Some believe that electronic voting machines or EVMs are helpful in the use of alderly or people with physical disabilty. While some believe it is to great of risk that it could be hacked. I believe we should have EVMs. My great grandmother is 95 years old and she says that she remembers the EVMs in 2002, she also said that it was very useful. In which in article 2 it clearly states that " EVMs are even easy for voters with disabilies to use." Futher more there has been a study that has proven that there is 33.7 million people with disabilies in the United States Of America in which 20% of the 33.7 million are less likely to vote because of a farm of disability. We need EVMs not only for the disability but also for us as a whole. it
In the Unite States of America i belive that it would not be asmart idea to use electronic voting machines beacause it would be unfair they would not be counting all the votes correctly. Also they can rig the election like the problems they had in ohio as they wasted that amout of money. It would not be a good idea to use electronic voting machines because the machines may also not count the votes correctly or place the vote uner another canidate. Also there has been alot of errors with the electronic voting machines, like they've also been hacked plenty of times witch causes the election to get ruined. There is also two sides to everything like the electonic voting machines also did alot of good work and made it easier to vote for the people
Although EVMs (electronic voting machines)provide qualties of convience, security, modern technology, and etc., it will not make citiznes vote. "They help more people vote more easily." (Line 1) This satement is not only inaccurate, but an excuse made for people who do not realize the power and priveldge it is to be able to vote.
Nearly 16% of the United States’ population is disabled according to recent censuses, half of which are legally eligible to vote in local, state, and national elections, but despite the sway these politically determined individuals have, the accessibility to extend their voices in the process of making policies is almost nonexistent. Polling booths may be located in obscure locations that do not fully comply with state and federal laws regarding their accessibility. Or a blind voter may not always have the opportunity to take advantage of a Braille ballot, and may also face complications with assuring an accurate measurement of their decisions when being assisted by another person. Throughout the history of America’s
One of my successful experiences during my previous years in school was when I had “A” as a final grade in ENG 101.
I say that because like in the first article, "it's easy for voters with disabilities." Coming from a family of folks with all kinds of disabilities, with one of my uncle's being unable to walk or stand up, these devices would be a phenomenal addition to our lives to make voting a whole lot easier on our part. Privacy was always a must for me, so EVM's would personally be a big help in terms of voting easily so you can get done faster, seeing as they "aren't connected to the internet" and "EVM's record every action so they can't be tampered with". Not only that, but I also come from a wide variety of family members from all over the place, so the language
Many citizens believe that voters should stick to the orthodox method of casting paper ballots and not implement these new EVMs. Their primary reasoning behind this thinking is the fear of having an EVM hacked and their votes tampered with. With any electronic machine it is a valid arguement to be afraid of recording private information on it due to the ever-present threat of hacking. However, according to the passage, EVMs are not connected to the internet nor are they easily tampered with due to the recording of every action during the voting process. In the opposing passage it states that a magazine published an article in which the writer explaines how he was able to tamper with votes on EVMs. I believe this to be a unreliable source of information because tampering with votes is a very severe federal crime that I doubt anyone would publically admit to commiting. So while I can understand where the fear of EMVs is coming from, I seriously doubt that the confidentiality of ballots is at risk with these
Many jobs require people to travel thus disqualifying them from voting where they are registered. People with disabilities have a hard time getting to the polls and are not always given special accommodation from the government in order to ensure they are able to vote. It is also inconvenient for elderly people to get the polls in order to vote for things that directly affect them. Because of this, issues regarding raising minimum wage for the working class, rights for people with disabilities, and Social Security are not reflected in the polls. In a democratic society, it is important to have representation of all citizens. Unfortunately, the current voting system is a way to subconsciously disenfranchise certain
First of all, a pro to EVMs is that they are disability accessable. They hold a special audio and voice system for the blind and even a more hands-on approach for people who have trouble standing. Therefore, because of accessibility issues 33.7 million disabled citizens are 20% less likely to vote because they do not have access to the proper tools. It would be a great step up in technology for the disabled. Everybody should be able to vote if they wish too.
My position is favoring the story that explains why EVM's are bad to use; even though the first story has a good point on as to why EVM's are good to use the second story seems more realistic. In the first story it states how not everyone finds it easy to operate the machines(paragraph 4). I find this more believable because not everyone is good with today's techonology plus not everyone likes the newer technology as well. This alone will show the reason on why using EVM's are a bad idea. In paragraph two it states how EVM's are expensive; America is already in debt as it is I personally think it isn't wise to keep adding onto that. The first story states that the machines cannot be hacked into due to lack of internet(paragraph four). This
EMVs are new technology and I belive that they are just evolving. Technology has evolved to the point where everything is electronic now. Emvs are easy to use in 2003 97% of a diverse group of people say that they had no trouble using the machine. Technology can intimidate people especailly for people who havent had it easy, like people with disablities. However, they have made accomadations for people with disabilities. From Everyone Should Be Able to Vote, they state the machines have audio and voice systems that accomadate people with disablities. also america has a lot of people who speak different langueages but they have people at the polls who can help them. Some people do not like people knowing who they vote for, but this is not
Studies show,in 2003 voters used the EVMs to vote. 97% of voters had no problem using this new method of voting, three years later, Utah used the machines and almost had the same results. The EVMs are easier for people with specific disabilities, the machines have audio and voice systems just incase someone
People have greatly changed their lifestyles. Most people are taking processed foods instead of natural foods. You will realize that most teens like taking junk foods instead of cooking natural foods like vegetables. Most people rarely take foods such as yams and cassava. They prefer raking fast foods in a bid to save time and so on. However, these foods can be detrimental to your body. They can make you gain a lot of weight within a short period. This is the reason why most people are struggling when it comes to losing their extra weight.
Numerous voters who are for the use of EVMs will say that the use of these machines is more secure and private. On the other hand, I prefer to recognize the history of the many instances that have been filed over the years since EVMs were first used in polls, reports have showed incidents of th machines being "tapped". This means that on of the voters placed a hacked chip into one or more of the used memory polls, or one of the chips might have became faulty and was not replaced. When votes are being changed without the voters knowledge, I would say that EVMs
In this passage I will discuss my point of view about EVMs. I feel EVMs are very helpful in many ways, they help's a lot of different language speaking people, because paper ballots offer a small number of languages due to high printing costs. However, EVMs can garble information eventhough it's not hook up to the internet rather then paper ballots that's on paper.
Electronics always fail, no matter what, I think that the Untited States should stop using electronic voting because its not really fair and in some ways you get cheated out. In 2013, a national magazine ran an articile about a man who explained how, with basic computer knowledge and tools, was able to tamper with votes on EVMs. Life is about being fair and I think everyone should be treated equal, the time tested method of paper ballots does just that and is the best way to go in my opinion becuase it works accurately and cannot be tampered with in any way. While electronic voting is often a more simple proccess and has made voting a lot easier for voters with age or disabilty and 97% of people with different age, races, and physical ability,
