The next website we decided to analysis for our ethos assignment is the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation website. The organization is basically about saving animals that are endangered species. They help save anything from rhinos to pangolins. Since we are against the hunting of animals, this foundation attracted our attention.
The website from the moment you open it does a great job of showing what the mission of the foundation is giving the reader a clear understanding. The way the use big white bold letters for their message and for the slideshow of different animals they protect, it indicates to the reader that what they are reading is important in a subconscious way. The way their slideshow shows images of the animals in a charming matter
I find logos from the text, it is in the beginning of the text. The author talks about how many books that her writes and it also has specific years and name on the text. In my opinion, the most obvious example of the ethos is the sentences that the author’s writing, because the author is the professional person in the writing area, so that I think she has the power to let reader believes what she said and what she think. There also have some instances to firm the main idea. In the third paragraph, the author uses the feeling of people to represent sometimes people wants to be the person like them, for example “people tend to look at …… they have to tell” some of people desire to be the writer because they think they can get lots of money.
The ASPCA is an amazing organization that has provided aid for thousands of animals. ASPCA stands for American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and it has groups all over the world working to better the lives of animals and protect them from abuse. My group’s presentation showed what the values of the ASPCA are and why people should donate to it. My groups presentation successfully presented the ASPCA is convincing way to get people to donate. We did this by showing authoritative figures that support the ASPCA and by showing the amount of animals that are hurt or killed each day as well as the amount of animals that are saved. We were also successful because we showed how the general public can help ASPCA foundation.
Joel Sartore, photographer, is the main focus in this article. Over the years Sartore has created a collection of photos that he has taken of different species of animals. These animal photos have created a movement that’s goal is to inspire people and get their attention in order to help protect the lives of animals, especially those that are threatened. This organization, Photoark, is pushing the photography of zoo animals in order to get public attention. Animal play a huge role in the balance of our planet. What Joel Sartore is trying to do is save our biodiversity by protecting animals in order to preserve the environment. Throughout the article the author explains the goals of Sartore and explains the Photoark project that is growing wildly to save animals. The awareness of these animals may just be the thing to save them and our planets
The appeal to logos, ethos, and pathos are used everyday in many instances. A commercial is just one instance, and Gatorade commercials use them very well. The specific Gatorade commercial I chose to use was the one where Kevin Durant has a nightmare about being blocked by Dwyane Wade that aired in 2013. Kevin Durant doesn’t want that dream to come true so he practices very hard all while using Gatorade products. Meanwhile Dwyane Wade has a nightmare that he gets dunked on by KD, so he decides to use Gatorade products while he practices. The commercial is essentially saying that if you use Gatorade products that you will achieve your goals easier, and be more like the great NBA players that use the products as well.
An ethics committee is a consultation group that assists in the resolution of conflict and answers in moral and ethical questions related to patients. Ethics committee's tenants are based upon the principals of beneficence, to do good, non-maleficence, to do no harm, respect for autonomy, fairness, truthfulness, and justice. Their main goals are to promote the rights of patients, share
In the movie Lean on Me, Joe Clark persuades the staff and students that hard work is necessary in order to be successful through the use of ethos, pathos, and logos.
Throughout my speech, I establish pathos throughout my speech. I begin by trying to convey humor. I relay a humorous moment between my mother and me. The line is also meant to highlight my relationship with my mother, which will persuade the audience to think about their relationships to maternal figures in their lives. Next, I appeal to American patriotism, when I state clearly, “I am an American.
The advertisement I am doing is for The Humane Society Of The United States. The Humane Society is encouraging people to support and fund their organization to protect abused animals. This organization is important because they help animals who are cruelly abused and neglected. I am writing about this because it is important to treat animals with love and kindness. It does not matter if they are on four legs and can not speak, they still deserve to be treated as if they were children.
Every webpage is informative, whether its statistics, their presence in the news, or the several ways on how you can be involved. But it does not really stand out or differ from other charitable organizations. The website also doesn’t provide statements from families whom they’ve helped. Donors want to see that they’ve made a difference in someone’s life. A “thank you” video clip or photo of an assisted family or school group would probably have satisfied this issue and made this organization more desirable to participate in. It provides enough evidence for credibility from their existence in the news and links to their financial statements. It seems like a legit charitable organization with a good purpose but they also provide similar ethos as displayed in other websites, which in effect doesn’t necessarily derive an appeal to join this particular organization.
In accounts of true crime seen today, rhetoric is often used to impact readers and how they receive the information presented in the article or given argument. The use of rhetorical devices such as ethos, pathos, and logos ensures that the information appeals to not only one area of communication, and effectively gets across to the intended audience.
Hunters, activist or conservationists have a common goal “ensure that endangered species are here for generations to come” . Some comments that conservation trough commerce is a worthy way to manage natural resources and create awareness of endangered species. Hunters are more likely to be interested in support charities in order to prevent endangered animals to become extinct.
Purpose Formula: To persuade my fellow classmates, who are consumers of animal based products and supporters of zoos and wildlife conservation efforts, that animals deserve the same rights as humans and should not be used for profit.
The organization has several core values including “respect, nourish and protect all living things; understanding will encourage us to take action; every individual has the ability to make a positive difference; open-mindedness are essential to a changing world and integrity and compassion.”
Normally an author uses pathos to gain sympathy from readers by using emotions. The first example of pathos is when she made the statement “ If you are black and male and you do not play sports — well, good luck gaining admission to schools like UNC (Jackson).” In my opinion, this is a strong statement that is hard to read and makes me feel discouraged. The reason she said this was to show her point that they are extremely picky about who plays on these high revenue teams. These schools are only looking for the students who will bring in money for the school and that is why the author is trying to show that they get treated with priority. Another example of pathos is when she said “ Unlike college athletes who bring in revenue, non-revenue
Introduction: I remembered how throughout my life I respected and admired people that tried to help animals in need. I remembered how I felt when I saw first-hand the result of abuse. I remembered how I wanted to help those poor animals that were being treated so cruelly. And for all that I remembered, I decided that the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) was the interest group I felt strongly for and chose to research.
