Evidence based Practice allows for there to be a relationship between the care of patients and the best practices available. In order to achieve this relationship EBP combines a few key components in the clinical setting to enhance decision making to provide the best care possible. These key components are:

Scientific research enables an approach, to evolving knowledge and practice, and in this way, one can test out their beliefs to either prove or, alternatively, to attempt to disprove them. (2005) argues that all practitioners’ actions and their final decision on medication and/or treatment should come from research and proven theory. Great post Danielle, Evidence based medicine provides the best patient outcome, and It is a guide that prevents providers from ordering unnecessary treatments. Due to the frequent changes in healthcare, providers needs to stay current, and the best way to do that is to adopt the evidence-based practice. Clinicians can be misled into bad practice; when they adopt medical practices that are based on expert opinion (Mayer, 2006). Evidence-based practice will prevent them from such practices; they will assess the evidence and decide whether it would benefit the patient or not. Also, the patient can participate in the decision-making process.

The hierarchy of evidence is a core principal of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) and attempts to address the question of what is the best available evidence to answer a question.
