Evita Peron Born Maria Eva Duarte, Evita lived a life as an actress, a first lady to Argentina, and as an unofficial political leader (Minster). Her strong personality and her passion for advocating for the poor granted her the title of “Spiritual Leader of the Nation” (Minster). In a history that is centered on male figure heads, Eva Peron is one of the only women to leave a legacy that rivals any male leader in Latin America.
EVA'S EARLY YEARS Childhood. Eva came from a humble background. She was born on May 5, 1919 in Los Toldos, Argentina as the illegitimate daughter to Juan Duarte and his mistress Juana Ibarguren. Juan Duarte was a land owner who was known to have two families ("Evita Peron Biography - Historical Research Foundation"). Upon his death in 1925, Eva's family was left with nothing and moved to the town of Junin where mother ran a boarding house. In 1947, Evita traveled to Europe for the Rainbow Tour to promote Argentinian interests. She also met with the the presidents of France and Portugal as well as the prince of Monaco. She was given multiple awards including the Order of Isabel the Catholic which is an award for merit. Ruby Laffoon (January 15, 1869 – March 1, 1941) was a politician from the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. He was the Commonwealth's 43rd governor, serving from 1931 to 1935. At age 17, Laffoon moved to Washington, D.C. to live with his uncle, U.S. Representative Polk Laffoon. He developed an interest in politics and returned to Kentucky, where he compiled a mixed record of victories and defeats in elections at the county and state levels. In 1931, he was chosen as the Democratic gubernatorial nominee by a nominating convention, not a primary, making him the only Kentucky gubernatorial candidate to be chosen by a convention after 1903. Eva Lopez passed away on July 3, 2015 at her home in Santa Cruz Ca with her beloved husband and family by her side. Eva was born in Mission, Texas on June, 16 1929 to Alfredo and Jovita V. Rangel. Eva married the love of her life Bonifacio Lopez on September 10th 1955 in Mission Texas. They had 8 children together, 6 boys and 2 girls. The couple had moved to Santa Cruz Ca in 1958 to raise their family. She had a strong belief in faith. She would religiously read her bible morning, noon and night and prayed for those she loved. About 100 miles out of Albuquerque, the Navajo are lacking something that we take for granted everyday - easy access to water. Many Navajo families have no running water in their homes and they have to drive many miles to get water from a well. In addition, many of the wells that once had water that was safe to drink have been contaminated as a result of mining causing the Navajo to be further away from their source of water.
