“And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy the earth. Make yourself an ark…” (Genesis 6:13-14, English Standard Version) “For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die.” (Genesis 6:17, ESV) “And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female.” (Genesis 6:19, ESV) “Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.” (Genesis 6:22, ESV) “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of …show more content…
(1995-2013) Finally, many evolutionists use the Grand Canyon as proof for millions of years, but evidence shows it actually formed from the overspill from two post-Flood lakes. (Creation Today, n.d.) Obviously, all of this evidence creates major problems for evolution, but is fully explained by Noah’s Flood. One of the biggest pieces of evidence for the Flood is the Cambrian explosion. The Cambrian explosion is taught by evolutionist to be a sudden burst of evolution caused by an increase in favorable environments. An evolutionist article states, “Fossils provide solid evidence that organisms from the past are not the same as those found today; they show a progression of evolution… The resulting fossil record tells the story of the past and shows the evolution of form over millions of years. For example, scientists have recovered highly-detailed records showing the evolution of humans and horses.” (Evidence of Evolution, n.d.) In reality the fossil record shows that there was a sudden and nearly simultaneous appearance of all known phyla as well as species from the most distant parts of the family tree during the Cambrian period, instead of a gradual evolution. (Wieland, n.d.) (Wise, 2009) Fossils have been found worldwide in Precambrian rocks, but they were too bizarre and different
According to science, water run-off from the earth (receding water) into the ocean and seas is warmer than the water which falls in the form of rain. What about Noah and the Flood in Genesis? I learned from years of Sunday school class and Bible study it rained for 40 days and nights, but the flood was not over after 40 days; it took over a year for the ark doors to be opened, why? God had Noah to wait until the flood waters receded and the land was ready to support life. Where did the flood waters recede to? Science tells us into the oceans and seas. There was a lot of water to recede from the earth’s surface after the flood and science tells us it would be warmer. When Noah, his family, and the animals exited the ark there was new food “plant growth” to support their life. How would this happen if there were not an atmosphere already established?
Comparatively, Chapter 2 Written in the Rocks, Jerry Coyne explains fossils and the methods used by scientist to verify evolution. Indeed, fossils and the fossil records help evolution and the theory with physical evidence about our creation, yet, fossils are a separate branch of the evolution theory. Fossils tell us about the history of earth and all the life species that have lived before. Likewise, scientist estimate that all the fossils ever discovered, only amounts to 1 percent of all species that ever lived. Fossils unfold many previously unanswered questions about our history.
Everything on earth will perish. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.” 22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.” This was God’s command to Noah, unlike Utnapishtim who was told the secret of the flood by one of the gods.
At the time of this story God saw how the thoughts of mankind were evil and he decided to destroy what he had created with a great flood intending to drown the earth. He chose Noah and his family to build an ark big enough to contain two of every animal to repopulate the earth. The world was flooded for a hundred and fifty days until the water subsided back into land.
The author and his colleagues chose to focus on 375 million year old rocks in their search for fossils because amphibians that look dissimilar to fish were discovered in 365 million year old rocks, while fish without amphibian characteristics were discovered in 385 million year old rocks. Thus, it is possible that the evolutionary intermediary, or the “missing link” between fish and amphibians, would be discovered in 375 million year old rocks, between the two time periods. The rocks examined were sedimentary in composition, as the gradual and relatively gentle formation of sedimentary rock under conditions of mild pressure and low heat are conducive to the fossilization of animal remains. Sedimentary rock is also often formed in rivers and seas, where animals are likely to live. This site provides a resource that describes means by which fossils are formed and how the fossil record may be interpreted, and shows some examples of fossils demonstrating evolution through geological periods: http://www.fossilmuseum.net/fossilrecord.htm. In 2004, Shubin and his colleagues were looking for fossils on Ellesmere Island, in northern Canada. This location was chosen because of its lack of human development, as well as of obstructing natural formations and life forms such as trees, which
In the Bible, God speaks to Noah, saying many times over that the world that he created has become
The final piece of evidence for a worldwide flood is the Grand Canyon. An article describing the Grand Canyon states, “The general scientific consensus, updated at a 2010 conference, holds that the Colorado River carved the Grand Canyon beginning 5 million to 6 million years ago.” (Zimmermann, 2013) However, it is obvious that the Colorado river could not have carved the Grand Canyon. It is much too small to carve such an enormous monument, and it shows a surprising lack of erosion for being millions of years old. (The Grand Canyon, n.d.) One problem with evolutionists’ theory is the numerous side canyons formed just as deep with no visible water source. (Brown, 1995-2013) Also, why are there no other Grand Canyons around the world that were created with larger and more powerful rivers? (Brown, 1995-2013) A massive amount of around eight hundred cubic miles of sediments were excavated from the Grand Canyon, yet the Colorado River’s delta, the section at the mouth of the river where sediments eroded by the river are deposited, contains less than one percent of this material. (Brown, 1995-2013) So where did it all go? A worldwide flood is the most plausible explanation. As the crust buckled and shifted, the water from the flood drained off of high levels into the ocean basins and any low places. (Brown, 1995-2013) The Colorado Plateau was lifted around six thousand two hundred feet, carrying two large post-Flood lakes with it, the Grand Lake and Hopi Lake. (Brown,
The theory that I’m going to defend in this paper is Young Earth Creationism. Young Earth Creationism or YEC is the religious belief that the universe, Earth and all life were all created by direct acts of God less than 10000 years ago. Young-earth creationist believe that the creation days were six 24 hours days. “They believe that about 2,300–3,300 years before Christ, the surface of the earth was rearranged by Noah’s Flood. All land animals and birds not in Noah’s Ark perished, many of which were subsequently buried in the Flood sediments. Therefore, creationists believe that the global, catastrophic Flood was responsible for most of the rock layers and fossils.” (Anwseringenesis.org) Young Earth Creationist believe in Microevolution and
Old-earth creationists believe that not only was it the flood, but also slower processes like plate tectonics and mountain building. Old-earth creationists do believe in “The Flood” and the reasons why God chose to bring it upon the earth, but reject the young-earth creationist’s “flood theology” that was mentioned in the historical background section of this paper. Ronald L. Numbers, The Creationists: The Evolution of Scientific Creationism (Knopf, 1992),
The most important evidence of evolution is found beneath our feet. In chapter two Coyne opens up with a quote form Charles Darwin: “The Crust of the earth is vast museum; but the natural collection have been made only at intervals of time immensely remote.” The fossil record provides some of the best evolutionary evidence. Utilizing fossils has been around for hundreds of years. All fossils are formed the same way, needing a specific group of circumstances to occur.
Growing up the story of Noah and the ark was one of my favorites; Quite simply because of the drawings depicting the story. They appeared so beautiful, when after many years I'm realizing the whole of the story. The story of the destruction of mankind, and the story of regrowth. I chose this topic because I realized how little I really do know about Noah and the ark. I will relay the story of Noah and the
In “Genesis”, God has a fatherly relationship with the humans and as a result he chooses to bring a flood to destroy all of mankind for a specific reason. God chooses to kill all of humankind because they are noxious beings and need to be destroyed to rid the world of poisonous beings. “When the Lord saw that man had done much evil and that his thoughts and inclinations were always evil, he was sorry that he had made man on earth,”(6:5-7). God created humankind and because of the way their perilous acts he decided to destroy his
For centuries creation theorists have given emphasis to Noah’s flood as enough evidence to a universal deluge. Nevertheless, it is understood the ark presented in the Bible had a higher credibility to a local flood. According
Another problem comes up when you talk about fossils. If the world is millions and billions of years old, there would be fossils at lots of different archeological levels. Archeologists have found that most fossils are found at the same level, which would mean that some huge natural disaster happened and killed millions of animals at one time. The Bible mentions of a great flood that wiped out millions of animals and humans. This again proves evolution wrong.
Rather than assuming that physical laws always operated as they currently do, some people think that the earth operated differently in the past. More specifically, they think that there were frequent major catastrophes, and that those instances are what caused fossils and rocks to form in the way they did (McClure, 2009, p. 191). Since such catastrophes happened relatively fast, it has led some people to conclude that the earth is not as old as scientists think it is (McClure, 2009). Catastrophism also offers an explanation for fossil records. Different species may be in different geological strata as a result of major floods (McClure, 2009). Rather than being in a specific layer of rock as a result of living during a time period, some people think that fossils are in certain layers of rock as a result of major floods. Water levels rise and fall during floods, which is what some people have offered as an explanation for why there are different layers of rock and different fossils that correspond to
