As a detail oriented person I always searched for the connection between being professional and being a human who cares about others and tries to decrease their suffering. This connection made me follow my desires and led me to apply for the DPT degree. Mixing the academic knowledge with practical experience and a high level of emotional intelligence will lead to the professionalism required to touch the lives of patients. Therefore, I decided to start my practical experience by using my prior knowledge towards earning my graduate degree. By working as a Technician in an outpatient physical therapy setting, I have found a plethora of opportunities to improve myself and to prove that I am able to work with patients and interact with them in a professional manner.

Currently I do not participate in any of the EMS Field. I work in mental health St. Helena Hospital, and we receive many patients from the emergency room, but are not directly in the EMS Field. Within the next few weeks I will become an official volunteer EMT at Angwin ambulance. I personally have always enjoyed helping others and that's what brought me into the healthcare field. I look forward to working as an EMT because that's more along the lines of what I want to do as a career, which is an emergency room nurse. I chose the EMS Field because not only do I love helping others but I enjoyed the challenges that EMTs face and the constantly changing environment. I enjoy being on the front lines of the action and getting to play an instrumental role in everything from holding a hand saving a life.

I lived in Turku, Finland for research through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program this past year. Immersed in the Finnish culture of bathing in the sauna, hiking in the forests, and commuting by bicycle, I easily embraced an environment that respected quietude. I found the Finnish quietness offered the chance to listen, to each other and to our own selves. With words substituted by moments of silence, this gave me the space and time to “olla omissa oloissaan”, to hear myself think: What do I want from life? I love biology and enjoy research but I miss being an EMT. What will be my contribution? Reflecting on my past, present, and future, I realized I want to pursue a career in medicine.

Education. It is a vital source needed in order to succeed. Though many schools offer a basic education, there are not many that offer the advanced level of learning that ASMSA provides. While attending ASMSA, I hope to be taught at a higher level that better suits my standards. ASMSA will give me the prospect to learn at a level that I can use to challenge myself to better my future.

Care Ambulance is located in orange California, care provides 911 services and interfaculty transport in both Los Angeles county and orange county. I am stationed in east los angles California, a care substation. Working with the Los Angeles county fire department, providing advanced life support and basic life support transportation. Also, assisting with 911 services such as patient treatment and patient assessment. I began my employment with care ambulance on November 2014 and I am still currently employed. While working for care ambulance, I obtained a position with Monrovia fire and rescue as a volunteer cadet. I am a non- sworn member of the department. I am assigned to an apparatus, appointed by a captain. Became the 4th man on apparatus.

There are a limited number of specialties other than EM where the provider serves the undeniable role of determining whether the patient would benefit from hospital admission versus discharge home. I have chosen to study Radiography as I am very passionate about Science. Although this was never my strongest subject I always enjoyed studying the 3 science subjects and I soon developed an interest in radiography. I always worked hard to understand the fundamentals of science. I have developed an interest as I have seen people with many illnesses which had led me to want to pursue a career in radiography. My passion for patient care has strongly come from seeing people suffering from different health problems. Although it is a challenging profession I am willing to put in 100% to ensure I succeed in gaining a career. On a cold December night in a little red brick house sat a ten year old girl named Robin who was there visiting her Great Grandmother Esther. Robin loved visiting her grandmother, because being at her house was like stepping into a time capsule. The walls were filled with old black and white pictures everywhere you looked and the heavenly aroma of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies filled the air. On this particular night grandma Esther opened up about her nursing days and shared many heartfelt stories with Robin. Her stories were filled with such emotion and passion they left a Robin thinking her grandma was a superhero.

I've very adaptive to new technology such as programs used for online documentation and electronic MARS. Other registered staff in my unit often comes to me for problem solving and troubleshooting with our online documentation program. In my case, as an Advanced EMT, I and other EMS personnel in the field, are the assets most in need of protection. In fact, protocol dictates that I and my fellow EMTs and paramedics maintain personal safety above all else, including the provision of patient care.

As my career advances I want to use my Master’s degree to help me propel myself above other. Furthermore, I am looking for the next step to improve my resume when promotions come around for the Dearborn Heights Fire Department. I believe this degree will help me stand out when I interview and show the necessary skills of motivation, desire, leadership and loyalty when entering a leadership role within the department. Secondly, we are looking to pilot a community paramedic program which I am very interested in leading and helping organize within our community. High school was over, a college in Lubbock, Texas was chosen, and this young adult was going to attend paramedic school. At the end of the first semester, personal and family issues surfaced, and it was back to the little small town of Willis. Still wanting to pursue the paramedic field, Reed realized that this wasn’t the right time to do so, and began seeking employment to help with family needs. This hardworking driven individual worked two to three jobs at a time over the next nine years to help support family. In all this time, the dream of becoming a paramedic was never lost. It wasn’t until June 2011 that the door to pursue this field was reopened.
