As we see in Macbeth, he hurt people so he can be king. Macbeth turned into a selfish lunatic from a loyal and honorable person. In the beginning of the play, Macbeth was a loyal and trustworthy guy, but he started becoming curious and later ambitious. He became curious when the Witches told him that he would be King and Macbeth asked, “Speak, if you can: what are you?” (I.iii.48). He was becoming ambitious after the Witches vanished and Macbeth yelled out to them saying, “Stay, you imperfect speakers, tell me more. By Sinel’s death I know I am thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The thane of Cawdor lives, A prosperous gentleman, and to be king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be Cawdor. Say from whence You owe this strange intelligence, or why Upon this blasted heath you stop our way With such prophetic greeting. Speak, I charge you.” (I.iii.71-79). In The Tragedy of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare the character Macbeth shows the effect of power. The desire for power and the struggle of keeping it consumes Macbeth, leading him to kill off anyone who threatens his reign and isolates him from people. It is in human nature that the more power one desires the more corrupt actions one must do to attain it. Macbeth is a proud and robust Scottish general who is looked up to by the community. He is the Thane of Glamis and later is named the Thane of Cawdor, which is what leads his greed and ambition rise up to affect his thoughts and personality. Macbeth wants nothing more than for the prophecies given to him by the witches to come true, but he does not have the drive to act upon his desires. It is only with the persuasion that he was able to perform upon what he wanted to do as was able to kill Duncan. This had however traumatized him in ways that could not be reversed.
Greed always has its negative consequences, and in Macbeth’s case, it took a drastic negative effect on him and his kingdom and it took a strong toll on him. This play is about a noble warrior and his downfall. After an encounter with some witches, he was informed about his future, causing something to snap in his soul. Now that we know of his future, he will do whatever it takes to accomplish his future even if it means crossing over to the dark side. For centuries, society has mistakenly classified ambition as a virtue. This may lead individual's to strive to gain power through violence. Similarly, in William Shakespeare's Macbeth, the increasing ambition of the protagonist drives him to achieve his goals, despite descending into narcissism. Granted that, Lady Macbeth convinced Macbeth into killing Duncan which lead him to his killing streak. At the beginning of the book, Macbeth was a fair and good man.
“Those who have true power share it, while those who hunger power abuse it. The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse.” MacBeth worked his way into the world of power with his faithful wife Lady MacBeth, by scheming up plans of pure destruction. In result he became a heartless and conniving person who took advantage of everyone for his own personal gain. Not caring who he hurt in the process, his goal was to be on top.
Throughout reading the play, Macbeth changes a lot from being a man of loyalty and honesty, to a man of whom is power hungry and greedy. This shows how the more power you receive the more power you want; which in many cases, such as this one leads to destruction. Many of the choices that Macbeth made were influenced by the power that he had, and this power began to take over him. This then lead to greed and destruction of not only others, but himself as well.
In this world, one of the strongest human drives seems to be the desire for power. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Thane Macbeth seeks to gain power over Scotland. Through Macbeth’s search for power, he must choose between what is morally right or his inner motives. Macbeth gains power over others through the murders of King Duncan, Banquo, and Macduff’s entire family along with his servants. After each murder, Macbeth becomes more confident in his search to gain power.
Macbeth’s tragic flaw is his ambition. Macbeth’s ambition spurs his rise to power when the witches tell him that he would become the king of Scotland. This prophecy leads Macbeth to kill King Duncan in order to become the king. The murder of King Duncan Textual evidence that supports this is “All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be King hereafter!” (Macbeth 1.3.49-50).
Ambitions can drive you crazy. Usually when ambitions get out of control they need limits. They can grow stronger. For example Macbeth shows ambition on which after a while grows drastically. In Tragedy of Macbeth, William Shakespeare expresses wrong doing, immoral behavior and ambition.

From the very beginning, the witches tells us that Macbeth is very critical to their evil scheme “There to meet with Macbeth”(1,1,5). It is from this instant that the witches make a everlasting connection between themselves and Macbeth “A drum, a drum, Macbeth doth come”(1,3,30). The witches are responsible for Macbeth’s downfall as they use equivocation to influence his fate, change his moral compass and to confuse him. These witches use outstanding equivocatory language when saying “All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee Thane Glamis! All Hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Cawdor! All Hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!”(1,3,50). When Macbeth gains his promotion, he starts to believe in the prophecies that the witches gave “The greatest is behind, thanks for your pains”(1,3,120). Macbeth was very addicted to the witches as they awaken in him as his ambition to be the king of Scotland. Macbeth cannot forgot the meeting that the three witches has with him “My thought, whose murder yet is but fantastical, Shakes so my single state of man that function is smothered in surmise, and nothing is but what is not”(1,3,145). Macbeth immediately believes whole heartily without any questions. Macbeth has become more paranoid due to his
