George Orwell was a master of including real examples of historical propaganda to show how easily people can be manipulated. He used animals to symbolize how primitive most people’s thoughts processes are. Most of the examples of propaganda in Animal Farm were created to show how Stalin, a Russian leader in 1920’s, controlled large groups of people. Examples of propaganda such as, glittering generalities bandwagoning, and ethos, used by the animals in Animal Farm are still widely used today and can be found in health products, advertisements and political campaigns and debates. The three main types of propaganda are pathos, logos and ethos. Each of these forms affect a person in a different way, for example pathos occurs when information
Our propaganda poster displays laws or beliefs that occurred in the novel “Animal Farm” in our vision of how they would be portrayed. Both pathos and ethos rhetorical devices are used to inform, persuade, and convince the animals of the farm of what is considered right. The two types of propaganda used include name-calling and the application of fear. The poster includes three scenes or images depicted from the book; an animal hoof stepping on a human hand that held a whip, Napoleon, and one of the guard dogs killing a pig that is intended to be Snowball.
People believe that they make every decision themselves using their own thoughts and ideas, but this is not entirely true. Whether it is an ad on TV for a burger or a political speech talking about the future of the country, the goal of these is to persuade people one way or the other. They do this because humans are easily manipulated by ads, propaganda, and false facts. George Orwell’s Animal Farm is an allegory based on communist Soviet Union before and during Joseph Stalin’s time as leader. Orwell showed, using pigs and other animals, how easy it is to manipulate someone into believing something. The pigs manipulated the other animals on the farm by effectively using rhetoric like logos, ethos, and pathos in their speeches.
The book Animal Farm by George Orwell two main rhetoric devices are used. The pigs especially Squealer use ethos and pathos to manipulate the animals to doing what they want. The pigs also use their power to control everyone. These pigs are like the government. They abuse their power and control the people. In this book George Orwell is making a statement about how things were during the Russian war and how the citizens were treated.
Another aspect portrayed in Animal Farm is collectivization. Collectivization is the act of ruthlessly taking over private farms and combining them into state-owned enterprises in order to make production of agriculture more convenient (Cracking). Collectivization was a part of Joseph Stalin’s Five Year Plans which were imposed to help the economy. Peasant farmers would rebel against the government, which was trying to make them sacrifice their crops. These farmers would commonly burn their crops because they believed if they could not have it then no one could. The process of collectivization was extremely similar in Animal Farm; for example, Napoleon required the hens to surrender their eggs to him and the other pigs as the communist government

The saying "ignorance is bliss" is not always very accurate. The book Animal Farm by George Orwell is an allegory for a real historical event – the Russian Revolution. It demonstrates how people's ignorance can be the cause of their social and political oppression and how the knowledge of others' ignorance can lead to power, which ultimately corrupts those who possess it. These themes are portrayed through the characters and in real life.

The sub theme of power corrupting people is very eminent in animal farm. The leaders on the farm - the pigs, were the brains of the farm. The animals let the pigs lead the farm, thereby placing them into a position of power. This power corrupted them as they became more and more greedy and their ideology became more and more corrupted. Also, the pig’s transgressions of the rules of animalism worsen as they grow in power.
It was once when an animal was a slave and just an animal, but with a little bit of rebellion, things are turned upside down. Animal Farm shows an important point that it is easy to take advantage of those who are feeble, or less intelligent. Napoleon uses his power to keep the sheep working who follow along with the rest of the animals, and also exploits characters like Boxer who helps. In Animal Farm, George Orwell uses personification and detail to show a leader and followers viewpoints in an environment to prove how leaders and followers contributes to the loss of freedom and equality.
Humankind has always had a thirst for power; over its peers, environment and spiritual beliefs. To quench this thirst it has gone as far as genocide; but has often employed more subtle techniques, such as mind control. In today’s socio-economical and political worlds, mind control plays a key role in dictating tastes and lifestyles; as well as controlling political thoughts, views, and people’s understanding of the world. It is accomplished using various channels to condition people’s thinking. Publicity and advertisement campaigns saturate people with products, broadcasting over radio, and television which in itself is a prime example. Many religions employ mind control, conditioning their followers to obey without
George Orwell, in Animal Farm, addresses blind conformity and misuse of power. There are many comparisons between Animal Farm and Germany under Hitler’s tyranny concerning these two themes. Napoleon and Hitler both used propaganda to ensure there was blind conformity amongst the common people/animals and they both misused their power. The two themes of blind conformity and misuse of power are constantly repeated throughout the novel and will be studied throughout this essay.
Most of us communicate with others with words every day, using words as a tool to transfer messages.
