our program as a whole is on the track to success. We want to evaluate our current problems as well as future problems we may have and see if we can solve them now rather than later. We want to make sure that our entire program is on a steady path and that we will not be blindsided by any issues that may arise. Our program rationale is a key component to developing our program as we want our goals and objectives to be clear as well as how we will identify the needs of the community that need to be met.
Program Rationale:
Community Service Program
Problem: High School dropout and neighborhood crime
Why this is a problem: The community we are working with is dealing with large numbers of high

We have many people who are willing to become trained volunteers and children that want to participate and sign up with our after school programs. We are slightly worried about the neighborhood crime rate still. This issue will be our hardest to combat and we know we will have to take our time if we want to see a real change. We are willing and ready to go full force and do what is necessary, but we also realize that this will take time.
Our Community Service Program is mainly described as being a neighborhood watch program as well as a after school program. Our goal is to form a community collaboration to fight crime and minimize the student dropout rates. We plan to have police officers train our volunteers and choose areas to monitor in the neighborhood that are crime ridden. We will also work to add more police officers to those areas as well. Churches and schools will offer after school programs as well as tutors to help children succeed in

We want the community that we are working with to have healthy and safe areas for their children to grow up in. We believe that our program will be able to provide those spaces. By allowing the children of the community to have areas that are geared towards them and their learning we hope to create a healthy relationship towards children and education. By lowering the crime rates we also hope to see less children joining in on the crime and more children joining in on education and success. Our programs are centered towards helping children find happiness and hope in education as well as helping those who are willing to to their involvement with crime. We offer those who are willing a helping hand in turning their lives around and a chance to better their community and it’s future. The public health of the community in Inglewood is a huge part of our program and we believe that our ideas, volunteers, and dedication can turn the community
First, would look at my measurement method to make sure that it is reliable and valid. Making sure that the measurements are representing the people and the program accurately, enough sample size is use to represent the program, and make sure there is no participants contamination. Second, the time from when the program started and when the evaluation process starts can also show that the program have no impact. It takes a long time for programs to work out the kink and bumps along the way and sometimes having an evaluation conducted within a year will not show the program at its full potential. There is also the sleeper effect where the program will not show impact until a much later time. Having an open and clear communication with the stakeholders will let me know what they are looking in the program evaluation so that I can focus on those aspects to make sure I use accurate
Program planning sets the stage for realistic program goals and organizes a plan of action. Program evaluation provides the program staff with the opportunity to make adjustments and improvements to the program. Program evaluation provides the important input necessary for ongoing progress and planning.
The Southside Oroville community has a population of 5, 742, that has different ethnicities: White, African American, Asians, and Hispanic or Latino. This is a low-income community. In this community there is a lot of crimes that involves gang fights and drugs. There are always people walking in the streets, it does not matter if it’s A.M. or P.M. The rest the town avoids going to this area, because they think it’s a dangerous area to be around. It’s a community that needs support to take all they drug and gangs out, so they can come a united community and make it a good community. Some of the stakeholders are people from the own community, specially the older members. Other people interest from the Butte County came to help the community get the needs there have been asking for.
Community service is an act of selflessness that grows a caring community. Community only consists on what it’s members are willing to contribute to it. Personally, it is my pristine pride to assist the community in it’s development it into a bountiful place for all.
Results from Chicago’s Project Safe Neighborhoods showed a 37 percent decrease each month in homicide cases. Before Project Safe Neighborhoods was created the homicide rate was up to 60 percent. Not only did Chicago see a difference in homicide rates, but, those who attended the small community programs were 30 percent less likely to return to prison. Research done through a survey with a 150 offenders showed that the small programs made a positive impact on showing a good relationship between the police and offenders. The
Evaluation is a process that is used to look at the project, policy or program critically. This will also help to identify any of the weak areas and changes that need to be made in the policy.

What does community service means to me? Well, to me community service mean helping your community become a better place. When you do things for your neighborhood, it makes you feel like a better person. There are all sorts of activities you can do in your community. You can work with children at school, work with the elderly, or help people that are less fortunate and make their day very special. Community Service is very important because it gives you a chance to bond with the people in your neighborhood. It will also give you a chance to give back to your community , you’ll learn a lot from your experience, and you’ll make a difference in someone’s life. I recommend a lot of people to go out and make a difference.
The most promising activities that I found to be most beneficial to our community would be to establish a foot patrol program and police-school liaison programs. The foot patrol program has been implemented in several states and proven to be success. This will help our officers get to know the residents that they serve and begin to build a trust between the two. In Flint, Michigan the program showed to reduce fear of crime and create an optimistic awareness about the neighborhood and the officers patrolling (Miller, Hess, & Orthmann, 2014). While this can create a positive influence on the residents of the community and help reduce crime in neighborhoods, there could be an influx of crime with commercial properties like in Boston, Massachusetts
The Highlands is a low-income community that is facing a major issue with crime caused by adolescents. Instances of criminal activity inflicted by the youth in a community is an issue that plagues many areas in our country. The Highlands is facing types of criminal activity that frequently ranges from vandalism, theft, burglaries and assaults on other members of the community. There is also a fear from the community that gangs from neighboring areas are going to move into The Highlands. The areas schools have about a 40% drop out rate and a not very diverse, but committed, police department. City officials and leaders of the community want to decrease the area’s crime rate by being more proactive with its adolescents and the opportunities
Program performance evaluation and measurement is paramount to assure that efforts and resources that provided are resulting the desired outcomes. There are two main reasons why evaluating and measuring the program are important:
Gun violence is a problem that has been growing in many cities across the United States. It is important for Federal and local Law Enforcement agencies to work together to enforce the Project Safe Neighborhoods and other projects similar in cities and communities where the homicide and gun violence rates are crucially high. It is each officer’s duty to make sure we do our duty as Law Enforcement to provide safe neighborhoods and save lives every day. By placing Project Safe Neighborhoods in high crime areas, the project will put in place and enforce new programs and policies for those who have committed gun crimes and are reoccurring felons. Through the use
Neighborhood Watch program was designed to prevent criminal activity then reduces crimes in the neighborhood by unitizing the people in the neighborhood. The program will unitize people who will volunteer to observe the neighborhood for any criminal activity. The volunteers will pick certain times of the day and week to watch the neighborhood. In their duties, the volunteer upon noticing any criminal activates will then contact the local police department. The program will have a meeting that is decided on either monthly or weekly as to what will be the best way to handle situations preventing the volunteer from taking the matter into their own hands creating a safety risk to them or someone else. The meetings will assess what if anything needs to be an improvement on the program then what part of the neighborhood that needs more attention due to criminal activity. The volunteers while performing their duties will know where the most criminal actives happen which then will require them to assess what they must do to prevent such activities. This program must require the assistance of the Local Police Department, who will help the citizens of the neighborhood in preventing criminal actives. I have reacted on administrative calls in some neighborhoods and houses that were empty, which are used for drug houses or drug use or anything of criminal activity. I have seen this multiple times on administrative calls in and around the neighborhoods and homes. I have observed too
The term ‘‘service-learning’’ means a method (A) under which students or participants learn and develop through active participation in thoughtfully organized service that (i) is conducted in and meets the needs of a community; (ii) is coordinated with an elementary school, secondary school, institution of higher education, or community service program, and with the community; and (iii) helps foster civic responsibility; and (B) that (i) is integrated into and enhances the academic curriculum of the students, or the educational components of the community service program in which the
In Chattanooga the issue is growing and we need to take action. The Violence Reduction Initiative is a long term solution to an immediate problem. The violence is as high as its ever been, with over 20 gang related homicides a year There are an abundance of gang members attempting to escape the tyranny in their neighborhoods and all we have to do is present them with the opportunity. Maybe this solution will give the push this city needs, or at least clean up the streets long enough for the VRI to start showing
