I am the same way of about thinking if I could only win the lottery all the things I would be able to do. Paying off student loans to start with ha-ha, along with other bills I have accumulated. Then I have seen interviews with people who have won the lottery and some of them say it had ruined their lives. Although I still buy lottery tickets figuring I will take my chances, when in reality the chances of me ever winning are slim to none. Over my lifetime I have known a couple people that acquired good sums of money, and I guess it has its benefits and downfalls. One of these people is a relative and sure they travel and are able to buy whatever they want. But when it comes to occasions when there are family comes together they never participate
The lottery preys on the people it is supposed to be helping. It is funded through lottery players, which are usually low income minorities. One example that proves this is when Duke university economist Charles Clofelter and Phillip cook found that “ blacks, high school dropouts and people in the low income category” ( source D), are the heaviest
The repercussions of attaining or lacking money changes based on the situation of the person possessing it . One could use money as an instrument to create happiness in spite of its vile nature. On the other hand one could be corrupted by it based on what it 's used for or the impact it has on that person 's character. Based on my personal experiences money has always been the one factor that restrains my family from experiencing constant happiness. But that 's not necessarily the same situation for every family. In “The Glass Castle” the Walls family drifted further apart in result of coming across money. The glass castle was an exciting book with a very unique and adventure seeking family. Rex Walls sand Rose Mary Walls were the parents of Jeanette, Lori, and Brian Walls. Initially the family was poor but over time their wealth would increase and decrease creating a series of complications that the family had to face. While encountering wealth, due to the passing away of Rose Mary’s mother who left her a large house in Phoenix and some money, the family felt out of place because they 've become so accustomed to their lifestyle of struggling. “City life was getting to dad. “I’m starting to feel like a rat in a maze,” he told me. He hated the way everything in Phoenix was so organized, with time cards, bank accounts, telephone bills, parking meters, tax forms, alarm clocks, PTA meetings, and pollsters knocking on the door and prying into your affairs.” (106) Their father

The defeat of Initiative 42, Mississippi’s best hope for adequately funding K-12 public school education, was devastating to Mississippi public school educators and their many supporters. Since the defeat, the question has been, “What do we do next?” Like so many others, I questioned if there was any need to even try to fight the system any longer. However, after a lot of thought and soul searching, I am resolved that it is more important than ever before to continue the fight. In fact, I have a plan of action that may sound farfetched on the surface, but it just might work. The plan is at least a step to rekindle the flame that educators and parents must keep burning on this issue.
The lottery is something you should be thrilled about. In this day and age winning the lottery can revitalize your life. Today, if I won the lottery I could rethink my future and it would be a great outcome. Growing up I saw my family spend their last bottom dollar to get tickets for the lottery in hope they can be winners. Even while playing you end up losing in the long run. My mother told me the chances of winning the lottery are 1 in 14 million. I would think to myself, why play a game you can never win. I would get the response “It’s always fun to play and it’s tradition.” In the “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson, I understand the cause and disagree with the policy on why being stoned to death is worth a tradition to celebrate.
In life, people have a tendency to ruin a good thing while it’s going. People become overwhelmed with the joy and fulfillment and begin to react irresponsible. For instance, a great thing such as winning can result into something horrible. Winning the lottery not only can bring happiness into someone’s life, but as well cause their life to be a complete nightmare. When a person goes from being considerably poor to having millions of dollars, it impacts their lives to a great extent by causing them to become unreasonable with their winnings, quit their jobs, or just lose touch with reality. Truth is winning unthinkable amounts of money causes unimaginable stress on lives of people not accustomed to it resulting in a positive event turning
Over time in “The Lottery”, the true meaning behind the lottery was lost in time. When something means a lot to your family and you continue to do it every year or every day we should know why we are doing it. “It’s not the way it used to be, “Old Man Warner said clearly. “People ain’t the way they used to be. (873)” This quote sums it all
The lottery offers a wonderful opportunity to possibly win millions of dollars. While this might seems amazing, it might not be as wonderful as imagined. In fact, maybe even the opposite might true as stated by numerous studies and research done since the 1970s.

The lottery has come a long way since it’s early times back in the stone age, but with all these modern day changes in American society the lottery has changed with it and so has beliefs of it. Many would suggest that the lottery is a scam or rigged even though the lottery claims everyone who plays has an equal chance of winning. Recently state lotteries have been advertising more about their contributions to education to get across their positives in society. With the endless demand in lottery nowadays anyway the lottery isn’t going anywhere whether people think it makes bad habits or not. With the last 10 years in mind, lottery sales can speak for themselves how much they’ve been in demand. Plus the upside to the lottery business is that
The lottery creates immense happiness for the winners, generating huge amounts of revenue for the few lucky winners, at the expense of every other person that did not win. This goes against the general utilitarian way of thinking, the good of the many out weighs the good of the few (2012 books, n.d.). What makes the lottery so bad is how much wealth it bestows upon so few people, and how many people play thinking they might win, but inevitably lose. This widespread suffering by the many so the few can enjoy more wealth than they can imagine is why the lottery is a utilitarian monster.
Winning the lottery could change my life for the better because it would give me financial independence. I would not longer have to rely on my parents for money. Instead, I can help them out for a change. It would also alleviate any debt I have, from school loans to credit card bills. Having the funds from the lottery will give me a fresh financial beginning. In addition, it will give me spending money for things I never dreamed
“The Lottery” is a short story written by Shirley Jackson and published in 1948. The title of the story initially leads readers to believe the story is going to be about someone winning some kind of prize. Even the opening of the story seems to protest any foul play or cruel behavior. What the reader is introduced to is a seemingly friendly gathering of a small village community, members all gathered around anxiously awaiting their drawing for the lottery. The village members all chatter amongst one another in a tone that kind neighbors would take with one another. To the surprise of the reader, the story provides a shocking twist. The story is not about someone winning a prize. Instead the story reveals

Lottery is one of the best things that has ever happened to human kind especially those that dream high and but their dreams don’t come to life because they don’t have what it takes to make it happen. Lotteries are in various categories such as sweep stakes, scratch off, the Jackpot and even the green card lottery. The lottery that is being focused in this argument is the jackpot one.
