My evaluation of my progress so far is that I am falling behind on keeping up with the readings and understanding the new concepts that we are learning. Due to not understanding the readings, my homework assignments’ grade is decreasing and affecting my overall grade. On the other hand, I am doing all the assignments on time. In addition, I am going to all the lectures and paying attention, while taking notes. I have also been noticing that doing class assignments is helping me understand the concepts better, since I am a hands-on learner. By evaluating my progress, I am aware of what to focus on to improve my grade for the second half of the semester. My plan for the second half of the semester to improve my grade is to apply more emphasis
Education is a long-term investment. We, as students, work hard to acquire knowledge and to hone our skills so that we may use them one day. The effort we put into a single assignment should be considered as both for that specific assignment and for our rounding as complete, educated individuals. And with this mindset, students should be motivated even more to put more effort and hard work into academics, with the goal of bettering themselves for the future and advancing their prospects as individuals. And with this hard work and effort will come progress, and this progress should be reflected in the grading—not necessarily on individual assignments, but on the student’s education as a
Alfie Kohn discussed multiple fabulous points in his article, “Degrading to De-Grading”. The author suggests more effective ways to assess students’ progress other than numerical or letter grades. Kohn goes into detail about why our current grading system is flawed. Grades can cause students to lose interest in learning which causes them to stop taking challenges. If students are not engaged and interested than they are not retaining the information they are being taught. The grading system can also cause students to develop unhealthy competition with one another for instance, “I got a better grade than you!”. Indeed, grades are a wonderful concept, but they tend to be more hurtful than helpful. In some cases, grades can have positive effects on students. For example, setting goals for various assignments, or receiving help where they are struggling. Though, there are alternatives that could make positive changes in the system.
The Jeffersonian Democracy, name after Thomas Jefferson, favored a small, limited federal government that did not interfere with the individual state rulings. Thomas Jefferson also opposed the idea of a national bank. He preferred to limit the control of government as much as possible. This group is also known as the Democratic-Republican party. Jefferson did not like to idea of an industrialized economic plan. He strongly believed in the expansion of agriculture. Therefore, he was not against slavery. The majority of Jefferson's supporters were land owners and farmers because they approved of his idea to expand agriculture. Due to the fact the Federalist were not on common ground, the election of Thomas Jefferson by the Democratic-Republic
That according to the study, males have earlier, more frequent intercourse both before and after marriage, emphasize sexual pleasure as a motive for intercourse, and have more non-marital and extramarital relationships than females. I feel that this is mostly true among me and my other groups of friends who are male.
I tried to other outcomes to what I have mastered or at least made a small advancement towards in this class besides my vocabulary choices and a better sense of illustration. Maybe a better sense of organization and writing integrity could be added to better research methods. I would love to say there is more to my outcomes of this class but for me, these improvements are a really good step to a better writing
My experience that I have learn so far from week four to week six is that catching up with assignments and exams can be a handful if you don’t do it along with the week that was assign to. Otherwise, you would have been able to catch up by now and don’t have to worry about trying to finish everything up before Final. On week four, I have learned how to create a spreadsheet in Google Documents to calculates my grade for this class. In this online class we have 80% in blackboard and Therefore, knowing how to calculate your grades allows you to know where you stand. When you know where you stand you can make decision. You have information which it’s important to know where you stand to know how to pass this class. Through discussion board week
Overall, I feel that both my quality of writing and writing process have improved over the course of the semester. This was important because in my first writing analysis statement at the beginning of the year, the two main things that I wanted to improve on were my quality and process. Throughout the semester, I learned to rely less on teacher comments and revisions and instead improve on my self-revision process, which was almost non-existent before I came to college.
For the progress monitoring assignment, I first reviewed the students’ assessments data provide for the assignment, and using the provided decision tree guide I determined the students’ levels based on the FSP (RC, Maze, and WA) scores. Once I had determined their level or “box results” I filled the decision tree form in by order of the box results column. I chose to order the results by that column to help make choosing student groups easier. Once all the students’ data was filled in the next step I took was to fill in the suggested curriculum and suggested strategies for each student based on their maze and word analysis assessment results. Once I had all that information entered I decided to create an extra column on the decision tree form
Alfie Kohn discussed many fabulous points in his article, “Degrading to De-Grading”. The author suggests more effective ways to assess students’ progress other than numerical or letter grades such as, portfolios or narratives. One assignment that I feel as though I put my all into would be the Definition essay, in my opinion is my best. I took my time and tried to focus on what the instructor was

What well in your classes? What did you need to do differently? What is your plan for success this semester? In this class, what will you need to do to be successful?
Progress monitoring student’s achievements and progress throughout the year is very important and these two tools are great to use for reading progress monitoring in the younger grades. This activity has taught me how to best use each assessment to better my teaching as a classroom
After the invention of the atomic bomb in WWII, nuclear power has since then been manipulated and harnessed for energy purposes, with the first nuclear power plants built in the 1950s. The first wave of support for nuclear energy as a viable and sustainable source that could lead to energy independence occurred around the early 1970s. After Three Mile Island and Chernobyl occurred in 1979 and 1986, respectively, public support for nuclear energy fell. Concerns of global climate change and pollution lifted the public opinion once again until the Fukushima incident (Moniz). In fairly recent years, the search for a cleaner, more sustainable source of energy has been on the agenda of global leaders as the demand for energy increases. The need for energy independence for many nations has also raised support for nuclear energy, combined with the finite supply of fossil fuels, much of which is not an abundant resource in certain areas of the world. Though having been in existence and in use since the 1950s, nuclear energy is still a highly debated form of energy today largely due to the dangers it may pose as demonstrated with the events of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima. As the global issues of climate change, pollution, and fossil fuel depletion arise, the need for a sustainable energy source is high on the agenda of many countries; nuclear energy is an option to consider. Though there are many other options of renewable and nonrenewable sources of energy, nuclear
