- Class president In 9th and 10th grade, I was chosen as a class president. I used to take account of students’ attendance, as well as their participation in activities. - Science club Our science club mainly focuses on Olympiads and I have been a member since 7th grade. I usually spend 7 hours per week, but when Olympiads come near, this number can go up to 16 hours. Most students aren’t interested in our club because to most people when they hear Hobby school, the first thing that comes into their mind is Debate Club, but I still am trying my best to appeal to other students and give them hope. Preparing for Olympiad is really tough and takes a long time. For example, I start my preparation for the national Olympiad from winter,
As a Vice President in this club I felt strongly about including opinions from various different types of students. I believe that a full representation of the student body includes not just one perspective, but various. Also, I was very active in getting the resources for my class, so we had the funds to complete activities that were very important to us. I did so by organizing many fundraisers throughout the year. One in particular was Chipotle Night. Which is in collaboration with the restaurant chain. A night is promoted where students go purchase food there and a percentage of the sales comes back to the fundraiser.
As Senior Class Vice President, I serve the senior class by planning homecoming activities and using social media to keep our class
With the assistance of several of the eight students in the class, who range in age from 17-22, the Holmes County commissioners were introduced to the class and the role its students play in the school and community.
Educational programming includes activities ranging from Mad Science presentations, karaoke, opportunities for private academic tutoring, and more. Further augmenting the educational experience provided at The Heritage Learning Center, students will create art, do science experiments, and create their own snacks to eat. Truly, The Heritage Learning Center understands that education does not stop during summer recess, that learning and engaging with the world is always occurring, and the summer is a fantastic opportunity to get children excited about learning, academics, and their
Each club has exposed me to issues involving my own community such as recycling, diabetes, childhood cancer and more. They led me to become more engaged in trying to fix the problems affecting my community and school’s student body while remaining sensitive to the individuals that it would affect. By teaching me sensitivity towards these issues and becoming more involved, these clubs help prepare me for work in an industry such as computer science, that has far reaching effects which require consideration before any decisions can
Junior Class President Kathryn Ramjattan says that officers spend a lot of time planning after school and doing many other things, although conversely, it does not get too hectic until the major events come up. She loves working with her officers, leading and organizing events, and hanging out with the Junior Class Advisor, Mr. Carpio. This is her first year as president, but not her first year as an officer. Last year, Ramjattan was the vice president of the sophomore class. Ramjattan has learned that it is important to listen to what everyone has to say,and getting students involved is no simple task. Notable obstacles include disagreements in the student government and getting student participation.
classes, such as AP Physics 1 and 2, AP Calculus, BC and AP Statistics. It just seemed to feel right. My confidence grew as I began helping other students with their similar classes, and being mentioned as the one to whom they could seek for help. Being well rounded is very important to me, so I’ve continued with piano, percussion lessons, and drumline. My elementary teacher, of whom I’ve mentioned as a critic, was inspired at the level of discipline and leadership I had developed. I’m involved in a pretty cool percussion ensemble and teach lessons as well as lead a small ensemble from that group. At the risk of seeming boastful, I carefully add that I was invited to join the student council from the teacher/advisor.. Believe me, this would never have been imagined if you knew Mitch DeJong as a second grader, or even as a middle school student The outside activities I have maintained alongside my academic ones provide additional opportunities for personal development and growth. I am a dedicated and hard-working member of the soccer and track team. Hard work is just what it takes to keep up with the school, and extra -curricular schedules. It is well said that success is mostly hard work
In class I contributed in many different ways. I been RSVP, dance, and publicity so far. In RSVP I was the co chair who is the the person in charge of the whole committee, that writes weakly plans and grades committee
But after I realized how involved we got to be in all of our school’s major decisions, I was hooked. I was overjoyed when I was presented with this amazing opportunity to not only better my campus for me, but for all of my peers. I believe this relates to the person I am because I love being able to solve complex social problems not only to satisfy my needs and wants, but others as well. Which is exactly what ASB is about. It’s not only something that is useful to me, but I love doing it. I love interacting with other people and helping them out. For example, last year I was elected Senior Class President. In the past, the seniors have usually waited until senior year actually starts in order to start organizing events. This year, directly after I was elected, I created and ordered all of our senior shirts with my fellow officers to have for the last day of school. And over the summer I made sure that our senior class was going to be able to have a perfect senior sunrise the first day of school complete with music and the ever popular Teddy’s Donuts. By going to class everyday, I get to help my peers everyday. ASB has been an important experience for me, because I’ve been able to grow as a person, and learn new leadership skills.
In 9th grade, I began tutoring every Tuesday after school and this continued through 10th grade. During that time, I discovered that my students had a negative disposition towards science. Many saw science as "boring." I wanted to change that idea, to help them realize the wonders of science, to prove that science is fascinating and entertaining. The following summer, I prepared my proposal and pitched my ideas to Mr. Terrence Davis, Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville.
I am my current student body and class vice president. I take on roles and finish tasks willingly. I have led the class of 2018 as their class president my sophomore and junior years. This task has not always been easy, but I have managed with the help of others. Now being the vice president, I am responsible for assisting the president, while taking charge of my student council. This club has taught me promptness, diligence and cooperation.
Holding position in our class government every year has always been a highlight of my high school career. As a senior now I am Class President, the National Honors Society President, the Future Christian Athletes Faith Leader, and the Science Club Vice President. I’m also the National Honors Society community service group leader, and with that position I’ve been able to really connect with my community through the community outreach programs I’ve luckily been able to be apart of.
Going into my final year of high school, I had been elected as the Vice President of the National Honour Society for Murphy High School’s charter. With this new position, I had to contribute ideas on how to raise money for our club and school, how to improve the students involved, and how the club could better the school. The election was based on nominations and popular vote. I was elected because I was outspoken and provided ideas as much as I could in meetings. This allowed for my fellow peers to understand that I cared for the honor society and wanted to better the program.
However, during my first two years in high school, I realized that there was an aspect of my academic experience that needed attention. As a member of Class Council, I was disappointed by the lack of diversity in the attendance of the meetings. Each week, a dozen or so of the same students arrived and made decisions that affected the entire student body. If there was one thing I learned during my high school career, it was that diversity is necessary for success. Eager to implement change, I decided that the spring election at the end of my sophomore year was a great
Being president of the Sophomore Class would be a wonderful opportunity to exercise my strengths and abilities. I think, with my strengths, I would be a great candidate for Class President. I am very interactive and open to new ideas of my classmates, especially when it can better our grade and our future as students. I show outstanding leadership that encourages others to further engage in their positions and responsibilities. To me, I think that it’s important to function as a unit rather than having unbalanced strengths. I would encourage others to be their own leader and make sure they fully indulge in their positions. I accept all responsibilities that come with the position including attendance to the meetings and to school, having good
