Support is something crucial for anyone to keep going but this is a key element that Esther was lacking in her life. She was surrounded by a society who wanted her to be something different and this applied to her mother also who encourages her to learn something practical like shorthand so she could have a stable job instead of encouraging her to follow her dreams of becoming a writer. Esther however refuses to lean shorthand and refuses to be submissive and simply follow as other say instead of writing her own thoughts. She has an image of what she doesn’t want but not what she wants in life. However as the novel continues this decision not to learn shorthand becomes yet another strike against her as a further failure and hence adds to her feelings of estrangement from the other women in society. Esther is not only different from people of her mother’s generation but is also different from women of her generation (Smith, 2010).

Esther’s madness is presented as a consequence of her rebellion against the archetypes of gender roles, which she is surrounded by in the novel. Chodorow argues that, in our subjective understanding of gender relations, individuals ‘create new meanings in terms of their own unique biographies.’ Chodorow’s argument is evident in how Esther understands gender relations through her experience with Buddy Willard. His mother believes that ‘what a man is is an arrow into the future and what a woman is is the place the arrow shoots off from’ (Plath, 67). In the juxtaposition of a place and an arrow, the woman is presented as a constant and a base which enables the man to progress. Esther’s awareness of this outlook and her rejection of it allows

Can an orphan become a queen? It sounds imaginable, however, this is the story of Queen Esther. God had a purpose and a plan for Esther. She was a humble woman that leads and assisted her people. Just like the steps from the book The Servant Leader, Esther’s life included five steps of a servant leader. She ran with great purpose, upended the pyramid, raised the bar, blazed the trail, and built on the strengths (Leah, 2010). She accepted and used her position for the good of her people. Queen Esther was a servant leader that selflessly placed the Jews before herself and even at the price of possibly losing her life. Moreover, she bloomed into an influential and authentic leader by placing the Jews above herself. The book of Esther is about Esther being a servant leader.

Even though all of this makes Esther look good in front of her family, friends, and others; she's miserable on the inside. She isn’t satisfied with what she does as a person. She feels as if no matter what she does or how she does it, the majority of people are grooming her to become a gentle housewife. Back home, Esther feels her worst fears coming true about herself. The rejection from the writing program kills her self-confidence and she's stuck at home with her mom for the rest of the summer. Esther's behavior grows weirder and unpredictable
There are some of the few things that gave madness to Esther. From the start of the book, Esther was already worried and obsessed about execution that is happening in New York, she even expressed that day as a bad day for her; and that she don’t think that she can enjoy the life she thinks she deserved. Also, there is a high expectation coming from her mother especially in pursuing a good path along the way. Other than high expectation from the mother, she also has high expectation from oneself which is also one of the reasons of having no ability to choose the right
The book of Esther tells the faithfulness of one woman and her uncle. It is only one of two books that contain the heroism and bravery of a woman heroine. The story of Esther accomplishes two profound things, the first: “To demonstrate God’s providential care of his people, even those outside the land of Israel, and 2) to commend the observance of the feast of Purim by relating how it originated” (Breneman 289).Unlike the rest of the Bible the story of Esther does not directly state or talk about God, but instead shows God’s plans for all of our lives and how in all frightening moments of life, He remains faithful to those who trust and have faith in Him. “In spite of the omission of any name for deity, there is no other book in all the
