Peaceful resistance is a mannerism that brings positive impacts to the idea of a "free society". However, one can say that the extent of a certain few brought a negative cloud of shame onto the idea. There have been many examples in our history that prove that one can resist peacefully without disturbing the rights and liberties of one's neighbor. Many would agree that when the negatives or "the ugly side" of an idea is emerged, that is all anyone will ever remember. One can claim the resistance of Rosa Parks was peaceful and dignified. Rosa Parks sat in her seat calmly and portrayed no violent actions to anyone else on the bus. This act of resistance is remembered and taught to children of all ages. In other words, our country has gone into a rebellion. In the most recent of times, one could recall the name of Edward Snowden. Snowden felt that if the government could record conversation of any civilian, then everyone's business should be open for the world to see. Snowden's resistance was not only reckless, but could be deemed and act of treason to the United States. This man put the safety of others in danger. Another recent act of resistance would come from the riots in Oregon after the Presidential election. Anti-Trump groups created riots in the streets. The protesters threw projectiles at police officers and blocked areas so others could not enter. This act of resistance is childish and dangerous. The protesters showed their anger of Trump in ways that could have killed many. These are the negative and harmful ways of showing one's opinion about an idea or subject.
